Scotts Lawn and Garden Products Avis 

I just had seven guys with leaf blowers in my back yard. One of them got on my porch and was looking in my window. Then proceeded to blow my mum plants around completely destroying them. Blew my welcome mat and chair around leaving leaves on my chair. Blew a bunch of dust under my door and into my home. Did not put anything back in it's place and left. Highly disrespectful of others property. Do not recommend.

I give it a zero. I bought a bag full of nut grass and some other crap I have never seen in my life. It's got more weeds than grass. NEVER AGAIN!

Probably the worst product I have used for my lawn. I purchased the entire 4 step system and applied it per the instructions and within days my entire lawn was ruined and burned. They will counter and say it was misapplied however unused the scott applicator. This stuff is crap go elsewhere

Against my better judgement I purchased the Scotts Halts fertilizer again for crabgrass this year after having poor results over many years. This is the worst i have ever seen my lawn. It is loaded with crabgrass. What a ripoff. It should be taken off the market. NEVER AGAIN. This product seems to feed the weeds, not prevent them. Don't buy. Waste of money.

Corporate thieves and environmental vandals.
My Scott’s fertiliser spreader will no longer work as a wheel has fallen off and appears to be unrepairable.
The failure has occurred because Scott’s have used untreated very thin mild steel to make the drive mechanism. Scott’s should know that untreated mild steel and very corrosive fertiliser do not work well together.
As a loyal fan of Scott’s products for more than 40 years I now realise that Scott’s have joined those corporates who use very poor unsuitable material where it can’t be seen. It makes me wonder what poisonous materials they mix with their garden products!

I bought this product ( Scotts® Turf Builder® Weed & Feed₅) to weed and feed my lawn and it is totally garbage. I followed the instructions for the application very carefully ( when to apply it, how to apply it and how to water it ). It did absolutely nothing except that it produced more weeds and the orange pellets are still visible. Avoid at all cost !!!

Scott's Bonus S product killed my beautiful St Augustine lawn in the spring of 2023. The Scott's representative told me that the formula had been changed and failed, resulting in dead lawns in some southern states.

She offered repayment of the cost of the product itself and immediately sent me a check for $75.

This spring I posted a bad review of their product, warning others that the once healthy and beautiful St Augustine grass covering my yard, died after using their product and that the yard was now nothing but weeds!

Upon seeing the bad review, Scott's contacted me, offering me $300 for damages and asked that I sign a confidentiality agreement.

I asked for replacement cost of my sod instead. They asked that I secure two sod estimates and provide them with photos. I did so. Upon receiving the requested information, they contacted me again, saying they were prepared to pay only $300 as previously offered, based on the information they received. The photos I provided to them were time-stamped and clearly documented the damage to my lawn caused by their product. The estimates were provided by reputable suppliers of sod and included the cost of the sod itself with no allowance for labor.

I refused their $300 offer and was advised that the case would be turned over to their "insurance company", Sedgwick, which as it turns out, is a third party administrator, representing companies such as Target, AT&T and, I think, Walmart.

Sedgwick just notified me that the claim was denied and, get this, Scott's has now also denied any admission of fault, stating that there is nothing wrong with the product. This is contradictory to the information that they volunteered to me in our earlier conversations.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with Scott's? If so, please begin spreading the word, offering reviews at every given opportunity. People need to know that a company we've looked to for years as the answer to our lawn and gardening needs, can no longer be trusted.

not good they keep mixing the seed with some cheap crap then when it gets sunburn it doesnt grow back even when watered properly for those conditions. the products they make are weak and the directions are very vague the weed and feed says as per the safety it could only be used legally a few times a year but i have to use this thing every 6 weeks for it to be effective so it sucks their products are very weak no good I have been using this for 8 years i will now abandon this product.

I set up an on-line annual account with Scotts.com and then called to confirm. Was confirmed order went through and said they would begin sending me the products in September. Called today 9/13 to see when they will be shipping my Fall application and I was told my account was cancelled with no explanation as to why. When I spoke to a customer service manager I got no help. I will never buy a Scotts product again.

