Drone show Ardingly

Drone show Ardingly, did not put on a show that involved 600 drones, did not complete show, did not marshall car parking areas very well causing delays, did not provide xmas grotto, did not provide a well lit safe route between parking field and entrance, did not provide adequate signage for a public event, did not provide xmas singalong, did not meet there obligations to provide a great experience. Other drone display organisers are having their businesses spoiled by this companies appalling organisation. Looking to have a full refund of the money we paid for an experience not meeting their advertising promises. Please do not buy tickets for any shows by Lumina drones.

AVOID!!!

Without a doubt the worst drone show and Christmas event I’ve ever been to. Half the drones were broken leaving massive gaps in the display making it impossible to make out most of it, the sound was too quiet and was glitched out at the start and then all the drones failed and broke during the finale of the show. It was nothing like what was advertised. I will be seeking a refund and advise anybody to steer clear of this company’s future events. Also be warned, they are now deleting the posts and bad reviews off of Facebook!!

Awful event!!

Such an awful event at Ardingly over the weekend. Shocking parking control with ANPR that involved people taking pictures of number plates and forcing the queue of hundreds of people to wait while they harassed people to pay. The singing was shocking, with the sound quality abhorrent. The Drone display itself was astoundingly rubbish. Im surprised it wasnt a prank as im not sure how a company can mess up this bad. Do not recommend

As Lumina Sky Theatre are now deleting posts and disabling the ability to comment on instagram I will leave our review.
Utter shambles. What an absolute disgrace.
Not only has this been poorly planned but they didn’t even adhere to the advertisement.
Firstly, no Santa’s Grotto and no activities apart from extortionately priced fair ground rides and extortionately priced food.
£7.50 for portion of chips.
£14 for a cold pepperoni pizza
The sing-a-long before the drone show was shambolic. Just two dancers on stage with one singing out of tune and not even in time with the song..
The “Drone show” is absolutely terrible. It’s absolutely crap!
Half the images I could barely make out.
Half the drones didn’t even work. There was audio issues as well as drones completely failing 5 mins before the end and half time we were sat there looking at twinkling lights.
At the end there were no claps. Just boo’s.
Then we come to the car parking situation…
Big field, mud everywhere, zero cohesion.
Over hour to get out..
A rating doesn’t exist for this. 0/10 is just to generous.
What a complete disgrace.
DO NOT EVER GO TOO AN EVENT HELD BY THIS COMPANY!

One star is one star too many sadly

One star is one star too many sadly. An appalling experience from before even getting into the venue. Parking was hours of chaos with “ANOR” which was two chaps taking a photo of your reg with their phones. Then getting stuck in the mud. Then inside it was not Christmasy at all, no Christmas stalls other than a giant blow up Rudolph, not Santa’s grotto as promised. The pre drone sing along was enough to traumatise a child it was so bad. Delayed drones, half the drones not working and hardly anything could be made out. From what I saw of the “fire display” it may be good for a crowd of 100, not a crowd of 5000 - the fires weren’t much bigger than a candle. Then getting out the venue was an hour of queues whilst getting pushed out the mud. No outcome offered by organisers that is acceptable - i.e a refund. The basic tickets were over £20 a head just for basic ones and £10 parking!! What a monumental rip off.
This event was poorly planed, poorly executed and poorly dealt with after receiving honest feedback from customers.
I’m sure the light show could have been great if there weren’t technical difficulties but this doesn’t distract from the rest of the event! Everything was extortionately expensive!

A complete scam.

A complete scam.
Over priced tickets, over priced food, (£11 for a burger), the car park was a dangerous sea of mud. The actual drone show was just awful. Only half the drones worked, and you could not work out what was being presented. The story was terrible and frightening for young children.

Santa's grotto did not exist (it was promised), and the 'entertainment' was second rate. Walked out after 10 minutes.

If I could choose zero stars that is what I would have rated this. My experience with Luminas Rudolph event for Christmas was absolutely disgraceful. False advertisement at its finest!! Avoid at all costs!!

Shambles of an event

If I could give 0 stars I would. The drone display was extremely disappointing. Many drones malfunctioned, making the images impossible to interpret — even the title “Rudolph” was unreadable. The display started late and then ended abruptly when the drones shut off entirely.

Several of the features heavily promoted as part of the event were missing altogether. There was no carol singing, no Christmas activities, and no Santa’s grotto. The food and drink was ridiculously overpriced - kids meals were £15!

There were one-hour queues just to enter the venue, and then leaving the event was even worse. The car park was complete chaos, with cars stuck for over an hour. I saw vehicles stuck in the mud and even two collisions as drivers tried to force their way out with no staff guidance.

What should have been a festive, enjoyable experience turned into a stressful and disappointing evening.

Company is a huge CON !

Company is a huge CON !! All they care about it your money. Ardingly Drone show 30th Nov.

