I genuinely wouldn’t recommend this accountancy firm to anyone.

I’m honestly shocked by the way Ruta has spoken to me as a paying client. Absolutely no professionalism, no respect, and at times I felt like I was being spoken down to or even intimidated for simply asking questions about my own taxes.

I paid €1,000 to have my taxes sorted, only to be left chasing things up, dealing with constant delays and getting nowhere with my questions. When I asked for proper explanations or facts to back up what I was being told, the usual response was along the lines of “I know the entire Revenue book off by heart.” Well, clearly that wasn’t much use, because I repeatedly had to do my own research, bring the information back to them and only then would they actually look into how the rules applied to my business.

One example was my eFlow expenses, which they refused to claim despite me being able to provide evidence that the journeys were wholly for business purposes. Rather than properly explaining their reasoning, my concerns were simply dismissed.

They also registered my business for VAT from a date I strongly believe was incorrect, given the circumstances and what could reasonably have been anticipated about my turnover at the time. This ended up costing me a significant amount of money.

Despite my dissatisfaction with the work carried out, they refused to refund the €1,000.

What makes it even worse is the communication. I sent an email with a number of questions and was told I’d receive a phone call. Nearly a month later, I’m still waiting for that call. Maybe I’ll get it next year!

Another thing I find strange is that in previous years they never requested bank statements from me, or any other person I know uses their services, yet suddenly their approach to checking everything seems to have completely changed. It certainly makes me question how thoroughly things were being handled before.

For an accountancy firm dealing with people’s businesses, finances and tax obligations, you’d expect accurate advice, clear explanations and at the very least some basic manners.

Based on my experience, I have very little confidence in their competence or professionalism. Paying a professional shouldn’t mean having to research everything yourself just to get a straight answer.

Wouldn’t go near them again.

After 1y (2024) of service, we paid 75% in advance for 2025 services. Suddenly, MyBalance then stopped acting for our company and in Nov 25 de-registered itself as our Revenue agent with an notifying email "I will remove your invoice from our system...I say goodbye".
Further, they refused to transfer company records to our new accountant, stating that we owed(!) additional amounts, which they refused to accept even if any(?!). All is factual with written correspondence.

No explanations, no file handover, no refund since then. Not accredited with any Irish accounting professional body.

Legal action initiated to recover the payment and we will update... This raises serious concerns about professional conduct for an accounting service provider, given the potential harm it can cause to businesses... We would be interested to understand whether others have had such or similar experiences in the past? Very shocking experience...