1. Seven boxes each weighing 40-50 lbs arrived last week instead of 2bags for the Fall Application.
2. After some back and forth and 2 sets of return labels I was told UPS would pick them up.
3. I threw out my back which had been fused surgically dragging the boxes under cover to keep them dry.
4. UPS never showed up and said no pick up had been scheduled. They told me I had to take the 7 boxes to one of their stores.
5. I threw my back out a 2nd time lifting the boxes in and out of my car.
6. The only response from Scotts was asking me what more they could do for me. I think they meant TO me.
Pathetic customer service.

I’ve had a lawn care company for 16 years. Thought I’d save time and get grass seed at Costco since I was there. Worst seed I’ve ever tried and I’ve used a few. Contacted customer service and they don’t stand behind their product. Bottom line garbage product and garbage customer service. If you want results use what the sod farmers and seed farmers use. DLF PICKSEED TURF is by far a better product. 10 times better quality. I’ll never use any Scott’s products again in my lifetime

Horrible customer service experience happening right now that's been going on for almost 4 months. Grass seed didn't respond the way it said it would following all directions. Took them up on their "No Quibble" guarantee. What a nightmare. After suggesting I did something wrong, they went a ahead and sent out a check after receiving all my receipts. That was in April. My check evidently got lost in the mail. After telling me they have to wait 30 days to make sure the check wasn't cashed, when 30 days was up they said now they have to wait for confirmation of the voided check which will take 2 more weeks. Then they said they would send it out after that. I don't trust that I will get the check in the mail and asked if they can send it electronically and they obliged. I just wish they would've done that in the first place...

I have followed a Scott's recommendation lawn program for several years and am reasonably pleased with the results. What I am not pleased with is almost every time I buy their product from a big box store (orange as well as blue) the product is damp and does not spread at the stipulated setting. I have tried drying it in a dehumidified space but it will not dry out. It has gotten so bad that from now on I plan to go to a small feed & grain store near me that sells a semi-generic brand of lawn products.

We purchased a broadcast spreader that did not function properly. They have a no quibble guarantee-for real! It was very easy to get a refund on our purchase. Very happy with our experience.

I have been a Scotts product user for over 30 years, but no longer!
Scotts lawn seed was a total failure when applied in spring and as directed. They lost my refund request and are now harnessing me about details and trying to avoid their so called " No Quibble Satisfaction Guarantee". I'm on my 3rd submission of documentation at this point and while they are testing my patience they will never defeat my resolve. Shame on you Scotts!

Earlier this spring season 2023, we purchased and applied Turf Builder Weed & Feed “clears our dandelions & clover - guaranteed*” 33.95lb bag. Followed directions accurately. A month later, dandelions and clover still actively growing, and no sign of the treated growth dying back.

Contacted Scotts for no-quibble product refund, something we’ve never done before in the 20+ years of buying and applying our Scotts 4 Step lawn care. Supplied the necessary details. No refund, but many emails requesting information that is none of their concern (they want to see all the personal purchases made on same receipt).

I never had read reviews on Scotts before, but apparently, this is typical.

Buyer beware.

Purchased a Scotts Bonus S fertilizer and followed the direction to a "T".
Not sure what your quality inspection is doing but they fell asleep on the job.

To make matters worse, customer service said they will not refund my money because I'm a consumer with a Pro account.

Buyer Beware! Been loyal for many years and maybe it is time to switch to Lesco.

Bought a Scotts drop fertilizer spreader. The axle rusted on it. I contacted Scotts They informed me that they do not supply the axle as a spare part. i have to throw the spreader out. Will not be buying one of these again.

I called Scott's last week and told their representative that I bought Scott's Turf Builder Winterguard Fall Weed and Feed and asked if it was okay for St Augustine grass. The person said Yes and told me the setting to use with my Scott's Spreader. We got a large rain so I called to ask if it washed out all the winterizer. I was told by representative 2 not to use this product on St Augustine and to water every 2 to 3 days to wash it out. No where on the bag does it say the grasses to avoid using on. I only discovered it accidentally after application on the internet. Also St Augustine is the main grass in our area - why sell it here?

Had an older fertilizer spreader that broke. Called Scotts and expected to order the part and the customer service was great. Not only did they help me verify the parts I needed, they shipped me a replacement part at no charge. I will always buy their products and I am impressed with their initial quality and their customer service if needed later.
