Penzeys Spices Avis 198

I really enjoy using the many spices I've stocked up within my spice cabinet. For a change-up, I grabbed the Penzeys Bicentennial Rub. This was the pepper & zest blend I was looking for. After marinating the ckn, rub, and light olive oil I placed the chicken on the Traeger. Grilled the chicken perfectly, but the rub was terrible. It was pasty, bland, and fell way short of what I could have created myself. Big thumbs down on Penzeys

About 2 years ago I discovered Penzeys, and ordered a variety of sample spices & blends, plus a bag of Ceylon cinnamon. That's when I started to receive rambling & hate-filled emails from the founder of this company. He hates Republicans, it's as simple as that. A spice company does not need to engage in politics, especially in such a manner as to alienate & be intolerant of an entire political party. He's also gone after other groups, such as the Catholic church. I have no use for his level of hatred.

I have had excellent tasting spices from this company. I think it is ironic how maga hat wearers get all bent out of shape because of his political views, then troll review sites like this after theyv'e been "called to arms" by conservative websites with the wild conspiracy theories, to create negative reviews. Go back to Walmart or where ever you buy your 99 cent cheap spice, and enjoy your lack of anything tasty.

Received 3 jars of bouillon, jars are only 1/2 full,expected more.

I've been buying from Penzeys for years and only go elsewhere when it is something they don't stock. Good quality, and they have lots of great deals so don't believe the garbage being spewed on here about being overpriced-I spend way less on spices from Penzeys than in the grocery store. I love how he pisses off the racists, too, and they are trying to wield the cancel culture (which they whine about all the time) to ruin the ratings on this site.

The owner is a hater and divisive. There are plenty of tolerant, decent places to get spices. Pass on this intolerant, judgemental, divisive hater.

Over priced, horrid attitude towards customers, to politically woke to be reasoned with, or too difficult to talk to (if your opinion doesn't match idealogically with theirs).

It's difficult enough to argue with an intelligent person....It's downright impossible to argue with a closed minded idiot.

Overpriced & NOT worth the money ! I also don’t like businesses that spread hate ! I have lots of republican friends and it was shameful how you portrayed them in your mailings.

Overpriced garbage. Will never buy from here again. Plenty of good spice providers around. No need to use this one.

Not sure if I got a bad batch but when I opened the bottle it just smelled like weird. I was afraid to use it so I tossed it out. Their prices are so high not sure I will be buying again not worth it.

The CEO is unprofessional and offensive. I cancelled my subscription. Do not support this company

I absolutely love this store. I placed an order for about $40 worth of spices about three weeks ago, having never tried them before. A couple days later it said my package had shipped, but I still didn't have it two weeks later. I checked tracking and it said it had been delivered to my mailbox. UPS said it was handed off to the post office so they didn't have track of it. I emailed Penzeys, and explained what had happened. They confirmed my address and said they would RESEND THE ENTIRE PACKAGE. I actually later found the original box in an older rubbermaid container on my porch, nowhere near my mailbox. So, customer service is stellar. I've only tried a couple of the spices so far, but, they have been delicious. I used Tsar Dust in some hamburgers, and, my gosh, best hamburgers I've ever had. I also used some of the Galena Rub on some chicken tenderloins before broiling; it was too spicy for my daughter, but I loved it. It was a great spicy-sweet flavor. I'm looking forward to trying the other spices.

Penzey's is a great spice company. I have been buying spices from them for ages now, and wish we had one of the retail stores in our area. It's true that it's not always popular to be political, but it's somewhat concerning that so much of what we consider "political" today would have been considered common sense in the past. The Republican Party (and the Democratic Party) has moved far to the right, so just being Moderate is now considered "radical left". Just look up Overton Window to see where the US stands in terms of right and left. It's sad that this company is getting bashed and accused of poor quality and customer service from people who just don't like the agenda (the ones who are actually complaining about the politics are welcome to do so as they are being honest). I also find it odd that they complain about prices when there are countless great offers. If you can wait, there is almost always a deal where you can get your preferred spice at a huge discount, including getting free normal-sized jars of any spice with any order. The quality is also always excellent: I particularly love Sunny Spain, all their paprikas, and Bouquet Garni.

I love Penzeys and their products. Despite what other reviewers have said, I have not found their products to be overpriced at all. It seems the majority of reviewers are complaining about Bill Penzeys political statements. Get over yourselves.

You've put politics before your customers and for that I hope you're boycotted and go out of business.
Your politics are shameful, disgusting and down right ignorant, you've lost a good customer that will never use your products ever again.

Beware, I order some spice and found disgusting mice poop mixed into my spice.

If I could rate 0 stars, I would. The CEO is a complete douchebag, the product is terrible and overpriced, and I have found bits of goat hooves in my spices on multiple, non-consecutive occasions.
