poor experience
poor experience, the L3 survey was scheduled & conducted promptly, but missed a major leak inside the property that was going on for years, and complaints manager deferred to weasel wording in the survey, where they never stated that there are no leaks, just that they have not found them
Effectively peace of mind that we got from a survey was a fake one and in reality it is just some wasted 3k£

As a first time buyer who needed a survey, I have to say that every person I emailed with (Finlay, Joanne) was really helpful, friendly and gave me lots of information. It was organised quickly and the report came through in a very reasonable time frame too (5 working days). It was detailed and you can see it was done diligently by someone experienced and thorough (Thanks to Shaun). It was reassuring to also have someone reply quickly and offer help at every stage. Surveyor was great, back office were rude
Surveyor was great.
The back office were rude and didn't reply to emails I spent too much time trying to chase them and wait for calls back.

I have listened to the calls between you and 4 members of our team. I did not find any occasions where any of our team were rude to you, and there was no indication of your discontent during these calls. We provided you with a quote within 3 hours of your initial enquiry, and you received confirmation of the date and time of your survey the day after you advised us you wished to go ahead.

Awful bullying service
I requested a breakdown of costs, as I was told the costs seemed unusually high. I wrote a polite letter requesting a breakdown of costs and was met with a patronising email and then a letter threatening court action if I didn't make immediate payment.
**Update** - the response below is quite revealing, containing more information than I received in any of letters for a breakdown of costs. I've since spoken to my surveyor, who agreed their invoice was excessive, being several hundred pounds more than the appointed surveyor. Shocking behaviour.

Our input to your project was acting for your neighbour as party wall surveyor, with our appointment being under statute. As part of the statutory process, we review your proposal drawings and the associated notice documentation. We attended our appointing owner’s property with your surveyor to record the condition. We liaised with your surveyor to discuss and agree the content of a party wall award. We took time to explain the proposals and the party wall process to our appointing owner as matters progressed. The fees due for the professional time input involved in dealing with party wall matters do need to be reasonable. The level of fee due is one of the aspects that was covered by our discussions with your appointed surveyor. The fee in this case is not excessive and reflects the input. As such, it was agreed by your appointed surveyor as being reasonable and included in the award co-signed by them.
Several letters and emails were sent to you, over many weeks regarding our outstanding invoice, as part of our usual credit control procedure.

I received a prompt response from the team at Peter Barry Surveyors in answer to my questions and concerns for Party Wall Awards. Initially I spoke with Trina, who was very helpful and knowledgeable in answer to my questions and arranging a visit to my property. A site visit was arranged for Katie to carry out the survey, Katie explained the process and gave detailed answers to my questions. soon after this I received the survey report and the party wall award.
