Worst experience delivering to Ireland - Resolved

Update:
- Jameco team investigated the issue and they refunded me for the excessive custom taxes. at the end, I only paid the original estimated taxes + UPS fees.
Changing review from 1 star to 3 stars.

Don't buy anything from them if you live in Ireland.
The first order I made took like 3 weeks and didn't arrive. when I spoke with them they said it was lost and we will refund you.
I made the same order again and chose UPS to deliver. Jameco caused an error at the import because they sent a commercial invoice that didn't state the shipping cost. This made customs estimate delivery for $185 while the original shipping was $30. because of that import taxes due for an €87 order became €69.

Their customer support has no idea about anything. They'll reply with the most unrelated answers to your questions.

Avoid this company by any means

Terrible Company

Ordered ICs from them for a project. Received faulty or fake components both times. DO NOT waste your money with them.

Our records show that our customer requested a particular manufacturer; however, we provided a different brand. We regret the inconvenience this has caused and have made every effort to rectify the situation; however, we were unable to fulfill the specific banded product. Our Major Branded products are sourced from one of several larger manufacturers. The components that were sent were genuine Motorola parts with a one-year warranty, not counterfeit components.

Ordered a power supply

Ordered a power supply. It failed in a couple of weeks. Had to order a second and wanted a refund on first. This was reply. NO REFUND ON FAILED PARTS. THEY JUST SEND ME A REFURBISHED ONE AFTER IT IS REPAIRED.

Wanted me to pay twice

Placed my first order with jameco and not long after I got an email from them that they wanted me to pay again with PayPal, despite the fact that my card had already been successfully charged.

I told them I'd already paid. They said they would cancel the order and then I could pay again with PayPal due to security concerns since I was a new customer.

When they emailed back to say the order was canceled and I could order again with PayPal, my card didn't reflect any refund, yet they still expected me to pay again for my order.

Totally unacceptable experience.

10% off first order scam offer

I opened a new account (never had an account with them previously) with Jameco Electronics because they were the sole source for something I needed. When I opened the account, there was an offer to receive 10% off on my first order. Great!
Except that even after clicking through the "enter your email here and submit to receive 10% off code via email" AND setting up an order nothing came through in email except a "Welcome to Jameco" email with no code and no mention of the 10% off deal.
So I cancelled my order and will never do business with them in the future.

Disappointing Customer Experience for First-Time Buyer

I recently placed my first order with Jameco, choosing to support a smaller business instead of larger platforms like Amazon or Alibaba. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet my expectations.

Since I checked out as a guest, Jameco flagged my order, stating that the shipping address "had never been used with this account." Naturally, that’s to be expected when checking out as a guest! I was then asked to pay via PayPal, a platform I prefer not to use. When I asked about alternatives, I was told to manually reorder all 21 items through PayPal’s "Pay without signing up" option, which felt unnecessarily complicated.

After expressing my concerns, the only solution offered was to cancel the order, which I agreed to. The funds are still on hold, but I don’t anticipate any issues with that.

As a smaller business, I expected a more customer-focused approach. For Jameco to compete with larger retailers, they’ll need to rethink how they handle situations like this. Unfortunately, my first experience was disappointing, and I’m unlikely to recommend them.
