The worst experience of my life. Huddle Utilities. Huddle Utilities contacted me out of the blue to say that a bill for £92.88 was due. As the property was rented out at this time I informed them that I was not liable for the bill. Checking through records the electricity was actually with another supplier for the dates the Huddle were trying to claim for. I explain this to them but what happened next shocked me . The demand letters started. Some how they managed to get my phone number and stated to hassle me, letters and phone calls for a bill that is not even mind. They have become even more aggressive by sending a solicitors letter to me. They have become time and costs to them must exceed the £93.88. And if they just checked the energy supplied to the property they would see that it was with another supply. The communication level is one of the worst that I have ever experienced. Rude, aggressive and disrespectful to the core. I would never ever use this supply ever they are the most incompetent company to deal with avoid at all cost. As it will cost you.
Really helpful and easily sorted out my request. Judah was polite and very helpful

Huddle energy is the worst company I have ever come into contact with in my entire life. We moved into our flat in July 2025 and decided that we wanted to set up our gas and electricity through Octopus Energy (accordingly we set up an account with Octopus Energy). A few months into our tenancy we receive a letter from Huddle asking for a payment for our gas. We assumed this must have been a mistake since we had set up our gas with Octopus Energy. Soon after this Huddle started sending us aggressive letters claiming we not only owed them money for gas but also a late payment fee. We were relatively young and inexperienced with utility companies as this point, so, out of fear we caved and paid. This is how Huddle energy initially coerced us into being their customers. Fast forward to July 2026 (when my housemate who had set up our Octopus Energy account, and after being harassed set up an account with Huddle energy moved out). She closed both accounts, and terminated both contracts. Due to our previous bad experience with Huddle energy, I called them up to confirm for certain that the account had been closed, and that we were free to buy our gas from whomever we should choose. I spoke to someone on the phone (who was perfectly nice) who told me that yes our contract with huddle energy had been terminated. I set up a new account with Octopus Energy for both gas and electric. I have paid two months worth of gas and electric payments to Octopus Energy now. Yet still every week we receive letters and emails from Huddle energy asking us to pay them for gas. Today I received a notification that they have added a late payment fee to our account. We will not be paying it this time. They cannot coerce us into another year with them. The only real question is; is this company so incompetent that they genuinely believe that they are supplying us with gas, or are they genuinely fraudulent, instigating coordinated scare tactics to coerce people into becoming their customers?
huddle how can you charge me for gaS when on prepayment bunch of idiots giving me 80 pouynd court order what charged me last month by way no get penny off me u trying too rob me charging me over top for elec diffent each month am burning same elec stuff no ripping me off see u in court taken u too court
Judah was a great help, straight to the point and sorted out my requests quickly and efficiently!

