So disappointed at this insurance…
So disappointed at this insurance company. Received an email today to inform me that my insurance had been cancelled I tried to find a contact number however there was none to be found. I was allocated onto a live chat where I was informed my insurance was cancelled due to exceeding my mileage allowance which I was unaware of. The company insisted I was sent two warning emails however I never received these otherwise I would have acted on the problem and solved it. They did not try to call me to ensure I received the emails or to check I wasn’t prepared to sort the problem, they just cancelled my insurance, leaving me stuck and now being quoted over £5000 for new insurance due to having a cancellation that wasn’t my fault!!!!! I am also in my last paying month before a renewal and have paid the company for my whole policy and now they have decided to cancel just before the last payment !!!! Definitely do not recommend this company at all after how this has been dealt with and I can’t even find I phone number to speak to someone, disgraceful.

If I could vote for 0 stars I would. I have been with Ingenie for a few months and recently just had my insurance cancelled due to an error that was no fault of mine. The company explained to me over an online chat (as with this company you cannot contact at all for a phone call!) that my black box wasn’t picking up a signal and was therefore getting cancelled. Despite my best efforts to explain I’ve never removed the box and that it was strange as I’d just received driving feed back. I was told they picked up a signal only here and there and that’s why I got feed back. If there was a telematics issue I should have been informed and a new box should have been sent out. I’m now faced with new insurance quotes of as little as £5000 something which has left me unable to drive for foreseeable. I am so hurt and disappointed that I gave my information and trusted this company to provide me with this sort of service I've paid a lot of money for.

I have been with ingenie for around 6 months. I have had nothing but issues with them, they are impossible to get in touch with. The only way to speak to someone for advice is to use online chat which does not save the messages. They wrote the wrong dates and made several errors on my insurance documents. I have tried to put a complaint in about my issues several times but the online chat just gets ended. I also sent 6 emails within a week and didn't get a single reply.

Rip off admin fees
Would have left zero stars if I could. Sorted car insurance with them for my new driver son. Car was returned to the garage to be replaced with another car before the policy started but weren’t open over New Year to notify them. Was told best to freeze policy rather than cancel the policy to avoid fees. Advised them of new like for like car to now insure. Charge £30 admin fee which we were not advised of. Then next week charging £30 admin fee to change the number plate to a private plate. Considering this company are dealing with young people they are ripping off youngsters with their admin fees. Will certainly not use them again or recommend them to anyone. AVOID!

Absolutely shocking company
Absolutely shocking company - the only benefit is the price, and I should have realised you only get what you pay for! On cancellation of the policy I was told we owed about a payment equal to six months of the policy payments. When I questioned this, the customer service rep said he only knew how £80 of the fee was made up - I said I would pay provided he could send me details of how the fee was made up. I received an email saying the breakdown was attached - but there was no attachment/ I sent a couple of emails asking for the attachment but have never had a reply. However I have received two texts today from a debt collection agency (harassment?) asking for the debt to be settled, with an extra £20 added. I find it strange that a debt in dispute can be passed direct to a debt collection service, but believe this is typical of the bully boy tactics used by Ingenie.
I will never have anything to do with this company again - they are difficult to contact, offer poor customer service and are only out to make a quick profit, be warned!

Avoid!
When looking for a new insurance company they seemed like the most affordable and had good reviews. However after paying an upfront fee of £170, they cancelled my policy without giving any warning or reason after 4 weeks. They refused to give my money back and charged another £80 ‘service fee’.
When I complained and explained I was a Carer and on a very low income they immediately sent it to debt collection . So for a total of 4 weeks insurance I have paid over £300 and now have ruined 😡 my credit.
Avoid them, they have no phone line so you cannot even speak to a human being to resolve issues !

Choosing this company and reasonable pricing was all very easy from start to finish!!!
Unfortunately that’s where the helpfulness stops
Be very careful in choosing ingenie as the underwriters are Markerstudy , and you just need to read the reviews on them to know!!!
In the event of an accident they were very quick to contact us as signal had gone of on the black box, they quickly arranged the recovery and sent to the repair centre
Then the car was declared a write off, and ingenie of course were unable to keep you updated or give any information
Obviously wasn’t made very easy by Markerstudy who don’t feel the need to contact you as the claimant or the insurance company
Markerstudy refused to pay out the claim, and ingenie want you to continue paying them monthly or your in breach of contract!!!
Il be paying nobody, and any prospective customers do your home work first to see who the underwriters are

Do not recommend
I’m not one to leave reviews but I just have to with this one.
Do not recommend this insurance provider. Two people in my house have had their insurance cancelled and informed through email, resulting in one person losing their license due to driving without insurance unknowingly and driving uninsured.
Insurance is up now in next couple of days, tried to cancel to get away but there’s an £80 fee even though I have no miles left on my policy, so I will wait it out and then move to a much better Ireland based company, with a good reputation. Will never use this provider again.

Don’t be fooled by the 5 star reviews
Don’t be fooled by the 5 star reviews. Many of these appear to be written at the start of the policy, which I myself would also agree it was a good experience.
However, ultimately, the experience is a 1 star once you make a claim. My car was involved in an accident which wasn’t my fault (I wasn’t even in my car). I rang up, which redirects you to a 3rd party who deal with the claim. While this company are the ones who are trying to retrieve the money, ingenie are who I pay my money to. This is why the review is being written here.
I haven’t once had a call to check I’m okay and if they can help in anyway. Any chasing up is done by myself. I’m still paying for my insurance on a car which was written off. I received one email with a pdf from ingenie to remind me not to cancel my direct debit else a debit collection agency will be sent to retrieve the funds. Beyond this nothing has been sent to reassure me. We are now approaching 5 weeks without payout. I feel very much a villain in something I couldn’t physical avoid.
I highly recommend any new and young drivers to carefully consider their choice. Yes the price is good, however unfortunately the service falls short once you need them for the reason you pay them every month / year
UPDATE. 7 weeks. Nothing.

TOTAL DISGRACE, DON'T CO-OPERATE AND THEY DON'T CARE
I have been with this company for three months and I installed my own OBD port self-fitting black box which is easily fitted near my steering wheel in my car. I have had numerous calls from Ingenie asking me if I have been in a collision which I wasn't and then they blamed the box by saying it detects the smallest of bumps and that's why it triggered up on their system. On Dec 23rd I had to visit my sister in Blackburn, as she accomodated there for a short-period as everybody in my house tested positive for Covid and I am the only one able to drive as I was feeling fine and I needed to go to Blackburn to pick up my sister who was staying at my elder sisters house for a short-period as my sister who has previous medical conditions/history can be more sick and it could end up being fatal for her if she isn't seen to in time. They claimed I went over the speed limit and I ended up being near a Lidl and said there isn't a hospital there but by looking at the maps of the area, there is Blackburn hospital right there and they are now cancelling my policy on these grounds. They didn't even co-operate with me on any ground and wanted to just cancel the policy. If I could give zero stars, I would. I recommend to NEVER use a company like this, to save your precious time and it's better to be insured by another company because I will no longer be using Ingenie insurance ever again.