I paid well over £100 for 4 VIP Tickets which promised the following.
- VIP areas
- VIP queue skipping
- TOKENS each to use at ALL food stalls to exchange for a free meal each.
- Santas Gotto
-Christmas Market
- Christmas atmosphere
- 600 Drone Show
- Fun Fair Rides

What we got..
- No VIP areas (only a tiny area which was pointless)
- NO SANTA GROTTO
- NO Christmas atmosphere
- NO Christmas anything really
- EXPENSIVE fairground rides £4-5 per person and child.
- Expensive and Rubbish food. £15 for a small cold burger.
- VIP food tokens were pointless as only a couple of stalls accepting them and these were only Mexican or Indian. So not ideal for childern.
- Drone show was an shamble! Hardly any drones worked, couldnt work out what the images were.
- Entertainment was so rubbish, it was a tacky out of sync karaoke.
- Parking was a joke! It was utter carnage getting out. Took everyone over an Hour to leave.

The company will not give you refunds, AVOID AVOID AVOID

Absolutely Awful Experience - Rudolf the Red-Nose Reindeer, Ardingly.

Absolutely Awful Experience. Overpriced, extremely underwhelming and simply lacking in everything advertised. Not to forget, hidden parking charges on arrival and a significant lack of H&S. They have been reported to the HSE as I believe that it was just through fortune that somebody wasn't seriously hurt or killed at this event.

Stand well clear any event hosted or promoted by Lumina Events.

Terrible event

Terrible event, I dont know where to start.

Queued for over an hour to get in the 'car park'. A marshall tried to direct me to drive across an open field that numerous other cars were stuck in the mud. I refused and parked just off the tarmac where I knew I could leave. The marshall was irate with me but with two small children why on earth would I knowingly drive into a hazardous situation?

The event itself - no festive feel at all. Eye wateringly expensive and terrible quality food (chips and a sausage £15). A fun fair that was extortionate (£5 per child for a 2 minute kiddie ride). That was it. Nothing else.

The light show - well enough has been said about this - diabolical is the word. The pre show 'entertainment' was appalling. The 'DJ' was a bloke from the pub I think. The light show a complete epic fail.

Then we had to leave. It was mayhem. I understand the frustration of everyone trying to leave but with a pram and poor lighting it was so dangerous. Cars sliding around in the mud, people shouting - the apocalypse was near.

Overall the worst ever experience and over £100 spent. Next time I will take the kids to the garden centre grotto and get better value.

Horrible

Horrible, awful, disgusting. All of those words plus more. No Santa's grotto, no neurodiverse zones, no christmas activities, no working food tokens for vip, nowhere to sit, no safe parking, no signage, no information from staff. The drone show was a joke. Noone could make put any of the shapes, the music rarely matched anything then 11 mins in it stopped working. Inappropriate banter from the m/c when speaking to children, 3 dancing and screaming women who didn't know any dances or songs. Absolutely the worst thing I've ever had the displeasure of attending.

Lumina Sky Drones - Rudolph 2025

I can safely say this was the worst event I have ever attended. Four adults and one child cost in excess of £111.00 and for that we queue for 40 minutes to park in a field where people were getting stuck continuously. The parking was £7-10 per car!

The event was missing advertised elements altogether. The 'entertainment' consisted of 2 dreadful dancers with lights on their rear ends, mics failed and the sound was dreadul, amateurish performances. The promised fire show, carol singing, face painting and Santa's Grotto were absent. Food and beverage prices were beyond extortionate.

The Drone show had sound issues and skipped the first few minutes, then so few drones went up the images could not be deciphered. This culminated in the drones failing completely and the narration continued over and empty sky. This was greeted by a chorus of booing from a very disappointed crowd.

At this point most abandoned the Showground and exited en mass back to the still boggy car parking where many got stuck again before queuing for upto an hour to get out.

All in all it was abysmal, disappointing and a complete rip off.

Lumina sky theatre - Rudolph 2025

We attended the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer show at the South of England Showground this evening (30/11/25). Yesterday’s performance was cancelled due to bad weather, which is completely understandable — safety has to come first.

Unfortunately, the rescheduled show tonight was a real let-down, despite the fact the weather was perfect: calm winds, no rain, clear skies.

The evening started with a dance act that was, frankly, awful — the dancer on the microphone sounded unsteady, almost as if she’d had a drink. After that, the announcer told us the drone display would still go ahead, but would be delayed by a further 30 minutes.

When the drone show finally began, there were multiple audio problems. Worse still, the display itself didn’t resemble what had been advertised. We were told to expect around 600 drones (as per the CAA/NOTAM information), but only about 120 appeared. Instead of forming recognisable images, it just looked like random dots in the sky. Another technical issue then cut the performance short and the drones landed before the show had finished.

The team running the event handled the whole situation badly. After delaying everyone by 24 hours and then another 30 minutes tonight, they still seemed to expect people to be grateful. The crowd clearly felt otherwise — there was loud booing and chants about getting refunds.

Given it cost £85 for a family of four, plus £10 to park in a muddy field where cars were getting stuck, refunds should be issued immediately.

To make matters worse, the company appears to be trying to control the narrative rather than address the problem. They’ve spent the last hour deleting critical comments on Facebook while watching people’s social media stories.

What was delivered wasn’t close to what was advertised. This feels like taking money under false pretences
