I have always enjoyed playing The Health Lottery due to the fact that it helps lots of charities and it's only £1 per line. Recently I was helped by a member of The Health Lottery team who quickly responded via email to my query and sorted out my issue promptly.

Joke of a service and app, signed up weeks ago, they take my DD but never enter me into any of the draws.
Looks like a scam to me.
Will be requesting chargeback through the bank.

We have recently introduced additional direct debit collection days each month so that players signing up are entered into their chosen draws without delay. The helpdesk is absolutely brilliant
The helpdesk is absolutely brilliant. I am an OAP and sometimes experience difficulties with technology. I have emailed the helpdesk on several occasions and each time my query/problem has been resolved promptly and efficiently. Today, I experienced a problem acquiring a bonus so I emailed the helpdesk and it was all sorted within 10 minutes.

Law of averages
Law of averages, you should win at least once in 5-6 year's, when comparing wins to say the national/post code lottery's not a single win, I win a tenner every now and then with the other two (law of averages), although it is for good causes I'm not expecting vast sums of monies, but when searching for past jackpot winners with the health lottery just to see if anyone has actually won it and no information is forthcoming, it makes me think this is a total scam? That's why I cancelled my account last year and now give the money to a worthy charity, although I don't win I feel like I'm not being scammed. The health lottery needs to be more transparent and honest as it doesn't portray the organisation it is supposed to represent.

As with all society lotteries, The Health Lottery is heavily regulated by the Gambling Commission. Our lottery draw is a game of chance, requiring no skill and there is no way of affecting the outcome. As detailed on our home page, the odds of winning a prize (including a free ticket) is 1 in 6 and the odds of winning the jackpot is 1 in 2.1m. The latter is 21 times more likely than winning the jackpot with the National Lottery (currently 1 in 45m). There are more than 20,000 winners every week – 18 million since launch, winning in excess of £165m. We encourage every jackpot winner to share their story but most wish to remain anonymous. My issue is with their freebies (?)
My issue is with their freebies (?) - a new one this week, twas my birthday so received e-mail with the code BDAY2022, 'already added to your account, no need do anything' - they said! I played - added an extra line to my usual for this bonus, to the final ' confirm' page hit ' add bonus' - nothing there! Went backwards to the' play' page, tried adding BDAY2022 - ' invalid code'!! - So that's the ' one freebie', the others? - these PLAY10 etc, you add them, they're not valid for the day you add them, and they only remain valid for couple of days- they are enticement to play on more days than you usually do

I finally had a reply back from the Health Lottery. I really don’t understand what they are on about. I Won a free ticket! I played the Free Ticket but you took Money out of my Bank. I Still have the Free Ticket on my account. I need the Money Refunded and you can keep the Free Ticket. I want my account closed.

We are sorry you have been left frustrated by this issue. For your reference, free tickets that are won are held in a sperate area of your online wallet. When you wish to purchase a lottery entry, the by default the payment will be deducted from your deposited balance, unless you select the option to proceed using your free tickets (bonus credit). If this matter has still not been resolved, please contact our customer service again using the subject line 'Paul - Trustpilot' and they will respond to you as soon as possible. Increasing amounts out of direct-debits!
My wife noticed that the Health Lottery were taking more and more money out of our account; so I phoned the number shown on their site. All that I got, was that I had somehow approved more and more direct-debit amounts. It appears that it is a case of 'inertia-selling'; not opting-out of repeat debits. If you do not select 1 entry, it assumes that you are selecting 'continuous debits'! Be very very careful!

Sneaky, rubbish customer support and appalling website. What's to like?
Created account and the first thing they do is they try to force you to setup a regular direct debit. I just clicked off this, but some people might be fooled by it. Instead, I attempted to add my card details and add some funds. This was approved by my bank, but the website callback returned an error and then a blank screen. The funds were not taken from my bank.
I contacted their customer support to ask about the error who, in quite a patronising tone, told me that I needed to get approval from my bank for payments, despite me clearly explaining to them that my payment was approved and the issue was their janky payment process. I still have not received a satisfactory explanation.
This brings me to the other issue. As someone who has worked with software for decades, I have never seen such a poor quality website for a nationally recognised company. Considering they are taking money from customers, it does not instil confidence and clearly there are things broken with it.
I've taken the failure to accept my payment as a sign my money is better off staying in my bank account, but I'm surely not the first person to come to that conclusion and I hope the HL board recognise they've lost revenue because their website and payment process is so ugly, unreliable and unpleasant to use.

Terrible website
Terrible website. I registered to play the lottery, which they took out of my bank, all well and good, but I added £10 to my funds to play the lottery also the scratch cards. I click on the scratch card I want to play, but nothing happens, tried multiple scratch cards, none of them open up to play. I also tried to play the lottery with my online balance, but it takes it from my bank NOT my balance. I will just use up the money in my balance on the quick wins then unsubscribe. Never again.

Confusing. Avoid.
Confusing website. Bonuses that are hard to access. Default of direct debit payment which created a stream of money out of my bank account. Avoid.
The reply HL have given here is different from what I was told when I phoned to complain to Nikki, i.e. no refund available. Also HL sent me an email explaining how their system works, saying "We are sorry if you feel out that this was not transparent enough." It seemed sarcastic in tone.
I am apparently not the only person caught by HL Direct Debits. I've played other lotteries without any problems. I won't be dealing with the Health Lottery again

First time Iv tried the health lottery…
First time Iv tried the health lottery NEVER AGAIN I added £10 into my account and for some reason it took £20 !!! Then I noticed that you can't find anyway to withdraw funds so I played with the £20 and then checking my emails I saw that somehow I had set up a monthly direct debit of £42 to £48 which I definitely never wanted Iv emailed them but no reply as yet but will contact my bank and cancel the direct debit I DON'T NEED THE HASSLE it's a terrible misleading confusing web site and should be closed down

Very Efficient
I made a mistake in filling out the entry form and failed to get the expected Bonus to my account. I Emailed The Health Lottery and they sent me a code to enter into my account and the Bonus was restored.

Direct debit charged without my persmisson.
I have opened a account and played a few times with no luck. Just noticed that my account had been charged £24 direct debit which I never set up. Basically they charged without my permission. No one replies to email. Will take it further if no answer.
Avoid!!! Otherwise your bank will be charged.

One of the worst websites I have ever used. You feel conned immediately which is not great. It doesn't tell you that when you add funds, it is actually some kind of standing order that is continual. The introductory THANKS offer doesn't work either. Please do not bother with this lottery.