Terrible experience with Huddle. My monthly utility payment was increased from £218 to £296.39 with no proper breakdown or clear explanation of how the new amount was calculated.
I repeatedly asked them to explain how much related to electricity, gas and water, what meter readings they used, and what assumptions were behind the increase. Instead of answering the actual question, I kept receiving generic responses about estimated meter readings.
I provided an actual electricity reading as well as a documented opening reading from when I moved into the property, yet they still failed to give a straightforward calculation for the £296.39.
Phone support has also been extremely poor — long waits, no answer, and even a day when the line was closed for staff training while I was actively trying to resolve a billing dispute.
I eventually cancelled my Direct Debit because I was not comfortable allowing nearly £300 to be taken without a proper explanation. Rather than resolving the issue first, I then received an automated warning that the account would be sent to credit control.
Customer service has been frustrating, slow and completely lacking in transparency. A utility company should be able to explain exactly how a customer’s bill is calculated. Huddle has so far failed to do that.
I would not recommend them.
My experience with Huddle has been absolutely appalling, and I genuinely cannot understand how a company can make something so simple, so unnecessarily stressful.
During my first year with Huddle, everything worked mostly fine. I had a Direct Debit set up and my payments were being taken as expected, so when I renewed for my second year, I had no reason to think there would be an issue. In fact, I specifically double-checked that the Direct Debit was set up and would continue working for the second year. Despite this, Huddle somehow failed to properly set it up anyway, resulting in six months of payments being missed without me knowing. I assumed the payments were coming out because I had already checked that everything was supposedly in place. I only found out later that the payments hadn't been taken and that I was now responsible for repaying the amount with no accountability taken on Huddles behalf.
This is particularly frustrating because I had done exactly what I was supposed to do and had even gone out of my way to check that it was set up correctly. Yet I was still left dealing with the consequences of their mistake.
Even after agreeing to a repayment plan, I was subsequently charged for additional things that I had not been made aware I needed to pay. It felt like every time one problem was supposedly resolved, another one appeared.
Their customer service has been dreadful. Responses are painfully slow, hold times are ridiculously long, and issues repeatedly go unresolved. You can spend hours trying to get help and still end up exactly where you started.
The internet service has also been a complete mess. We experienced problems repeatedly, and despite eventually having someone sent out to look at it, this took around a month, and the underlying problems still weren't properly fixed.
The referral codes and bonuses they advertise are another joke. There are offers for referring people and incentives for staying with them for another year, but in my experience the promised bonuses simply do not get applied. We specifically contacted them about these offers and asked for the bonuses to be added, only for them to remain unapplied. What's the point of advertising incentives if customers have to repeatedly chase you for them and still don't receive what was promised?
Then there was the most concerning issue of all: a serious privacy issue involving other customers' documents. Documents belonging to me were apparently sent to my flatmates. When this was brought to Huddle's attention, they told us that it hadn't happened, despite my flatmates having the documents and evidence to show otherwise. The fact that the response was to deny it rather than properly investigate the situation is extremely concerning.
And just when I thought I was finally out of it, there's another issue today. I was expecting a £200 refund, which I was told had been processed and was due to be paid. After waiting the stated 14 working days, I called to check on the progress, only to be told that they were actually reviewing my final statement. I was told this could be completed today and that it will be dealt with, but at the time of writing I am still waiting, so I can't yet say whether they will actually follow through. What is incredibly frustrating is that nobody contacted me to explain that this review was taking place or that it could delay my refund. I urgently need this money, and I have once again had to chase Huddle myself just to find out what is happening. The fact that I only found out about the delay because I called them makes it feel like these issues are simply left until the customer contacts them, rather than Huddle proactively communicating with the customer. After everything else, this is an incredibly frustrating way to end my time with them
At this point, I have absolutely no confidence in Huddle Utilities.
Do yourself a favour and choose another provider. Huddle Utilities has caused nothing but stress and frustration, and based on my experience, it is absolutely not worth it.
Thank you huddle. The team were always very friendly and helpful when working with them.

Here is a clear, factual, and direct draft formatted specifically for Trustpilot. It highlights every point you raised—the forced sign-up, hidden billing, illegal CCJ, forced prepayment, double billing, and total lack of customer support—without using profanity (so Trustpilot won't take it down).
Review Draft for Trustpilot
Title: Unfair billing, forced prepayment charges, and appalling customer support
Review:
I am writing this review after reaching absolute breaking point with Huddle Utilities.
To start with, we never explicitly signed up for Huddle. When we moved into our property, they effectively forced themselves on us. We never received a confirmation email agreeing to their service.
From the beginning, our bills were extremely high, but rather than providing clear, transparent usage bills so we could manage our consumption, they kept us in the dark. Because of this lack of visibility, we ended up in debt. Instead of helping us resolve it, Huddle issued a County Court Judgment (CCJ) against us. This CCJ has cost us massively, and they refused to let us switch providers until the debt was cleared—effectively holding us hostage.
When we struggled through and paid off the debt, things only got worse:
* Forced Prepayment & Double Billing: They forcefully moved us onto a prepayment meter while we were already actively paying off our balance. Even after clearing our debt and being on prepayment, they continued to bill us for standard monthly charges in May.
* Hidden Account Changes: Without sending any email, notification, or confirmation, they switched us back to normal monthly billing in the background while still taking prepayment money for our supply.
* Overcharging Upon Switching: Now that we have finally managed to pay them off and switch to a new provider (where everything has been completely peaceful), Huddle has sent us a final bill for over £120. In reality, our actual remaining balance for gas was only around £29, completely ignoring the advance payments we had already made.
When you call their customer service, you get zero empathy and never an apology. Every agent simply reads off the exact screen/bill without providing any real explanation. When I explicitly asked the customer service agent today to explain the breakdown of these inflated charges in an email, he flatly refused and said all he could send was a "summary of the call."
Huddle’s billing practices are completely untransparent, their account management is a nightmare, and their customer service offers zero help or accountability. Avoid them at all costs.

