I made arrangements for Modest Movers in Jasper, GA to unload our U Haul. I called to confirm a few days before our move from Florida. They attempted to contact me the day before our confirmed day but I was driving the entire day and was unable to talk or text. When I tried to find out when they would be arriving I was told that they had tried to contact me for several days (untrue because they would be in my phone!) They only called the day before. They did send me a text the scheduled morning telling me that it was my fault because I didn't tell them what time to arrive when we spoke. They never asked me what time but I had set everything up for morning.

Lies from the very beginning!!! Yes, they are a broker. Who do they hire your move to? Thieves. Is your stuff safe? No, it’s rummaged through and the good expensive stuff is stollen, the rest of your stuff is damaged. Do they care? NO!!! Are they responsible, reliable, courteous? NO!!!! Are you triple charged? Yes!!!! Their move will ruin your life. I can’t believe they are still in business?!!! How is this possible!!!!

They allowed a person I didn’t know to add his name to the contract all. I gave cash for my lady friend to pay the deposit and when they requested a card she got her friend to pay. Modest move placed his name on the contract as the owner of the contract without my approval. Then when he and them got into dispute they held onto my properties and added his contract costs to mine. Then lied saying this person gave my name for them to add it. They sent me a bill and when I asked fora breakdown of the charges, they refused to give it. I can only say I have never in all my years seen such a dishonest company. Please don’t use them

They are a broker. Sub contract company showed up at 5:30 pm on day of move. Said estimate was not correct from Modest Moving. Charged 2.5 times more. Truck wasn’t big enough. We had to wait 2 days for second truck. Knocked over mailbox. Put 3 holes in drywall and 3 ft scratch in hardwood floor. Moving from Michigan to Georgia and had to put stuff in storage. Asked for delivery 11/29 and my stuff still not loaded on truck as of 12/4 and in Chicago. Sub contractor All Moving says we didn’t pay premium for guaranteed delivery so they have up to 30 days to deliver. Two of the worst companies. Do not use.

Modest movers are robbers. They underestimate your inventor and hold you hostage. Their subcontractor makes you sign a new contract because they do not accept Modest Movers contract. These people should have criminal charges weighed against them. Their subcontractor showed up late and held us hostage for additional $$$at 11 pm and quadrupled storages charges. They also broke a lot of items and the insurance that you sign with Modest movers is not valid with the subcontractor. DO NOT HIRE THEM. STAY FAR, FAR AWAY!!!!

We have been delayed for a week now. They said they would be here but then never call or show up that day…we had to call every morning at 5 am-6 am to figure things out because other than that we never truly got help. The lack of communication blew my mind! Out of the whole week they only called us back maybe 3 times._ We just got lied to or wasn’t told the full truth about the company. We were also told that we pay half the deposit before hand then AFTER delivery you pay the rest. But when the driver finally showed up he wanted more money from us and in cash. Then his papers didn’t match ours which we didn’t sign or agree to… we had to wait another day to figure it out. I talked to three different people the next morning from the moving company. Two people couldn’t help us and said we had to pay cash and the third one said she’d call us back and possibly have everything we agreed on actually go as planned, but never got a call back. Then the driver was going to charge us more money for waiting that morning because we weren’t going to pay him more money than we were supposed to. We couldn’t afford that especially being delayed for a week! We couldn’t get our refund/ deposit back which we paid more than half on. Since we canceled when the driver arrived we lost the refund! We had to buy a storage unit and now wait till we have more money to go through more of a trustworthing moving company. We lost more than 2 grand because of the lack of communication. Because of this my son didn’t get to his grandmas birthday in time, and is going to miss Halloween since we have to drive to Georgia from Oregon. We spent more money being here for that extra week. We also lost a deal on a house in Georgia because of this. They lie and say they’ll call back, they lie about truly giving u a discount, they’re untrustworthy. They never gave us a heads up about them not showing up each day as we sat there! We literally had to call every morning and at the end of it we got screwed over! Very disappointing even talking to customer service didn’t help much.

