I worked for TutorABC as an online teacher, and I think future applicants and current teachers deserve to know what the support experience can be like behind the curtain.
My biggest issue was not even the penalties themselves, but the complete lack of human support. Whenever I contacted them by email or opened tickets, I repeatedly received automated responses directing me back to the Help Center. I submitted multiple tickets and never felt that my case was genuinely reviewed by a real person. It felt like arguing with a vending machine.
Last month, severe rainstorms in my country caused serious disruptions. I provided screenshots and relevant news articles as evidence, explaining that the absence was caused by an emergency situation outside my control. My appeal was still rejected, and I was charged $27 USD.
I accepted that and continued working professionally. Then similar issues happened again two more times. In one case, I had entered the classroom five minutes early, ready to teach, but I was still removed from the classroom and the lesson was reassigned. Despite being present and prepared, I was the one penalized.
This raises important questions for anyone considering working here:
Is there real teacher support when problems happen?
Are appeals actually reviewed by humans?
Are teachers expected to absorb losses caused by emergencies or platform issues?
How often are technical errors blamed on teachers?
Teaching online already requires patience, professionalism, and flexibility. The least a company can provide is fair communication and real support when problems arise.
I’m sharing this so other teachers can make informed decisions, and so current teachers can speak up if they’ve experienced something similar. If this resonates with you, share your experience too. Sometimes the only way to be heard is when many voices speak at once.

Özel dersler aldım, tüm hocalardan inanılmaz memnun kaldım. Tek bir hoca ile şu anda devam ediyorum, ancak kimden ders aldıysam son derece memnun kaldım.
Öğretmen kadrosu ve kalitesi, profesyonellikleri diğerleriyle karşılaştırılamayacak kalitede.
Üstelik fiyatları da oldukça uygun.
Son derece memnunum ve hala ders almaya devam ediyorum. Eğer İngilizce öğrenmek istiyorum diye düşünüyorsanız mutlaka TutorABC yi öneririm.

I am really responsible and professional at work, but reactions and "punishments" like this leave me disappointed.

I applied to be a tutor on this platform and it is one of the worst I have come across. The onboarding process is like pulling teeth out, 2 different intro videos, 2 different profile photos ( all of which will be rejected and you need to spend even more UNPAID time fixing). Added to this the whole company is a shitshow communication wise. Without even uploading my profile students have been booking classes and the platform has not alerted me to these classes. I have been sent 2 emails already saying I 'no-showed' classes. How can students book you when you dont have a profile and why doesnt the platform let the tutor know? It is just the basics!! Massive red flags, at best it is just a shitshow, at worst it could be a scam. AVOID
After leaving my first review, TutorABC contacted me again, but instead of addressing my concerns, their email misrepresented my situation and tried to shift all the blame onto me. They accused me of ending classes early and refusing to continue when students asked, yet this is not a true reflection of what happened. The reality is that I faced challenges such as insufficient materials and technical issues, and instead of receiving support as a new tutor, I was punished with permanent deactivation.
What was most concerning is that their response focused on defending themselves and indirectly threatening to reply publicly if I did not amend or remove my review. They continued to accuse me without providing any evidence, ignoring the fact that I had improved by adding my own material to keep lessons engaging. If they had looked at my most recent sessions, they would have seen that effort.
This experience has left me feeling silenced, intimidated and unfairly punished. I cannot recommend TutorABC to anyone seeking fairness, inclusivity or genuine support

This is an awesome company to work for. It is one of the best I have worked with over the years as an online teacher. I love their platform it has great student/teacher friendly features and the students are lovely. I am grateful for the opportunity to teach here.
I was so nervous about working for an online teaching company. I had heard stories from other teachers complaining about their companies - not getting paid on time, classes being cancelled at the last minute, no support etc. I'm happy to say that I have experienced none of that at TutorABC. The whole application and hiring process is very well communicated and went smoothly. The onboarding taught me how to use the platform as well as how to run a class, and within a day of teaching, I already had the hang of it. There is so much flexibility with the schedule, so I can still be a full-time mum to my kids when they get home from school. The resources are provided for the lessons, so it only takes a bit of prep before class to get ready. All in all, I am LOVING my job! Highly recommend applying!
I have worked for TutorABC for a few years now and I've had a pleasant experience. It offers a flexible work schedule and a lot of different trainings to sharpen our skills. The availability of scheduled lessons however has decreased, but all in all...a great platform and company.

Like every company, it has platform and communication issues sometimes, but these are dealt with. There is a wonderful team of Teachers reps, who answer questions quickly on the Forum, giving instant advice.
I have been with TutorABC for eight years now, and I have been loving it, especially since they separated from iTutorGroup. Teachers receive training and guidance from mentors and live training sessions and you can feel teachers are truely valued. Besides that the job is extremely flexible, you can work whenever you want (as long as there are students available of course) and there is no problem when you have to ask for time off. Classes are well balanced between adults and juniors and are sincerely dedicated in learning English. Pay is OK.
I have worked here for few months now and it’s been one of the best online reaching platform I have worked. I love the teacher community where I could ask for advise and answers and when even I have an issues the comms team always come to my rescue.

I've been with TutorABC for many years now and it has been a good experience for me. I've relocated countries a few times over the past few years and having the flexibility to work and travel has been incredibly helpful. It even allowed me to apply for a digital nomad visa in a few places! The Teacher Representatives are very helpful and the community is kind and supportive. It takes some time to build up regular students but if you put in the effort, love teaching, and enjoy having a flexible schedule, then this job will suit you well.

I've been teaching with TutorABC since 2016, and overall, it's been a rewarding experience. The students, both adults and children, are generally a joy to teach – they're often engaged and eager to learn. One of the best things is the flexibility; you really are your own boss and can set your schedule to fit your life.
The cancellation policies are definitely fairer than what I've seen at other online teaching companies, which is a big plus. While the pay could always be higher, it's reasonable. And the teacher community is fantastic – there's a huge network of colleagues always willing to offer support and advice.
TutorABC also provides opportunities for professional development through various training assignments, which is great for continuous learning. The only real downside is the lack of dedicated tech support. You're pretty much on your own if you or a student has technical issues. But if you're good at multitasking, the teacher community can often help you troubleshoot.