Terrible, they are scammers/horrendously bad at communicating . We was under housr and they tried the same. We then managed to freeze our bills with them and they put us onto huddle without saying. We then paid huddle and they added lots of extra charges. This has been happening since august last year!! all this and now huddle is still sending me charges after we have paid all the bills and communicated many times we don’t want them supplying and we are under no contract with them and dont even live at the property anymore
Very disappointed with Huddle\. The customer service has been extremely frustrating, and resolving a simple issue has taken far too much time\. Despite explaining my situation, I have not received the level of support I expected\. Overall, a very poor experience with Huddle and I would not recommend them based on my experience\.
The team has been incredibly helpful and very quick to respond to my emails. I was in contact with Nelson and Anna, and both were extremely supportive and helpful. They addressed my concerns promptly and successfully resolved the issue I had. I really appreciate their excellent support.

This is the most infuriating and fraudulent company. They provided me with energy and gas as I moved into a new house. Upon switching to Octopus, they continued to bill me. I cancelled my direct debit but they still attempted to take money. I phoned the call lines every few days for months. They were unable to stop the payments. In addition I overpaid one bill by 300 pounds and it took them three weeks to help me. I am still waiting. There communication is so bad. There are so inefficient. It has almost driven me mad. I feel it is my obligation to share that I really would not recommend them. I am very competent, and they have been absolutely awful - by their own admission. I cannot recommend you go with Octopus or an alternative company enough.

STUDENTS DO NOT USE
We were recommended to use huddle by our letting agents - they described it as an easy way to split the bills with my housemates. This couldn’t have been further removed from our experience with huddle.
Huddles pricing upon signup was unclear and misleading. Their welcome email stated that the number of tenants was 3, and that the monthly service amount was £143.20. However, I later found out this was the amount my housemates and I were paying EACH. This was only clarified because I had to call up the company myself to understand their pricing. Alongside this, their welcome email had a picture of their trust pilot rating as 4.5 stars when it is actually 3.7.
For a three bedroom house, Huddle was charging over £400 a month for water, electricity, gas and broadband. This is entirely unaffordable for students. We cancelled the contract the day after it began and Huddle attempted to charge us £300 for services they hadn’t taken over. Upon looking at their terms and conditions (13.7), I noticed that their cancellations fees are £30 per service per tenant - I was appalled to realise they are unable to even adhere to their own terms and conditions in an attempt to further exploit their customers. Furthermore, Huddle has not refunded the £143.20 I am owed for services they never provided.
A week after we formally cancelled our contract, Huddle made an erroneous transfer of our gas supply, it has now been over three weeks of us trying to get it back from their partner company “tru energy”. Huddle claims to work under Ofgem regulations but they have delayed and stalled fixing this transfer which they admitted fault to; a transfer which should have been resolved within 21 days under Ofgem regulations. I am also owed £40 compensation for the erroneous transfer under these same regulations. When we contacted our previous supplier to chase up this erroneous transfer, they informed me that Huddle was withholding the gas supply because of a “valid contract” despite the fact that we formally cancelled this contract over a month ago in writing.
Furthermore, we received our broadband the same day we cancelled our contract. Huddle refused to let us return the unused, unopened router without paying for the entire year’s cost up front (a steep and expensive price at £60 a month). I called up Virgin media to clarify these costs and whether I was able to return the router directly to them. They said this was possible to return without charge as it was unused. However, in order to be able to do this I would need a copy of my contract. I requested this from Huddle, who withheld this contract from me claiming it was “confidential” which raises serious concerns about this company’s transparency about pricing.
The way Huddle have set up their company and partner company tru energy is disorientating and troubling. The same condescending and patronising workers who answer the phone at the Huddle call centre also answer the phone lines at Tru Energy. When I have tried to call them to sort the gas transfer directly, these same colleagues try to divert me back to Huddle, saying it’s “nothing to do with them” - despite the fact I had spoken to the same colleague on the phone at huddle several hours before.
Furthermore, their phone lines are always busy and are open between 10-4 which makes them wholly unreachable for anyone working a normal 9-5 job. Their email and resolution of formal complaints is appalling, their responses can take weeks at a time and they are often unhelpful and ignorant of the issues we have repeatedly raised.
As a student dealing with bills for the first time, this has been a deeply distressing experience where I feel wholly taken advantage of. I have had to repeatedly call citizens advice to support me with all the issues we have faced using this company.
To anyone else in this situation with this company, know that you are not alone, a brief read of these reviews alone shows how this company continues to exploit people and evade accountability. Stand up for yourself and do not let this company intimidate you with empty threats when they cannot even adhere to their own terms and conditions, or admit fault under Ofgem regulations.

