Scotts Lawn and Garden Products Avis 

I purchased a 5,000 square foot bag of lawn food. They sent me a 4,000 square foot bag (did they not think I’d notice?!) and then, they wanted $10 for me to return it. Seriously? Is this real life? I am livid.

i never used scotts lawn producte this time i did and foud that it was a great improvement in the appearence of the grass and the health of the lawn

I have been using Scotts fertilizers for many years and have had great success. This year I encountered lots of white clover on my lawn, so purchased Scott's Weed be gone, followed the instructions completely, yes it will kill a dandelion, but they are also very easy to remove, it will not kill white clover, It was a complete waist of time and money !!!!!!

They don't sell dirt or soil anymore. I got a bag of mulch, clay chunks and a ton of little rocks with some sort of soft mossy like filler. I can't even get seeds to germinate in it. And when they do manage to sprout that's all that ever happens. A sprout that eventually dies. Forget the cost of the cheap bag of mulch and rocks and clay, I want the cost of all my heirloom seeds.

I used Scott's products EXCLUSIVELY for the past 40 years. For a lot of that time, I was caring for three lawns- mine and 2) In-Laws.
After following their directions like a CRAZY MAN, I've encountered poor to no germination, fertilizer burning, giant clumps & softball size clots in their FRESH bags, as well as zero-performing specialty products like "Clover Killer" that increased my clover. Most recently, the clots in the fertilizer bags have become flat CHIPS of rock hard fertilizer, that JAM the broadcast spreader slide OPEN, with ZERO means of shutting it off. My front & rear grass has severe BURNS from the constant flow until I could dash to the concrete patio, or the driveway. I then had to DUMP the hopper in order to remove these chips with needle-nose pliers.
When I encountered these issues, I used the "NO QUIBBLE" guarantee. It did me little good when I had a bumper crop of yellow dandelions, or large areas of burned out grass.
Last year, I submitted a claim for another FAILED product. What I got back was a refund, but they have REVOKED the NO quibble part. They told me before I buy ANY MORE of their products, I was to CONTACT THEM IN ADVANCE. That annoyed me to the point where I'm changing directions, and will be moving on from the BAD products, as well as the LIE about NO QUIBBLE. SCOTTS IS THE WORST!!

So disappointed in Scott's mulch! I've been using the product for years. I purchased fifty bags from Home Depot and was so disappointed (and surprised) to find that the bags were 1.5 cubic feet instead of the 3 cubic feet I used to receive. The price was the same as the 3 cubic feet. The delivery fee is the same regardless of whether you purchase 50 bags or 100. Now I realize that I have half of what I need, but I'll have to pay an additional deliver fee. This is the last year that I will purchase their product.

I used step one, it was so wet that it gummed up my spreader and could not put down half of the bag. I have used the product before with no problem. I had to throw out half of the bag. Please reply to solve my problem.

They sell turf builder in yellow bags with a giant picture of st. augustine grass on the front. At the bottom, back part of the bag it says, "don't use on st. augustine" in extremely fine print. Ruined my yard. Will never use their products again.

The “No-quibble Money Back Guarantee” is phony. I bought two bags of MossEX on Amazon. I applied it as directed using the heavy rate to make sure the moss was killed. Waited 4 weeks, moss was still green, 6 weeks still green, 8 weeks still green and growing stronger than ever. It did not work. I went to your web site and went thru your money back AI Chat and entered all the information and attached the sales receipt (case # 57624993”). I was told that you would email a response, after a week, and no email I called tried again asked for a rep on the chat, and was told that it had been rejected because at Amazon it was filled by a “non authorized Vendor” The guarantee is for the product not the vendor. What happened to the “No Quibble Money Back Guarantee”? IT IS PHONY

After buying bags and bags of grass seed I swore off Scott's. Well stupid me bought 6 bags of black mulch because it's "the best". After two weeks the black mulch is brown. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SCOTTS PRODUCT AS LONG AS I LIVE. OVER PRICED AND VERY POOR QUALITY. IT'S A SCAM.

What a waste of time and money. This seed did not even germinate and I adhered to the instructions strictly.
Went to Woolworths and purchased Brunnings grass seed
A 3rd of the price and germinated in 5 days.
This is the second time I have purchased Scott grass seed with same negative result, only gave it another try because thought I may have done something incorrect, not so, because the Brunnings has no problem. learnt my lesson.