BEWARE, this is a broker and they will give you a great estimate and then change it! Then when they give it to the actual movers you will get another price and it will be past timeframe to cancel. Plus after they turn it over to the movers you will not be able to get in touch with anyone from modest movers! Total scam

****BEWARE**** this is the worst company I have ever dealt with! They are total shysters! The customer service rep is charming and earns your confidence. They lie about everything thereafter. They forged my name in the contract, under quoted my move and held my belongings hostage until they were able to extort more money from me. When I finally received my belongings, everything was broken, wet and moldy. They stated they would only take cash or a money order “so I could not cancel” before they would unload my property. Steer clear of these criminals!!!!

Stay far away!!! They will call the day before your move and tell you that the price is now double what you originally were quoted in your contract. The sales people lure you in with a rate that is significantly less than competitors. They figure people will just pay the additional amount, because what else are you going to do when the move is scheduled for the next day? Its particularly despicable that they take advantage of people and make moving, which is already stressful, even moreso. When they tried to increase my rate at the last minute I told them that this is exactly what all the reviews said they would do. Anna told me the reviews were irrelevant, and that people can just write whatever they want in a review, but the reviews were spot on! They penalize you for trusting them to honor your original contract. Save yourself the frustration and go with another company.

If I could give zero stars I would. They are evil people. They kept changing the price - including the day of the move - and the day they delivered. They lost my items - one being my headboard which attaches to the rest of the bed. My 3000 mountain bike, which I’m sure wasn’t “lost.” They are crooks. Do. Not. Use. Them.

They showed up exactly on time and very professionally and courteously moved everything without damaging a single item or either house. I could not have been happier with the move. I don't know of anything more that could be asked of a moving company.

Warning. Do not use this company. We had a bad experience. Estimate more than tripled once all was complete. They took a credit card for initial deposit and then we were required to pay cash after. Items arrived 2 weeks late. They ARE a broker. Lots of promises up front that fall empty.

While the review before was excellent. I didn’t get the same experience. My customer service Rep basically lied to me from day ONE to get the sell. About two weeks before my move I reached out to Modest movers and spoke the a lady at the time was very professional and understanding. I had no idea I was getting played for a fool. I told her my situation, that I was moving from Dallas, Tx to KC, Mo. I was asked about my items, I had couch, loveseat, two barstools, head and foot board, mattress, box spring, 3 large totes and about 20 boxes. I also informed her of the distance from the loading dock to my apartment. Which she said was no problem. She gave a quote of she gave me a quote of $3067.00, however gave a “discount” of about 90% (stated on the quote) SCAM! They get that $3000, they definitely found a way, trust me. I didn’t have the deposit up front, because at the time I was just calling around. She said in order to hold the quote I would have to put down $585.00 (I’m pretty sure this is her commission) I wouldn’t have it until that Friday, she put me on hold and ask her supervisor if she could hold the quote (her commission) until then? I call her that Friday and give my deposit. At that time I was promised that she would be walking me through the whole process, until my furniture reaches it’s final destination… LIAR! Pretty much she got that deposit I heard nothing from her. Oh this story gets better, fast forwarding to a couple of days before the move, a different young lady calls me to confirm the move, she told me the date of 9/16/22, She then starts to read off my list. The list was wrong, we got that corrected, so I thought. I asked if the movers could dismount my tv. “Of course, I will put in the notes” I also stated that because I was starting my new job that Monday I wanted to be home that Friday and would like for the move to start as early as possible. She stated that she would put notes in the system for that as well. NONE of this was done, but I’ll get to that. After speaking her everything was set (so I thought) I am to wait for a phone call from dispatch, didn’t get a phone; I got a text, stating that the movers were going to be there 9/17/22 between 7pm-9pm, ABSOLUTELY NOT! I reached out and made it very clear my move must happen on 9/16/22 as confirmed, the rep then stated they will look into it and call me back. She TEXTED me that dispatch will be calling me that evening with the time for the correct date of 9/16/22, A few hours later I get a call from dispatch giving me my time, the of 1pm-3pm to expect the movers, NOPE, I told them I needed the earliest time you have, he then told me the movers will be there between 9am-12pm, I had no choice but to agree to this. Now moving day, The movers did not make it until late noon. I ask them if they were informed that the tv needs dismount, he said “no” I also ask if they were informed about the distance between the truck and my apartment, he said “no” He doesn’t say much as we’re walking the hallway, while he was speaking it was in Arabic so I’m not sure what was being said. He calls someone once he made it to my apartment speaking with them in Arabic, gets off the phone and tells me that it was going to be an additional $550 for the walk down the hallway. Of course this immediately changes my mood, I call my rep, (You know, the person that is supposed to be helping through this the WHOLE way! yeah, the one I don’t hear from unless I call her… that one.) I tell her that he is stating I will need to pay an additional $550, she puts me on hold for a minute, gets back on and ask me if I have it. I stated that I really didn’t have it. She asked if I could get the money, and that they would reimburse me once I file a claim. I figure out who I could get it from and proceed with the process. We get past that hump only to run into a MAJOR one, I was told that my items were going to be traveling to KC and be in a storage space not too from from my home, Nope, movers told me that my items are getting stored in a space in TX, not at all what I agreed on, nor is it on the quote or was I told that this would be the case. I again call my rep tell her they said my items are being stored in TX, that’s not what I agreed on, it states on the quote that my items where going to be stored in KC. She states, no they store them in Texas, at this point I have choice, it had to be stored in Texas and then they will move my item at a later date. This bothers me because this is not what I agreed on, I have idea where this space is or if my items will be cared for and secure. I feel very violated by Modest Movers and the movers. Fast forward to my items being packed, they did a good job covering my items. We get to the end and I see the young man adding up some things, he then tells me that I owe the 2,595 plus $550 for the walk. I could go on, but I don’t have space left. Please move your items with a different company. Filing a complaint with BBB first thing Monday.

