Mannheim came to inspect my lease car…m
Mannheim came to inspect my lease car today and almost immediately the inspector didn't like the fact that I had a Ring doorbell and Ring camera which I pointed out to him when he completed his car check and my first meaningful conversation. He also took umbrage on me asking what his qualifications were to give an experts view on a car's condition ie I asked him if he was a fully trained mechanic or car body specialist his reply was that he was a BVRL trained inspector, that's a no then!
It was clear by his attitude at this time he had no intention of completing this inspection and was riled by the Ring system and walked off because I wouldn't look at some stone chips on the vehicle which is wear and tear in my eyes.
Ring doorbells and cameras can be found on the majority of residential properties and I do not have to give permission to anyone who visits my home, delivery drivers, post person, or car collection companies. This guy was the most obnoxious and arrogant man and also it was clear that he did not like me asking questions. I've sent the video evidence on this man's behaviour to Hyundai and they can decide how/when the car will be collected, one thing is clear I will not allow this person to set foot on my property again. I'm aware also that Mannheims policy is to always find something wrong with the car even though it's a car that's 3 years old and done over 30,000 miles it's not been sat in garage for last 3 years, they have their own auction house, so it's quite clear what there game is. Let's just say the have zero integrity, it's an exercise in trying to squeeze as much money out of people at the end of there lease. It won't work with me as they won't get one penny as I'll dispute every single thing and let a court decide if need be, but they won't go that far as they don't want the bad publicity that brings.

A quick & pleasant experience!
After reading lots of negative reviews, I was really anxious about my inspection, despite my car being undamaged and in fantastic condition.
However, it turns out I had nothing to worry about. Richard arrived on time, completed the inspection within 15 minutes and assured me there’s no damage or charges to be made.
Overall a pleasant experience!

Positive experience
Having read many negative reviews, I was very nervous about the end of lease inspection.
Colin was great, he stayed for about half an hour and picked up one chargeable issue which I was expecting.
Overall a very positive experience.

I leased a Mercedes A-Class through…
I leased a Mercedes A-Class through Leasys on a business contract. The car was well looked after and returned at the end of the term with only superficial wear. Manheim, the inspection company used by Leasys, quoted me over £2,000 for “repairs” — mostly minor scratches and a cracked wing mirror.
What shocked me wasn’t just the charge, but the setup: Manheim is part of a group that also auctions cars. In other words, they inspect your returned car, assign high repair costs (whether justified or not), and then potentially auction it — benefiting from own deflated value. This is a clear breach of ethics.
I disputed the charge, raised a complaint with the BVRLA, and was shut down. As a business customer, the Financial Ombudsman wouldn’t take my case. I ended up paying the full amount, because the system is airtight — and not in a good way.
If you're considering a lease with Leasys, be extremely cautious about the end-of-lease process. Take independent photographs, get a third-party inspection if possible, and don’t expect much help if you disagree with the outcome.
This was an expensive and frustrating experience, and I hope my review saves someone else from the same.

Anxious customer put at ease
Having read all the reviews I was very anxious about my car collection. Jamie was the inspector and he explained the process clearly and was very polite. My car has been well looked after for 4 years and no damage highlighted. Quick process. Thanks Jamie!

Absolute joke of a service
Absolute joke of a service. Originally booked to have my car collected. Everything was fine with the car and then on the morning of the inspection my appointment was cancelled because the person was ill. I was then booked in for almost 2 weeks later and told my car would be put on their insurance so I wouldn't have to pay longer. I sent all the information they needed for this to be done and then heard absolutely nothing back so god knows if it was even insured for that period.
On the date of the second appointment, the inspectors turned up late and then the car wouldn't start due to a flat battery which won't have been helped by the fact I wasn't allowed to move the car the entire time. The inspectors left and said someone would be in touch. Once again, no one contacted me.
I eventually got in touch with Manheim myself who told me it's basically no longer their problem and that I would also no longer be insured. So my car has been left on the road, uninsured for an extended period because nobody decided to speak to me. Would I have been told any of this if I didn't call and ask myself?
The car is running again, a mechanic has looked at it and deemed there are no issues with the car or the battery and it had just gone flat. I let my finance provider know this, and they advised me to contact Manheim to rebook. I have just this second done that and I've been told my car is not available on their system and I'll have to call back 4 days from now. I should mention every single time I've called them (3 or 4 times at this point) my car never appears to be showing on the system which is worrying in itself.
So now I have a car I've been trying to give back for 2 weeks, sat outside collecting dust, tasking up a space, and using a resident parking pass. It's still not clear whether it's insured or if it has ever been insured this entire time. And all of it is my financial burden and my problem because they had no contingency in place for someone being ill. If you have the ability to avoid them, I'd recommend avoiding them.

Try not to worry too much...
If like me you had read the reviews and assumed the worst then perhaps calm down a little. I had assumed we'd have a fight on our hands having had many lease collections before without too much issue.
In the past I have taken the view that if the car is clean for them to inspect and you truly believe its got no issues then you'll be fine. If its got damage you know is an issue, get it repaired as they are only doing their job and will probably spot it and the lease company will charge the earth for it....
In the end, Alex picked up the vehicle today and was courteous, professional and reasonable. A couple of small dents and scratches which I doubt will be an issue, no attempt to create issues over something that weren't issues and he spent time showing me each item.
That's their job, that's what he did....no problem with that.

