Root & Pestle Kava Avis 

Easy to order and not a long wait in delivery.

I ordered a 100g pack of Borogoru Instant Kava Powder from Root & Pestle. Following the instructions, I used scales to weigh 15 grams of powder and mixed with water. 2 hours after drinking I still hadn't experienced any effects. I avoided using hot/boiling water so as not to destroy the kavalactones, waited over 2 hours after eating before taking the dose, and I weigh 80kg so I don't think my body weight is an issue. They did provide me with a Certificate of Analysis upon request, which showed extracted kavalactones at 6.6%, so I don't think they scammed me. However, as I didn't feel its effects, I'm afraid I can't recommend this product.

Great alternative to alcohol. Unsure on long term health consequences however I doubt it could be worse than alcohol.

Definitely give it a go if you are looking to switch alcohol out for something else.

I’ve been buying your instant Silesse for several months now but it’s been out of stock for a while so I thought I’d try the traditional kit. After several attempts at making it -eventually with double quantities - and otherwise strictly following the instructions (which are simple), I’m giving up on it as it has had no effect. Disappointing…

Much stronger than others first type I feel a good solid effect after Coles and another mob. Instant Borogoru. Mellow and a bit sleepy.

This was my first time trying kava and I’m happy to say the product lived up to the claims.
The kava provides a relaxing and calming experience that sufferers from anxiety to sleep disorders may benefit from or for anyone just looking to unwind at the end of the day.

Service was excellent.
The Vanuatu kava was fine, as was the instant kava powder from Vanuatu.
Instant was pleasantly strong in effects.
However, I found that kavalactones didn't suit me after a week or so. I felt nauseous (liver-ish), and this only stopped 2 or 3 days after cessation.
But I'm glad I tried it.

The kava was good quality, had a fresh taste which has a more 'nutty' flavour profile than other Borogoru variety grinds that I've had.

Good quality Kava with various strains. It was hard to choose because I want to try them all. I settled on Nakamal Nights and Mavun. I won't go into it too much because it is a personal choice, and I am happy with what I received. This review is based on my first purchase and will definitely be getting more. We received the product this week and both my husband and I believe we have been poisoned by the powder. We have both been close to presenting to ED with the side effects. Extreme headaches which last for more than a day affective as soon as the 45-minute-high finishes. No amount of paracetamol or ibuprofen worked to get rid of the headaches. Body aches, nausea, brain fog, lethargy lasting the entire day after, unable to get to sleep then fitful waking and nightmares. It literally felt like we had ingested poison. It was horrific. We have only used the instant powder and I would rather throw it in the bin than give it to anyone. I wouldn’t wish the effects on my worst enemy. The hang over is worse than drinking half a bottle of vodka. We took the prescribed amount on the packet and my husband is 35 kgs heavier than me and still had the same horrific side effects. It literally felt like we had been poisoned.

I wonder how well the process of making the instant powder is regulated and how easy it is for contamination to happen? I am tempted to send this packet away to be lab tested to see what's actually in it. Something is definitely not right.

Please, anyone buying this product beware of the risk of adverse side effects. Two days later and we are still recovering.
