The curtains made by Hillarys are NOT blackout as the light is entertaining where they meet and at the hem of the lining which is too short- There are also pin head holes at the top of the curtains allowing light in ,from the sewing machine which made the curtains.
Hillarys said they would remake the curtains and fix the pin holes but could not fix the lining as this was a Manufacturing issue.
There was little point in them resolving the Pin Head Issue without addressing the main issue of the lining. I sought compensation and they gave me €100 which will go nowhere near me paying to have the curtains remade.
The whole experience was a Disaster and I would have saved myself a lot of money if I just got existing curtains lined with blackout fabric.

Great service
Great service. Brian came for the consultation and had great advice on type of blinds that would suit our home. He worked around times that suited us to install the blinds and spent a lot of time working on one blind where the window was particularly crooked and it looks great. All in all delighted with the service and with our lovely new blinds

I ordered two pairs of curtains in the…
I ordered two pairs of curtains in the first week of November 2025 and after incorrectly measuring borh pairs, eventually after much angst 8 months later I have my curtains.
The curtains should have been installed prior to Christmas 2025.
At this time the pleasure of purchasing was totally gone.
It was an incredibly long difficult slog with bad communication at every level, unkept appointments with agents, fitters and also technical advisors over whatsapp.
Eventually, after 8 months both pairs of curtains have eventually been fitted and the matter resolved to my satisfaction.
This would not be the case except for the intervention of Karen(Hillary's advisor in the Irish office) and her acceptance from Day 1 that the service received was both shoddy and totally unsatisfacto, below any reasonable acceptable level.
When Karen said she would ring - hallelujah - she rang.
When she said she would intervene with Management ....she did and was successful in getting some decent recompense for me.
And finally when all was agreed and the cutains were once again to be fitted, adjusted etc etc I had 2 further "no shows for appointments and no telephone calls to advise of those no shows" - thereby leading to more unnecessary waiting at home, time off from my work costing me further money and missing a funeral I really should have attended. The fitters method of communication through text messaging is wholly unsuccessful, the fitter has the client' s contact phone number, it would be much simpler to just dial the number and confirm ETA or cancellation of appointment verbally thereby allowing the client to carry on with their day.
At this time Karen further intervened and had additional discounts applied to my final balance.
Thankfully I can now put this dreadful experience behind me and close the curtains and leave Hillarys in.my rear view window.
No thanks due to Hillarys Blinds but a very very big THANK YOU to KAREN.
I have over the last 7 or 8 years dealt with Hillarys, purchasing blinds for various rooms with good seevice and jobs well done BUT after this last purchase I really could not and will not be recommending Hillarys to anyone under any circumstance.