David was amazing
I was really nervous before the inspection as my car has a few dents and imperfections and I read all the negative reviews before, but David was honestly amazing. So kind, genuine, and completely put me at ease. He went over the car thoroughly and explained everything clearly - it took about 30 minutes, and everything he mentioned was stuff I already knew about, which was reassuring.
Once we went over the pricing and paperwork, another team member arrived almost immediately and drove the car away. The whole process was so seamless and much easier than I expected. I know reviews can be mixed, but everyone’s experience is different - if you get David, you’ll be absolutely fine!!

Awful- complaint to be made
I have leased several cars and am well aware of end of lease charges and have never had a bill of more than £300 from BCA. Unfortunately my car was picked up by Manheim today and the charges were ridiculous. I genuinely thought I would have no charges as the car was that well kept. Sean was unhelpful and did not like me watching what he was doing. He spent ages going around looking for the smallest thing he could find and picking on the paintwork of the car with his nails. The total charges added up to £1385. Other than one small scuff all other reports he made were impossible to see. He charged £100 for missing documentation and didn’t explain what was missing. The car was serviced twice as planned so I’m not sure what documentation he needed. Sean did not explain anything properly and just said you can disagree. He said there was dirt in the paint which I have no idea what he means as the car was clean and no visible damage. I am going to raise a complaint.

OUTRAGEOUS SERVICE
If I could give this review 0 stars I would. I was very apprehensive about my car inspection after reading the reviews for Manheim inspections and my today concerns were confirmed. The male who inspected my car was very arrogant and rude in his manner. Having had lease vehicles for many years and never having had any issues on return I was left disappointed by this inspection. My car was 3 and a half years old and in excellent condition. There were no bumps, scratches or marks and all alloys were in perfect condition. The male inspector was on his hands and knees using reflective strips to “find dents”. When challenged about this I was met with a “phone the office if you’re not happy”. When he finished the report, which I refused to sign, he told me if I “duck my head side on, from this angle, you’ll see the small dents in the sunshine.” Essentially I was penalised for it being a nice day. He was using reflective strips and zoomed in cameras to find said dents and was unable to point them out to the naked eye when asked. Safe to say I would never buy another Nissan if that’s the inspection company they use. Be very wary! I refused to sign the report and will now take this up with the finance company.

Pleasantly surprised after reading the reviews online
Received an email from my leasing company stating manheim was carrying out end of lease inspection and after reading the reviews was apprehensive from the get go.
Alex turned up and carried out inspection updating as he went along. Pleased to say it went well and no issues as was within fair wear and tear.

Overzealous and excessive on damage report. Very different outlook on fair wear and tare. Which is definately not fair. I will never take a lease with novuna while they continue to use manheim. There must be some commission based fee going on. bad end to a lease.

Not sure what I was worried about!
After reading the other reviews I was very anxious about having my end of lease inspection, despite knowing that there was hardly anything wrong with the car. So I got the car valeted the day before, made sure it was spotless, and left the inspector alone to do his inspection. At the end he went through his findings which I agreed with and off went the car never to be seen or heard of again.
Apart from the anxiety caused by all the bad reviews, the whole experience was otherwise pleasant. They send a checklist in advance so as long as you follow it there isn’t too much that can go wrong.
Can't Believe I'm Giving a 5 Star Rating
This is Leaf no4 for me. I was absolutely dreading Manheim collecting my car. Every time they have been awful. I agreed with all the 1 star reviews and expected the worse. Today Chris collected my car. Nice calm bloke who was very polite. I NEVER thought I'd be leaving a 5 star review for this company, and can see that others have also written similar reviews who has been expecting the usual nightmare. Manheim have obviously upped their game by employing decent reasonable people at long last.

I was so worried but all fine in the end
I didn’t sleep well at all the night before my Nissan Leaf was collected, having read the 1 star reviews on here! I’d cleaned and valeted the car (luckily the dealer did this at the service last week), but was out there at 8am drying it off and demisting the windows lest they refuse to look at it!
Antony arrived on time and was a nice, calm, polite guy. He took about 25 mins checking the car whilst I nipped off to do the school run. I’d only had the car 2 years and had been super careful, nothing I could find on it that would be over the guidelines, but again was worried despite!
Antony showed me his findings, a few stone ships on bumper, to be expected after 24000 miles. A small dent in the back door seal due to one of the kids probably trapping a seatbelt (doh!). He said £60 for that as an estimate but when the email came through it had been zeroed. So all that stress and no charge at all.
So as long as you look after your car and you do the tick sheet checklist (Novuna sent one by email), charge your EV and make sure the service book is fully filled out by the dealer, my experience is that you shouldn’t lose sleep worrying! Phew!

Very good experience
I was a bit nervous having seen the negative reviews but needn't have worried at all Antony arrived and explained the process and timescale, asked for all thr documentation and then I left him to get on with the inspection. At the end of the inspection, which took about 30 mins, he went through the report and the two small items he found which i sgreed with.
Overall a very good experience, Antony was very professional and courteous throughout.