Just frustrated and disappointed. Ivebeen using Scott's for about 40 years, professionally and personally. Recent years just realized how Scott's has changed dramatically. Extreme rise in cost and smaller coverage in each size bag. The real disappointment is that you're paying more money for less coverage and the product you get is crap. Last three times I bought the product, it was unusable because of being contaminated with moisture. Couldn't return. Next time I'll buy Lesco.

i think your wrong , i have over 13 000 of square feet of land with my house on it and pool there is left 6000 +++ i read the instructions and it said with the sreader i was using to put it at 13.5 which is what i did , if you are right then 100 % of my lawn would have been burnt , the front is perfect and i used the second bag but at around 4 or 5 if i remember correctly and the back is where you got all the pictures where i would say about 50 % the lawn has huge yellow patches .

so please i would like to be compensated with enough money or gift card for semance and earth , my grass was perfect , i pluck out one by one bad grass ect.... and i personally invest alot , i have switched to scotts from botanix in 2024 , and i realized right away your quality of semance is inferior and i am disappointed , the grass that grows some looks like hay so i have to spend much more time taking out bad grass ( i have groupe vertdure that i have a contract with $450 a year ) + what i spend which is at least $500 in a season for semance and earth ect..

i hope i dont have to go on google and show pics and re iterate how dissapoited i am , $90 - $100 wont cut it i already bought a semance bag which cost $100 with tax from ccanadian tire , i have not bought any earth yet , i used the eart that i had .

One star is too many. I have never written a bad review, but I had to speak up for this wrong doing. I had a BEAUTIFUL lawn in my front yard and backyard for 30 years until I used the Scotts Turf Builder “weed and feed”.
It COMPLETELY DIED because of it!!
Just so frustrating and discouraging when I take such pride in my lawn and yard! I had it professionally aerated and seeded with topsoil two months after it died from the Scott’s Turf Builder “weed and feed”, but nothing came up. It was still Poisoned from the Scott’s weed and feed. I have had no lawn now for four months. Do not buy this terrible product!!

I bought Scott’s Lawnsoil at a premium price. I got brown mulch! Tried to show a picture but this site doesn’t seem to have the option.

Finally broke down and bought some black mulch for the first time ever! And I sure was surprised, so I was potting strawberries plants and used the Scotts mulch on top of course, And within a dozen handfuls, I already discovered or pulled TWO pieces of plastic out!!!! What a bummer!!!! What else could be hiding inside? Very disappointed, I don't want to eat or consume plastic residues for years to come!!!!! First and last buy!!!!!!!!!!!

Just purchased a 10 pound bag of Scotts EZ seed on sale over the internet and picked up from a locker outside the Wallkill, New York location. At best the seed germination would be 80% if the seed was used the same year as the seed test date. Big box stores like Home Depot and Lowe's are working with Scotts to extend the seeds life by putting stickers over the original seed test date. This extends the seed life, but seed germination life drops substantially after one year. Most purchasers don't realize that they are paying for seed that shouldn't be on the store shelves. At one time I managed a successful lawn and tree service. We purchased seed by the ton and only purchased seed that had current testing. Buyer beware!

I bought 2 small bags of Scott bermuda seed and one bag of Scott's starter fertilizer. I also bought a few bags of Garden Soil. I raked it in ensuring it was not too much soil, just enough, and watered it 2 X day for a couple weeks at Texas temps near 80. Then I watered it 1 X for a couple weeks. NOT ONE blade of grass has sprouted. Your product is a waste of money--defective.

While others offer better products at lower prices, i have used Scotts for decades. I attempted to use a 15% promo code with an annual package, but the software wouldn't allow it, so I contacted customer service to clarify -only to finally receive a response 4 days later!!! They said that, since the promo expired 4 days later, it was no longer valid!!! After I stated i would quit Scotts after 5 decades of use and trash them on all websites, they responded with an offer to purchase the package at full price and they would return the difference to my card. So I did. Then I received another email saying that after further review, i would have to pay full price!!! So, I attempted to cancel the order, but their own software could not find the order using their own order number!!! Good products, but idiots running their online department! NEVER buy online from them! Im done with Scotts!!!
