Decent recommendation
Account set up easy. Great that wherever your money is, it’s earning interest, more than most banks. Choice of debit card is a nice bonus too. Only used for day to day expenses and a touch of savings. Not had a bad experience since set up 3 months ago. Would be good if they set up a refer a friend scheme, I’d share like mad!

Not sure why there are good reviews here…are they fake?
Not sure why there are reviews here saying the account opening process is quick an easy. Almost 2 weeks passed since I've given this company my persobal information, ID and the video verification. Heard nothing back from them, the app keeps saying they are reviewing my details and to keep an eye on my emails, got nothing so far. There is no contact number or email address to speak to anyone. Got good credit rating so I doubt they have any reason to reject my application. Any other bank would've had my account open from day 1...

Nice looking app, limited info and features hold it back
Opened an account which was quite smooth and easy. It has a great interface even though it's basic but it reminds me of Trading212 which is one of the best for UI's I've seen and if they keep adding to it, it'll become a good contender for other apps (as well as good rates).
Some criticisms are there's limited info such as payment limits. Had to search online to find out and the limits are quite low which rules it out for saving more than £20,000 with them, as the daily limit is £10,000, but the monthly limit is £20,000 which is not great if you want to save more. You can email for more withdrawals but details are limited so I'd rather not risk transferring more money to it.

Most backwards banking experience I ever had
When I read the reviews, I thought people were just being extra petty but they were right. This bank asks a number of invasive questions even before you're able to open an account and, in my case, I'm giving up before I even get there because they have now refused 2 bank statements I submitted as proof of address. Both downloaded directly from my Chase and American Express apps and uploaded to their app, with my address on. I don't know what more I can do but I'm not going to waste any more time - if this is the level of difficulty to open an account, I can't expect the actual banking experience to be any better. Thanks for wasting my time, LHV. I'll be taking my money elsewhere.

Initially installed the app on my…
Initially installed the app on my tablet to try. After going through security etc. my account was up and running. I then loaded on to my phone as my tablet doesn't have fingerprint recognition. This locked me out of my account as you can't have the app on more than one device. Email to customer service, which took nearly all day for a response, got me back up and running. Great interest rate as of today 4.25%

opened a current account , simple process and love the black debit card better looking than first direct's. the app is simple to use but as time goes on would like instant notifications when using debit card etc. I will when overdraft maybe become available move over fully to LHV .

Problem Free Income
Passed security checks and opened account, bit worried when I suddenly was denied access BUT received a phone call to sort things out that was made OUTSIDE their stated hours and was soon back up and running.
The account pays good interest on a current account which means someone like me doesn't have to waste time moving money between accounts to profit from it.
Direct Debits are set up and working and I am already making an income from doing nothing but running a current account.
Couldn't be happier.

Inappropriate levels of customer service
Whilst the app, when it works, is simple and the interest rates are good the customer service is very very slow and security comprises of locking you out your account for up to 4 days despite repeated emails to customer service to assist. This is because they only work Monday to Friday till 16.30. They must move to customer service that deals with banking needs. Be aware of how poor that aspect is. But the good news is the app is simple and I assume my money is pretty secure as even I can't access it twice a month for days.
Unfortunately the response from LHV on 18 March actually reads like it was written by the UK Chancellor trying to avoid any accountability. Just improve the customer service response times and your bank will be better. Avoid the rhetoric of security being your main concern as we know that and are not discussing that. It's incredibly secure such that I can't even get access so your great there. Stop waffling and improve customer service everything else seems good but there is a problem with customer service levels thanks

There are some very poor rating reviews…
There are some very poor rating reviews on here which just don't reflect my experience. The opening process is very simple. The app works well, first time, every time on my basic android phone. The savings rates are among the best available.
I've recommended this bank to two friends who are both more than satisfied.

Terrible communication
Took over the stipulated 5 working days for them to tell me I cannot have an account.
When i chased for an update prior to the decision, this has also gone over the stipulated 2 working days guideline for a reply from support.
This is terrible for a PRA authorised bank.
I have never been rejected for a bank account before and have a brilliant credit score, way above the average.
No reason to reject my account other than they didn't like the fact I held them to account on the delay.
I am actually glad I have been rejected, they've done me a favour.
This is just a warning to others, stay away from them, they are not worth the hassle.
So many better banks out there.

Total lack of communication
I attempted to open a current account with LHV Bank, but after two weeks I had received no communication. I emailed them to check whether there was an issue, yet a further week has passed with no response. This is not the kind of experience you expect from a bank and it seriously undermines confidence in their ability to deal with issues, even if an account were eventually opened.
Update: One month after applying finally received notification that the account is now open.

A real person answered my call, not a machine or chat bot! Their colleague understood my request, and sorted the issue quickly. 5* service and great interest rates!

Great first impression!
Opened the account in minutes and everything worked smoothly. Transfers were instant, the virtual debit card worked immediately in Goolge Wallet, and payments were flawless. I also opened a savings account now earning 4%. A strong first impression overall. The app is clean and minimal, still a bit basic and missing standing orders, but it looks promising. Choice of colours for the debit card. I chose black and it arrived in a couple of days. It's smart - looks almost metallic.

Scared to use
Scared ! I opened the account easy and a nice black card arrived. Immediately the interest dropped which is out of their control. But reading the reviews I'm put of actually using as they seem extreme worse than a bank called Monzx.
No I don't want to put money in and they freeze and the only benefit is fee free usage abroad no cashback etc
So I sadly will close as I don't want more anxiety and then stealing my money

Slow, inresponsive
I tried to do a simple thing, so I thought, of updating my home address after a move. The only way to contact them is via email. The first response comes after 24 hours, asking to upload a passport and a selfie so they can update the address. And even if you do it immediately, they did nothing for 3 days. So I sent a request to close the account, as I can just imagine how frustrating it would be if I actually had any issues to resolve.

BE CAREFUL
BE CAREFUL! Incompetent employees ask endless questions about an account with virtually no activity, under the pretext of AML procedures. They create an appearance of compliance, while at the same time working with crypto exchanges and EMI companies whose anti-money laundering measures are significantly weaker or completely absent.
I believe there are risks to clients’ funds, because if a bank does not comply with AML requirements, its license may be revoked, and in that case clients will receive no more than EUR 100,000 in compensation under the state guarantee scheme.

Worst Bank
Honestly one of the worst banking apps I’ve used. The app is buggy and barely works. You can’t spend your own money without issues, receiving payments means getting questioned about where the money comes from, and sending payments is just as painful. Support is slow and unhelpful, it takes hours to get a response, if you get one at all. Don’t bother. Look elsewhere.
