Not be buying this again, totally ruined this coffee blend

I have drunk kenco millicano since its introduction however the recent change from granules to a powder and smaller tin is awful. Its tastes like a cheap value supermarket brand but at a premium price. Won't be purchasing ever again. They don't value their customers to make such a drastic change for purely profit.

Over the last few weeks I thought my taste buds had changed but I was also being left with a furry mouth. I have now realised that the Kenco Rich and Kenco Smooth have been changed and unfortunately not for the better. I have actually binned what is left and certainly won't be purchasing any of their products again. There is absolutely nothing smooth or rich about either of them now.

If it's not broken, why try and fix it

The “ new improved recipe “ is dreadful. The taste is bitter and a powdery sediment remains at the bottom of the cup. We are long term Kenco loyals but have now switched as the new blend is unpleasant. To add insult to injury they have reduced the size by 10g and tried to hide it by a new design jar.

I have been drinking Kenco Rich & Decafe for years, the new receipe change is awful, I don't like it at all and will not be buying it again!! Why change something that was great? I think you have just lost a lot of customers!

First time tried this new coffee, I am disgusted with the taste. Old kenco smooth was tasty but not now, they cutting corners and making cheap rubbish.

Lost a loyal customers, never buying kenco again.

Kenco instant = instantly in the bin

Change the recipe back to the original one. The new one is disgusting leaving a thick brown sludge in the bottom of the cup. It tastes bitter and leaves a long lasting after taste which is unpleasant to put it mildly! We will not be buying any more Kenco instant coffee and will throw out the remaining jar before changing to a new brand.

This is not my kenko anymore, I've been drinking kenko smooth for years and loved it. Now they have changed the recipe and still charge the same price for this crap. Well kenko you have not done yourself any favours, this is the last time I will ever buy this, until you change it back to how it was. Maybe with so many bad reviews they will think again.

Drank this kenco smooth for years now changed the ingredients, Taste like cheap coffee 🤮 Last time I'll be buying this can't even enjoy nice coffee anymore. Nescafe done this same years ago haven't drank that sins either. Why change something everyone likes, Just gonna loose so many customers bad move for us hard core coffee drinkers gutted

What have they done to a once very lovey best selling brand. The taste is awful like almost everybody has stated, as for the silt in the bottom and the bitter taste, being down to coffee bean grounds.
People who generally drink instant coffee dont like the bitter minefield of the coffee snobs favourites

But I’m old enough to know for whatever the change is for, profit, boosting social media ethical which ever they will never admit to a fkup so will be a different brand from now on. Any ideas would be appreciated

Honestly, listen to your customers. The new all inclusive of coffee grounds and sludge is nasty. It leaves a bitter after taste. I would rather pay a bit more for the original product than what you’re passing off now as instant coffee. Like everyone else, I’m done with Kenco coffee, unless you change back. It wasn’t broke and you certainly didn’t fix it.

I cant believe I am writing a review about a jar of coffee but it really is that bad! Kenco smooth has been our instant coffee for years. The new jar I purchased is disgusting. The coffee wont dissolve properly and a scum forms on the surface straight away. This is followed by a dirty coloured ring around the inner edge of the mug as the coffee level goes down, like a dirty ring around a bath! Nicely followed by a vile sludge at the bottom of the cup. A totally revolting experience from start to finish. I am taking this jar back to Tesco for a refund as it surely must be faulty - no company would choose to make a product like this would they? I wonder if they will give the same nasty treatment to the decaff version? I will never buy either version again.

We've been kenco customers for years but recently noted both regular and decaff don't taste as good and leave a bitter dark grain like residue in the cup. I emailed kenco and was given blurb it's raw coffee grounds added for flavour , it seems even google knows about this so for an expensive product its the last time we buy it 🤑

So disappointed in the new recipe instant coffee. I noticed the new label and when I used the coffee I actually thought the extreme summer heat had made it go off. Ordered a new jar to find it was the same. Some bright spark in headquarters has messed with a brand and recipe that was much loved and had a loyal customer base. It now tastes nasty and bitter and leaves an unpleasant looking residue in the bottom of my cup. I see from other reviews I’m not the only dissatisfied customer. Shrinkflation we have to tolerate but I won’t be buying any more until the original recipe returns.

I have enjoyed Kenco Rich Instant Coffee for as long as I can remember, and honestly the only coffee I relied on completely. If it wasn’t Kenco Blue, it wasn’t coffee, and I would simply go without. I used to take it on holiday and always kept several jars in the cupboard so I never ran out.

Unfortunately, the recent, unannounced changes in the product has been extremely disappointing. The flavour and consistency are no longer the same, and the new version should really be marked as a new recipe - I feel that I have been mis-sold a product. The first cup I made with it went straight down the sink. I then had to halve the amount used and stir it, which was never necessary before. There is also now a noticeable residue left at the bottom of the cup, which I understand is due to the added freshly ground coffee that does not dissolve.

I contacted Kenco customer service to ask about the unmarked change, but I did not feel the response was particularly empathetic. I was informed that the product has been changed from 100% instant coffee to 90% instant and 10% freshly ground, and was advised, if I didn't like it to try Jacobs Douwe Egberts Gold instead. While I appreciate the explanation, it does not address the loss of the product I have enjoyed for so long.

For loyal customers, this is a significant change, and I hope the company will reconsider or clearly communicate future recipe changes more transparently. Until then, I will need to use the jars I have in store and look for an alternative.

I have drank this coffee for years and now after a rebrand (less 10g)they have altered the recipe.
I have complained to the company but apparently the feedback was pro new recipe.
It tastes disgusting, looks disgusting and I feel robbed.

There are few things in life that actually tantalise my tastebuds in these days of doom and gloom. One consistent delight has always been my first mug of Kenco Rich as my sleepy eyes and sluggish soul struggle to navigate themselves into a oneness with the world. Not only have I been short changed by 10% (which is actually a blessing to be honest!) but my silky smooth elixir has manifested itself into a sludgy aromalless residue more reminiscent of a cheap brown liquid destined for a plant pot when no one is looking!!! Do Kenco REALLY believe this is an improvement? Or, as I suspect, are we part of an experiment to see how far the consumer's apathy can be tested! Mellow Kenco will make you smile. I don't think so.

The new Kenco smooth has been ruined. The taste is more bitter and the coffee does not disolve leaving a brown sludge at the bottom of the cup.
I've been drinking this for many years and iam looking to change brands.

The new instant rich kenco blend coffee is awful.

I’ve bought and enjoyed Kenko rich instant coffee for many years but not anymore.

The jar I have just purchased is that awful is going in the dustbin, waste of my hard earned money 😢
