PT Academy was founded in 2009 based upon our perception of what we believed the industry needed at the time. We introduced a nationwide "mentor" based system where learners would be taught and mentored by active personal trainers and fitness professionals. 10 years on and having partnered with several health club chains - Personal Trainer Academy is now the largest and fastest growing fitness education company in the UK. Recognised as the UK's leading fitness and personal training course providers, we have the largest number of assessment centres and venues than any other UK training provider. We are the first education company to use active trainers as mentors, assessors and tutors of our courses. We are committed to raising standards throughout the health and fitness industry by innovating learning methods, competitive prices and high quality graduates. Our innovative approach led to a prestigious award earlier this year from the Institute of Directors - an independent organisation with a royal chart PT Academy was, and still is, the only fitness education company to use active personal trainers as part of its expert delivery team. From the beginning, our philosophy has always been that our students learn best from qualified personal trainers. Personal trainers know exactly what it takes to grow a successful personal training business as they’ve done it themselves. This firm belief has resulted in the development of our flagship learning method, the Flexi-Learner programme, where students are assigned an active personal trainer in their local region who guides them through their Level 2 and 3 personal trainer qualifications. The success of the Flexi-Learner method has meant that in just a few years our team has expanded. We now have over 200 active trainers across the UK and the highest number of assessment centres, making PT Academy the largest fitness education provider in the UK. PT Academy is committed to giving people of all backgrounds the opportunity to become a qualified personal trainer through our competitive pricing and innovative learning methods. In doing this we’re producing high-quality graduates for the health and fitness industry. Our qualifications are OFQUAL regulated and certificated by NCFE, Focus Awards, 1st4Sport and VTCT awarding organisations. This ensures full recognition from employers, the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and CIMSPA.

PT LEVEL 2 /3
I had a fantastic experience studying with PT Academy and I honestly can’t thank my tutor Rian enough. The level of support I received throughout my course was immense. Rian really took the time to explain things properly, answer my questions and make sure I understood the work rather than just rushing through it.
His patience, encouragement and support made such a difference to my learning experience. I always felt supported and able to ask for help whenever I needed it. It’s clear that Rian genuinely cares about his students and wants them all to succeed.
I’m so grateful for all the time and effort he put into supporting me throughout my journey. I would definitely recommend PT Academy especially if you’re looking for a course where you feel genuinely supported along the way!

Very disappointing communication with…
Very disappointing communication with existing students
I’m extremely disappointed with the level of communication from PT Academy.
I have already paid for my course and I am now actively trying to return to my studies, complete my outstanding work and assessments, and obtain my qualification. I have emailed PT Academy asking a straightforward question about my existing course access and what I need to do to continue, but I have received no response.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that when I contacted David directly, he responded almost immediately and was helpful. So my issue is not with the tutors themselves — it is with the lack of response from PT Academy’s main customer/student support.
As an existing student who has already paid for the course, I don’t think I should have to chase repeatedly just to find out how I can continue and complete my qualification.
I’m ready and motivated to finish my course. I simply need PT Academy to actually respond and tell me what I need to do.
I will happily update this review if the situation is resolved and I receive the support I need.

My Mentor is Ace, PT Academy is ok
Firstly, with regards to my mentor, Ryan, I would give 5 stars. He is always on hand to give me extra advice or pointers if I need them. He is clear and concise about what the course needs from me to achieve my qualification, and has given me resources for further study if I feel I have not understood or not been able to absorb anything.
PT academy are largely good if you are a neurotypical student looking to do an online course. As someone currently going through AuDHD diagnoses, I believe that they could do better. Often there is reams of text, the videos are often just powerpoints with AI voices, there are multiple grammatical and spelling errors throughout, and mismatched text-to-voice errors, which is overwhelming and confusing. They no longer have a manual for study that can be printed off or a hard copy to be ordered, so going back through information is again overwhelming and unhelpful. They expect my mentor to take that responsibility, which I feel is unfair.
Ryan is brilliant. PT Academy could do better for SEN students.

Outstanding experience on the funded L3 PT Diploma
Completed my Level 3 PT diploma with PT Academy via the funded London scheme in January 2026. This was an amazing opportunity and a really outstanding experience. The course delivery was slick and both online and in-person teaching was really high quality. The admin team were very efficient and responsive, and certificates were issued from the awarding body very promptly once the course finished (within 2 weeks).
The instructors were top quality - Sofia delivered excellent in person teaching on the gym floor and David's online sessions were really outstanding. As a tutor David is super knowledgeable and really goes the extra mile to help students succeed, not only teaching the core curriculum but also sharing his years of invaluable fitness-industry expertise, to ensure students are set up for business success when they graduate.
Having completed this course 6 months ago, I'm pleased to say I now run my own successful PT business in London - which has frankly completely transformed my life. To put it simply, without this funded course I would still be living on benefits; more places on these funded courses will change more lives for the better!

I chose PT Academy mainly because the…
I chose PT Academy mainly because the course was workbook based and gave me the flexibility to complete it in my own time. This worked really well for me as I didnt have to attend weekly lessons and could fit the course around work and everything else going on in my life.
I found the course and workbooks easy to follow and they gave me everything I needed to work through the qualification successfully. A massive positive for me was my tutor Chris. He completely understood what I wanted to get out of the course and was always really helpful and supportive. If I had a question I could contact him easily and he always came back with useful answers and helped point me in the right direction.
The only thing I think could be improved is communication from PT Academy itself. At times I felt there wasnt loads of information given and without my tutor I probably would have been unsure about what was happening or what I needed to do next. A little more communication and information throughout the course would have made the experience even better.
Overall though I have had a really positive experience. The flexibility of the course suited me perfectly, I have achieved what I wanted from it and I would definitely recommend PT Academy to someone looking to complete their PT qualification around an already busy life.
