In April I ordered an alstromerium from RHS.
It arrived as an incredibly small plant , so much so that I posted a review which was really in the form of a complaint .
RHS duly posted the review .
As the plant is now the pride of the particular border it’s planted in , I thought it only fair that I should correct that review as its now a beautiful , healthy plant.

Awful service. They renewed my membership without any warning. Took two payments of £69.99 from my bank today! I phoned them to complain and they said they sent a letter out in June advising of renewal in September but I've not had any letter!! I think it's a scam. They stay quiet hoping you will just forget the renewal. They have my email address so why waste money sending a letter (allegedly!). Email is free but oh no, that would give us an easy way to cancel membership wouldn't it? This is very bad practice by a charity. Now I have to wait 28 days for a refund and they don't know why I was charged twice! I have to email them to ask them to cancel and explain why as they can't cancel by phone it seems! It's very poor service. Horrible charity!

I purchased a Lonicera periclymenum Graham Thomas in 3L pot which was delivered promptly and in excellent condition. I had already purchased the same plant, same size pot from another supplier and had been disappointed by the health of the plant on arrival. The RHS honeysuckle was at least a foot taller and had more foliage for around the same price. I would order plants again from the RHS online shop.

Pity I had to rate a 1 star, the restaurant is a side opening marquee no cloths on tables and at £70 a head the afternoon tea was a disgrace, a far cry from the glossy image it portrays . Staggered that RHS can be associated with a Co that charges so much for so little.