Extremely disappointing experience with Huddle Utilities. They are supposed to be a utility bill management company, yet managing the utilities seems to be the very thing they have struggled to do.
For approximately 7 months in a three-bedroom apartment, we have already paid around £2,100 towards utilities. Despite this, we are now being presented with another alleged outstanding balance of £2,143, meaning the overall amount would exceed £4,200 for roughly seven months. Their own balance letter confirms the £2,143 being demanded.
There were only three of us living in the property, and all three worked around 4–5 days per week, so the apartment was regularly unoccupied for substantial periods. Yet the account has shown supposed “overusage” and enormous unexplained spikes that simply do not correspond with anything we can identify as operating in the apartment at those times.
Even more concerning is that the justification appears to involve estimated rather than verified actual usage. Estimated figures are not evidence that this amount of electricity was actually consumed. You cannot generate extraordinary estimated usage, label the difference “overusage”, and then expect customers to accept a bill for thousands of pounds without properly substantiating it.
The problems are not limited to electricity. During our stay, our water bills apparently went unpaid for around five months, and we received missed-payment correspondence from Severn Trent despite our understanding that Huddle was managing these utility payments. Payments relating to two bills have also not been properly combined/reconciled.
Communication has been equally unacceptable. We have received different emails giving different information and conflicting explanations, with no clear, consistent account of what has actually happened.
I have lived in three different properties in the UK and have never experienced utility billing or account management problems on this scale.
We have now formally demanded a full audit of the entire account, including every actual and estimated reading, every charge, payment, credit and adjustment, the old-to-smart-meter exchange, the handling of water payments, and documentary evidence showing exactly how this £2,143 balance was calculated.
Despite all these unresolved discrepancies, the pressure and repeated demands for payment continue. At this stage, it increasingly feels like harassment rather than an attempt to investigate a legitimately disputed account.
For a company whose business is literally managing utility bills, leaving customers to investigate missing payments, reconcile contradictory emails, challenge unsupported estimates and work out where thousands of pounds have supposedly gone is an astonishingly disappointing standard of service.
We are not refusing to pay legitimate usage. We are asking Huddle to prove that the amount they are demanding is legitimate, reading others reviews it feels like I'm not the only one facing this issue.

Daniel was an absolute gem
Huddle had caused a billing issue and had left me out of £240 but one phone call later and Daniel sorted that right out
*SCAM ARTISTS! AVOID AT ALL COST!
Not only do they break GDPR they also enjoy dabbling in financial fraud! They dont listen to you, they make stuff up as they go along. The staff are immature and poorly trained, if training is what you can call it! After effecting my existing mental health issues and stress levels, I requested they remove all my details from their system as I was no longer going to deal with them, my partner would, they bombarded me with 10 emails all with conflicting information and also didn't remove my details as most recently they attempted to take a random amount from my bank card! Thankfully said card is no longer in service, so their attempt was unsuccessful. The national fraud team will be made aware of this company, though im assuming, they probably are already aware.
They are bullies, liars and about as useful as a chocolate teapot! PLEASE for your own health and well being, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I have moved and are with a new provider and I paying NO WHERE near what this useless company are demanding!
Huddle, do not comment back! I dont want here your BS!!
