I recently moved to Edinburgh after securing a permanent lecturing position at the University of Edinburgh, which has been an exciting new chapter in my life. I relocated in July and stayed with a friend until I found an apartment in Marchmont in October. The transition could have been stressful, but thanks to Claire Green, the Associate Director at Marrie and Currie, it was a smooth and pleasant experience.

I have been renting my flat for a month now and so far, I am having a great experience with Murray and Currie. They are very reactive and helpful. I recently moved to Scotland from another country and did not have a lot of time to find accommodation. The agents, and especially Claire have done everything they can to help me. They are always happy to help and answer your questions and are very quick to respond if there is any issue. I highly recommend!

I used Murray and Currie to let my property for a few years and was happy with the service received from all aspects of staff. I’m afraid I feel let down by them now after my last tenant moved out and left my property in a disgusting state broken furniture filthy walls and fittings. I had to replace many items and redecorate the whole flat at great expense it felt like we were paying this family to live there. They moved on in May. I am still awaiting a decision from the deposit scheme after evidence I’ve provided. I think they hope I’ll go away.

Eveything I need or wondering about I would call the company & they would response to all my enquiries ASAP.

For a first renter in Edinburgh Murray and Currie have been super - really responsible, professional and thorough and very speedy to sort maintenance issues.

Smooth process, from applying for the property to moving in. They have been helpful throughout, although no information was given about how utilities would be handled until I collected the keys.

Unfortunately when we moved into the a rental property the kitchen was not clean, although the inventory check listed it as clean. Really it was discustjng and unfit for use. We cleaned ourselves and asked for recompense. This request was refused and we were told we could just leave it in the same state when we move out! The toilet was also cracked and leaking when we arrived. After reporting it is two weeks later and we are still waiting for a new one to be fitted. Now we have thoroughly cleaned the place we are happy in it but the agency have lacked professional standards. Very unlike any other I have dealt with in the past.

The viewing process and securing the property process was very seamless. Staff were helpful over both email and phone. The flat is great.

The only issues were when I moved in the property wasn’t completely ready to move into, the maintenance requests took over a month to be resolved e.g flooring was due to be replaced and one was not resolved so I decided just to sort myself.

Apart from that the application process and communication has been good, in addition to the property.
