Roger Black Fitness Avis 

I am a male OAP in my late sixties, who bought this exercise bike to lose some weight and gain fitness. The past 18 months of Covid lockdowns had discouraged me from going out and the local gym, where I did aqua classes, was closed much of that time.

I ordered this item on 2nd August. A delivery was attempted on 4th, but I was given no prior notice of it other than an email on the day it was coming. The website promised a 2-hour delivery window, but the email stated that delivery would be at any time between 8 am & 6 pm. Delivery was rearranged and was successful on 14th August (forewarned, I left printed instructions on the gate for DX-Express on where to leave the item).

Having carried the box up to my 1st floor flat (the box weighed 20Kgs & awkwardly shaped), I attempted to build the exercise bike using the instruction booklet provided. Unfortunately, this proved very difficult as several parts were different from that shown in the instructions and the terms of the warranty stated that it did not apply if the device was not put together according to the instructions, but also that the manufacturers were entitled to change the design without notice.

Being uncertain, I contacted the company by email and received advice to help me build the bike over the week to 19th Aug. Over that period I was advised that there was actually an error in the instructions because the design had changed, but the instruction booklet had not.

I was also informed (on the Wednesday) that there was a instruction video on how to put the bike together by Roger Black, but this was on UTube platform, not on the Roger Black website, this was a very rapid guide which was difficult to follow despite frequent stopping and starting. On Thursday (3 days after I had received the bike), they advised me of an excellent video by Gym Tech Review on UTube, which walks you through building the bike step by step with advice on how to deal with the trickier stages and which parts are different from those shown on the instructions.

Over the days since I received the bike I exchanged emails with BRF customer services, who answered my questions as well as they could. With Roger Black himself being away, a full response to my several questions was delayed whilst the customer service staff obtained answers.

It seems a great pity that the instruction leaflet is out of date (RBF promise to update it and put this on their website) and the 1-year warranty is so worded that if the instructions are not followed precisely that the warranty would not apply, even if the instructions were not up-to-date.
Also, why were the 2 videos not on the RBF website (or at least a link to them provided)? It is possible that a techy customer could find the utube videos on the internet unaided, but the company should not expect that of their customers (in UK 22% of adults have no computer skills and 9% have no access to a laptop computer). I have the simple IT skills to order the bike online, but the bike used to be available solely through Argos, where the only skill needed was to be able to copy a number on a piece of paper (or get someone to do it).

The product is really good & easy to use; please RBF, make it easier for your customers to receive it and put it together correctly.

As I took the wrapping off the main frame the top piece fell off as one of the clips was missing. The instructions for the monitor meant I had a part missing so I called your support number and left a message with my number but am still waiting for an answer.The wiring and connection for the monitor were different to the instructions.

Ordered easily on internet - very quick delivery of bike but not suitable so Roger swapped it for the cross trainer which Roger delivered himself and took back the bike. It could not have been easier and more helpful so glad I ordered from his website rather than Amazon.
Trainer took time to put together but my husband managed it by himself.

Selected this folding bike because it fitted my criteria: suitable for shorter people, comfortable seat, reasonable range of silent magnetic resistance, good flywheel weight and simple to fold and store. Prior to buying I emailed the helpline for advice and got prompt and courteous responses. The bike was delivered quickly, was easy to assemble - all excellent.

I recently bought the Cross Trainer to replace an ancient non-working Nordic Trak Exerskier. I am really pleased with the Cross Trainer. It was easy to assemble on my own at age 77 and already I can feel the benefits of a regular workout, and so can my wife who also uses it regularly. It is amazing value for money and is solidly made. Very stable in use.

Great to have a fold up bike. Difficult to put the pin through to lock it though - there appears to be something in the way. ? one of the wires?

I'm 81 and pedal away quit happily. My husband is 85 fit and healthy - walks miles a day) but finds the saddle very hard so has given up. He's going to experiment with a cushion!

After damaging my quads and not being able to walk very far while, whilst healing and also having back problems, I found the Roger Black exercise bike was perfect for non lead bearing exercise which is helping me back to the best I can be at 77. Brilliant!! Very stable and well made. Would totally recommend.

The easiest flat pack assembly I have had to do although the wiring connection was slightly confusing. I congratulate the designers on attaching the nuts and bolts in position which meant I did not have to make the correct decision on what went where. The assembly and usage instructions were excellent. Sturdy construction with quality materials.

Great product build. Excellent customer service. I had a question before purchasing and received a personal video from Roger. I also had another question which was again answered via a personal video from Roger. I would highly recommend Roger Black Foldable Treadmill.
