Olgish Cakes is a small artisan bakery in Leeds, founded by me, Olga, a professionally trained Ukrainian baker with a passion for traditional cakes. I moved to Leeds in 2022 and brought with me the recipes and techniques I grew up with in Ukraine. I specialise in making authentic Ukrainian cakes such as Honey Cake, Kyiv Cake and Napoleon Cake, all beloved classics with a long history in Eastern Europe. These cakes are made with care, using quality ingredients and time-honoured methods, to give you a truly unique experience. They are not just desserts, they are a little taste of Ukrainian culture. Each cake is beautifully layered, delicately balanced in flavour and made fresh to order. Whether you are celebrating a birthday, wedding, or simply want to enjoy something different with your afternoon tea, Olgish Cakes brings something new to the table. My dream is to share these traditional recipes with my new community here in England, introducing people to flavours many have never tried before. Get ready to taste something special, a slice of Ukraine baked with love.

Stunning birthday cake
I recently ordered a special birthday cake for a friend’s party. Olga helped me choose one to suit all the guests, including two coeliacs, one with a nut allergy, and one with a chocolate intolerance! . We chose the GF Delicia (made with cornflour). It went down well with all the guests, and the design was stunning. It was delivered on time, with the ingredients and allergens listed on the box. A great success.

Cake perfection
I’ve been wanting to try Olgish cakes for a while so when they came to Bramley market I was very excited. I initially purchased a slice of Napoleon cake and Sachertorte and was also persuaded to try a slice of the Kyiv cake (I won’t lie it wasn’t a difficult sale to make it looked lovely). So did they taste as good as they looked? The answer is a resounding yes, the Napoleon cake was fantastic and the Sachertorte was chocolatey, moist and divine, my wife said the Sachertorte was nicer than the one she had in the actual Sacher hotel. Finally the Kyiv cake, utterly divine in a trio of heavenly cakes this was amazing and easily my favourite so thank you for persuading me to try it.

The cake was delicious and looked scrumptious. I had requested a specific design which she was able to recreate as the cake's decoration. It made for a lovely centrepiece.
