Definitely wouldn’t recommend

Definitely wouldn’t recommend! Referred 2 friends as I had a promotion of £30 each referral plus a £150 bonus for 2 referrals. 2 friends signed up but one did not receive the card and didn’t notice straight away. It was therefore not activated by the deadline. We got in touch and I was ASSURED the bonus promotion was still active on my account and once the criteria had been met I would get it, even clarifying this was the case even though the deadline was missed. I thought as the card had not reached her they were still honouring it out of good will as she said I would get it. New card was sent out to friend and activated as soon as she got it. Waited the 70 days as per the terms and no bonus £150. Got in touch and told terms weren’t met and there had been a “miscommunication” in my previous conversation and they meant the £30 referral fee which I got. I specifically said bonus! Told me to clarify I needed to get both my friends to get in touch, one who got the card and activated in the time frame etc so no need to involve a busy mum who works full time and has enough on her plate as it is! I didn’t need clarification, I know what happened and explained it the first time I got in touch but was told I would still get it and now it comes to the date I should have been paid it I get fobbed off! All the while obviously they’ve been taking the monthly subscription from us all after lying regarding paying the bonus. I feel bad I’ve referred them and they’ve spent money on it for nothing but hassle having to mess about over it and wish I’d never bothered. The fees are ridiculous anyway for what it is and you can get debit cards for kids from free elsewhere so it was all just a giant waste of money in the end. Really not happy with being lied to and fobbed off!

With GoHenry, some of our users have bank details that can take up to 24 working hours to apply to the account, as a credit. As well as this, if a transfer exceeds our single transfer limit, we need to seek manual approval from our internal team, due to the fact that we are a pocket money service designed for children.
If you are looking to add funds to an account instantly, we do offer giftlinks, which are an instant way of adding funds into the GoHenry accounts, or the main parent account holder can complete a manual top-up via the app, which would also go through straight away! Regarding the card not being accepted in certain shops, because GoHenry is a youth card designed specifically for young people, it automatically blocks transactions at merchants that sell age-restricted items. You can always see the exact reason a payment didn’t go through by checking your child’s statement in the GoHenry app.