I visited Wisley Gardens 2 weeks ago and I went to their Garden centre to find a Poeny for my cousin's 70th birthday. Speaking to Jim one of the gardeners in the Wisley Garden Centre, he was able to give me some very helpful and professional advice. I bought a really exquisite, healthy and quite large Duchesse De Nemours Peony which Jim had also pointed out on a display card, that it was also a winner of an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society. My cousin was over the moon when she saw it. So delighted! Thank you Jim and to such appreciated advice 11/10
I don't think I've ever been this disappointed with an Event in this Country. Last time I checked, this is ENGLAND!! The country that takes pride in it's gardens and flowers. I had never been to an RHS event before, so when I was offered the invite to go this year at Sandringham estate, I was very excited. I thought, this should be the Echelon of English gardening. We have all enjoyed gardeners world at some point, watching highlights of the RHS shows, watching in awe and being inspired by the colours and displays they have to offer.... Terrible layout, sloppy, expensive, lack of shade. What would it have taken to add parasols to the tables in the open seated food area??
I enjoy photography, so natural I had my camera on me, ready to get trigger happy to record the amazing beautiful displays...NOTHING. I took 2 pictures!!! I looked across the event from the top and literally all you see were all these white tents for all the stalls...Where was the colours? I thought summer were the vibrant colours, bright pinks, oranges, reds..!! My backyard is more vibrant than what I saw. The competition gardens were in between the stalls which impacted the flow of traffic along the cheap looking, rather dangerous metal pathway, maybe something a bit more organic, natural looking may have been a bit more fitting. I've seen more awe inspiring flowerbeds at grassroot festivals. NOTHING "Royal" about the "RHS".
What an embarrassment. Never again.
Went to RHS Sandringham yesterday and quite a good day out.
It was more like an expensive shopping day in a garden centre, and we bought lots of stuff for the garden.
Bought a lovely bottle of Cornish Whiskey too.
The thing that I will always remember was the £120 I paid for afternoon tea for two.
If it was £20 each it would have been barely acceptable but £60 was a joke.
If I go again will take a cream cheese and cucumber sandwich and sausage roll with a flask of tea and save my cash.
Do not go to Sandrngham.queued for 3 miles, stalls running out even before lunch. Limited seating. £6.95 for a sausage roll. Lease everyone book a local show for less money , forget the pompous RHS who are riding on the coat tails of a highwayman. I will not be renewing my membership.
If you like tractors, cows and gypsies leaving horse crap everywhere, then this is a must!
Ordered a clematis for a shadey dappled sun position. It's the first time I have purchased a plant directly from the RHS and I am very pleased with my purchase. For a few pennies more I had prompt delivery and a quality plant that's thriving very well.
A brilliant day out. Fantastically organised. So much to see. Wonderful inspirational gardens. Staff all delightful. highly recommend.
Booking of RHS show tickets used to be straightforward, but now they have transferred to using AXS it's become clunky and frustrating. I have tried on numerous occasions to book afternoon tea for one of the shows only to be met with a constant wheel of doom. I don't know if that is due to the ticket system or lack of availability. In addition why when a show such as Badminton is in the middle nowhere do you get an option to print off a ticket for entry, but not for parking which relies on a QR code. Also why do I have to log in EVERY time I open AXS. Annoying doesn't come close. The RHS have sold themselves short here by outsourcing to AXS.
Booking tickets was a nightmare. Entering my membership number the website directed me to public tickets available for Thursday onwards. A second attempt reached the Wednesday tickets. I ordered and was directed to AXS website where I needed to create an account. I created a password according to the instructions. Four times AXS claimed that password was invalid. At one point my entry seemed to have been accepted with on screen instruction to close that screen at which point everything was lost so I had to start again. This time a newly created password was accepted. I proceeded through to payment but the AXS website rejected the bank verification and cancelled my ticket order. I started the whole process again and successfully passed right through the maze. I ignored the totally confusing parking choices and assumed “Accessible Parking” without the unavailable e-ticket would suffice.
Delayed by traffic I arrived at the traffic queue at 9.53 and reached the car park at 10.47 realising that all different signposted routes converged on one single track entrance.
Showground map had no “you are here” locator and nearby help girls were too busy chatting to offer help.
The Plant Pavilion top class as usual with super nursery plantspeople and four Show Gardens were excellent. The horticultural exhibitors made it good for looking and choosing. Food and drink at extortionate prices.
Overall, a good show once one is there though too expensive for what is offered. Clearly the RHS need to study customer focus and grasp that they are accountable to their members. Wisley, Rosemoor, Malvern work but Badminton was badly planned. RHS don’t even bother to respond to Trustpilot reviews.
Lack of guidance and information on app for the Badminton show . Very long ques to get in. Road into the venue was basically a rough farm track. Lack of organization in car park just a huge field lack of guidance to grounds.
No shuttle bus long hike into the venue. You need to be reasonably fit to manage this expedition!
Lack of public seating and adequate shading ,bun fight to find seats in shade. Expensive food and drink. One scoop of ice cream is 6 pounds and Six pounds fifty.!
Lack of clear signage as to where things are in the show . Some rough walking areas to contend with Stoney ground .
The show gardens are mainly tiny that we saw.
Some nice nursery displays selling plants and floral marquee had some interesting plants for sale . People on these stands were helpful and could give good advice on plant care .Gets very hot as day goes on in there . We were unable to book any celebrity theatres not available on website . Didn’t see any well known gardeners around .
Some nice sculpture stands and metal work with things for the garden .on display.
You really need to take food and cold drinks or you will be fleeced and have ti stand in ques in blazing heat .
Hats and umbrellas as sun shades are a must a collapsible stool or chair very useful if you can carry it in a trug.
Only seating in public places are picnic tables uncomfortable to sit on if you’re lucky enough to find one .
A lot if wi fi problems so paying on phones and cards can be problematic take cash if you want to buy things.
Didn’t see any for sale anywhere .
I love plants and garden shows in general . I do feel this one was badly organized and thrown together last minute . Queuing for hours to get in takes up precious show time and they really need to address that . We made the best of it . Print a map off of the show ground or photograph one inside entrance to use as a guide .
Take plenty of water, sun cream , umbrella l managed in good walking sandals . You’ll struggle in thin flip flops as ground is stony and rough in a lot of areas some walkways have been put down . Inside the show ground .
I wouldn’t visit this showground again unless RHS put a lot more thought into it in the future . Malvern way better and other venues .
Good luck!!🍀
I attended the Badminton Flower Show on the 8th July. Three big concerns that the RHS seemed unwilling to hear when I rang this morning 1)The AXS booking process was not intuitive & I had to complete the bookings for several elderly neighbours. Information was sent out late ie midday on the day when I was already at the show 2) Nobody had checked the wifi signal at Badminton so the RHS insisted brochures were bought by card - yet the machines were not functioning. 3) there was no one available at Badminton to speak to customers.
But my biggest health & safety concern was that one had to buy a brochure to find out where the water fountains were - on a day when the temperature was at 31 degrees.
Specific to the cafe - service is appalling. I ordered a simple garlic flatbread and half an hour later was still waiting. Staff walked past several times and it was very clear they had forgotten the order so I got a refund and went without lunch. Absolute bunch of amateurs.
Had a quick lunch at the Harrogate Arms in Harlow Carr. Queue terrible and don't bother with the sausage rolls. A pathetic thin strip of mediocre meat. They could have been so much better!
RHS is a poorly managed organisation, they exploite their customers and do not respect customers' rights when a complaint is made.
We booked a dining ticket through the RHS website for the flower show. When we arrived there, we were denied access to the dinning. We had to pay an entrance fee to access the dinning. It was a scam!!!!!!
Just purchased a rose online and it's been sent out with back spot. Can't believe such a low standard from the RHS.