Do not waste your money on this company. The moving company quoted us 3x the initial amount after they showed up the day of. Modest mover is just a broker, despite calling them several times they were unwilling to help. Even if we would have only moved the smallest box, there was no way we could have ever reached the initial quote. And per contract you can’t cancel anymore on the day of without losing the deposit. It’s a lose lose, just avoid them from the beginning.

They lied about the about the amount of space and the quote. I had a quote that should have included my entire house. However, we decided to sell about 40% of our large furniture, which was a large 7 piece sectional, a table with 6 chairs that was on the back porch, a queen size storage bed, and a bunk bed. You would have thought we would have plenty of room on the truck for the rest of the house and actually possibly get a refund. Wrong, they wanted to charge me 500 to just get my king mattress on truck.

Then when I get it delivered there were additional charges, they are only paid to go 50', not the "just point where you want them to take it" I was told. Also, everything was damaged. My rugs were placed jammed against the door and soaking wet. My $4-5k master bed was damaged on every piece. No response from the company on how to resolve.

Be ware or these "lowest cost" movers, they are just brokers from some local help. Thats why the pickup and delivery is paid in cash, as the company doesn't actually employ the people moving.

Would give this a 0 star if I could. Quoted $3,000 less then we were charged upon mover arrival. Horrible communication and received items many days after the decided date. Also, had 3 missing items which we were unable to get reimbursed for and the insurance we were offered covered $12.

This is worst moving company. The staff is not responsible. They keep changing their pick up times. They arrived 4 days late and came around 8.00 at night. The two movers came with no packing material and took 5 hours to pack four things and to load in the van. On the top of it they charged us 450 dollars more to which we agreed and signed the form. Later on they added thousand dollars and refuse to give us a copy. After arguing we had to make copy our selves and when we refused to pay them the thousand dollars, they left and delivered the goods 4 days late. The people who came to unload we very inefficient. Don't hire this company to move your stuff. Worst company ever .

The staff were very helpful in the beginning process. Set me up, quoted and a written contract signed. Then they subcontracted with 3 different movers to get me from Wisconsin to Texas. Each contractor wanted more money, and told me that Modest Moving quotes were unrelyabe. No one would return calls, or help me with the sub contractors. I am still trying to track down missing items that no one will respond to.

still waiting for my stuff they picked up 7/6 they siad one price and then it went from 15k to 24k wth to boot they didnt take all our stuff . they said we would get an 18 wheeler the showed up in two box trucks . they left more half my stuff my house a 5 bedroom house I am still waiting ... we called every day it will be put on truck this week end and nothing else. we had to rent a truck to move some of what they left behind an drove from New YORK to Texas WTH and no stuff I feel cheated robbed mistreated WHERE ARE MY THINGS WHY DID YOU ALL LIE LIERS seriously they insulted us when they loaded the truck had my kids in tears . I am so upsett and why dont people call us back why

They kept up charging me per cubic feet. Jonathan lied and will act like he has your back. Do not use them.
