Patient Access – ongoing login
Patient Access – ongoing login failure despite NHS Login being offered as a secure sign-in method
I am continuing to experience a persistent and unresolved technical failure with Patient Access, and I am still unable to reliably access my account, medical records or prescriptions.
On Sunday, 1 Aug 2026 at approximately, I was attempting to log in to my own Patient Access account when Patient Access displayed the message:
“We’ve detected activity on your Patient Access account.”
This occurred while I was trying to access my own account. I was then unable to get into the account and was caught in a repeated technical loop.
This is a continuose problem now. You attempt to log in to your own account, you are blocked from accessing it, and the system continues to produce error messages rather than allowing you to proceed.
Initially, I repeatedly received a message saying I had been “logged out”. I am now receiving:
“Sorry, we weren't able to sign you in at this time.”
I contacted Patient Access Support and explained the problem, including that I am partially sighted and require reliable access to my medical records. On 30 June, I was advised that my account should be deleted so that I could re-register and set a new password.
The problem is still happening now.
Absolutely Useless
Absolutely useless - very poor user interface - seems to be a load of content available but all a waste of time and effort - why is this app allowed to exist - it needs a complete re-think, content isn’t everything, the app needs to function in a user friendly and intuitive way - stick to the NHS app !
Absolutely appalling
Absolutely appalling! I am shocked by how bad this is. I am technically literate, god knows how people who find technology difficult are supposed to use this. The so called two factor verification process crashes every time and no number or QR code is generated. So frustrating! All I want to do is order a repeat prescription. But no. It’s impossible. If this is an example of how competent the government and NHS are, then god help us. Get it sorted for pity’s sake!
Absolute shyte
Absolute shyte, but the morons who designed the app will do SFA about it
Unresolved login issues
I've been unable to login to see my medical records for a number of months due to the verification code not being received on the registered phone number. I keep reporting the issue but each time just get a scripted response asking me to check x,y,z. I don't even get a ticket reference number (just the text "Patient Ticket") so there is no historical audit trail of my issue. How am I supposed to trust these people with my medical information?
The Authenticator App is Rubbish
The reliability of the authenticator app seems to be governed more by the will of the Gods than the software. I am a computer literate individual and for some reason the smart phone app on both mine and my wife's smart phone has stopped working. No amount of resetting or reinstalling makes the slightest difference. The alternative NHS login does not work because it requires me to validate my Patient Access login with ..... you guessed it, an Authenticator Code that does not work! Sack whoever designed this diabolical system.
Its horrible
Its horrible, every 2nd month I get 'Sorry, we weren't able to sign you in at this time. Please check your sign in details and try again.'
The details are correct. The authentication has been forced upon me. Just want the process of getting my meds to be easier!!!
The worst online experience I've ever…
The worst online experience I've ever had. Ridiculously complicated, the hoops you are required to jump through simply beggar belief. No sooner set one password up and it asks you for another. Then you get sent a code. Eventually . Then it wants you to log in again. All I've ever wanted to do was order a repeat prescription. Why should that be SO hard to do? It's not like I'm trying to con anyone, even if I wanted to. There are times when I've gotten so frustrated I've wanted to throw my phone away.
Total rubbish
Total rubbish password and username never works you have to change password every time you try to sign in. Technical support is worse than useless even the date of birthdays calender needs thousands of presses to alter it, you are forced to use the date already set on it, why are these backward imbeciles using this useless Microsoft calendar app , why not allow users to simply input it through keyboard. Total rubbish made by amateurs!
It's a rubbish website
It's a rubbish website, never can login there's always a problem, I could do without the stress, it's bad for my health
Utter waste of time
Utter waste of time. I've moved to a house with no mobile reception so I am locked out and can't update anything. What sort of service gives you only one (unreliable) security check option? They obviously don't want to provide the service. After reading these reviews I will not bother to call them. These people live in cloud cookoo land!
Authenticaton not working
Google authenticaton for the two factor login process does not work on my android phone. On my windows 11 pc after i enter the authenticator id it throws up an error and you need to sign in for a second time.
The Patient Access app is not fit for purpose
The Patient Access app is, in my experience, unreliable and not fit for purpose. As a patient-facing application, it should provide a straightforward and dependable user experience; however, this has not been the case.
The user interface is neither intuitive nor sufficiently responsive. For example, when attempting to log in using my correct username and password, I repeatedly received an error message indicating that something was wrong. I then requested a password reset link to be sent to my email address, but no email was ever received. The app advises users to check their spam folder or request another link if the email does not arrive. I followed both recommendations, yet no reset email was received.
Another significant concern is the repeat prescription service. When submitting a repeat prescription request, there is no confirmation message or acknowledgement to reassure the patient that the request has been successfully received and is being processed.
I have not used the app's other functions and therefore cannot comment on them. However, based on my experience, the system appears to be poorly designed, inadequately tested, and lacking in basic functionality that users would reasonably expect from a healthcare application.
Given these issues, I cannot recommend this app and do not believe it merits a positive rating.
Almost impossible to register
Almost impossible to register, 2 of my elderly neighbours were in tears trying to get registered to this. If you are going to insist on them using a 3rd party authentication app you have to say which ones, they both downloaded spam advertising apps which cannot be deleted and may be stealing the money! I have never experienced such a labyrinthine mess of sign ins left right and centre, 20 something verification codes via text and email down load this scan this, utter nonsense, its almost as if you do NOT want people to be able to access this.
Dysfunctional Patient Access
I attempted to sign in to Patient Access but it temporarily locked me out of my account. I then used NHS log in to no avail.I am 82 years old and have health issues. I wanted to see my recent blood test results but I must wait in deep anxiety and frustration to acquire this vital information which is withheld by recalcitrant operatives totally devoid of empathy.
A very cumbersome and frustrating…
A very cumbersome and frustrating system. Really difficult to understand how something so important can be managed so poorly. Continue to be unable to login with a support system of little or no use
Codes are not accepted when entered.
The site has bee ruined
The sote has bee ruined. I used to use it regularly for repeat prescriptions, test reports etc. The new security layers make it almost impossible to get into. eg it didnt recognise my password (well used); to change my password, it then promised to send a verification code to my phone and didnt, the first time of trying. I finally got onto the app after 35 frustrating minutes.
A total waste of time that does not work
A total waste of time that does not work. It took ages to register and when I finally managed to do so on my partner's behalf it was impossible to book a simple blood test at his GP practise. I wonder how much money was wasted setting this up. My GP practise uses System On Line which works perfectly.
Used to be better than NHS app, not any more.
Used to show my test results and letters, its all blacked out now, have deleted it. It used to be far better than the NHS app, not any more.
