I was so disappointed to receive my order. After a delay in receiving it the dress was not as advertised on their website, but poor quality, shapeless, cheap polyester with hanging cotton threads. I have sent Selby and Rose an email requesting Returns information, so will wait for their response. Reading the reviews, I'm not expecting the customer care they profess to offer. This company surely cannot be allowed to continue trading as it is misrepresenting its goods and services.

I was somewhat disappointed with the quality of the material used . It is extremely flimsy and is not of a quality or weight that I would have chosen had I known before ordering. The Highland Cow design is lovely but it would be much nicer on a heavy cotton . I won’t be ordering anything else.

The website is deliberately misleading. This company is not a UK based family run unit. It is based on China.
Thought I ordered linen, unfortunately got viscose. No resemblance at all to the pictures on the website.
Sadly I did not read the trust pilot reviews and ordered from them.

This company is absolutely NOT what it seems, despite their protestations.
I do not believe there is anything other than a base in Manchester, if that.
I ordered two dresses. They took weeks to come. When I checked tracking it showed that an international flight had left from origin unknown. When they finally arrived, the quality was terrible. What appeared to be lacey embroidery on the advert was actually bad printing on fabric. Coloured fabric also looked like a photo rather than dye. Goodness knows how they would have washed! They went straight to recycling.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

Do not buy clothes from this complete sham of a company. The clothes are made in China, take ages to arrive,if at all,and look nothing like the pictures. To return them you have to pay postage, import tax and VAT so costs more than the item. When you express dissatisfaction you get an AI response. They offer a 15% discount immediately as an alternative. I’m taking my item straight to the charity shop - doubt they’ll want it either. Cheap viscose, nothing like the images, so badly made. Yet another rip off company. Please do not waste your money! 😡

I ordered a pair of sandals in Size 5(38). They seemed good quality but the strap was so short that it would hardly cover my ankle. I asked for a refund and after some emails back and forth they offered a 15% refund if I kept them. Rather than sending them back to China I will put them in the clothes recycling.

Total disappointment and now having to try and negotiate the ridiculous returns policy (not even explained on the website and tracked postage to Asia required at the customer's expense). The dungarees took 2 weeks to arrive and are the cheapest possible material, nothing like the image on the website. Would have cost pence to make and I paid £39.95 for them from Selby &Rose. Do not shop here.

Goods not received. No refund.

Very slow delivery - it obviously comes from Asia, and returns are to Asia too at customers' expense. But worse is the poor quality polyester dress I received that looks nothing like the attractive clothing on the website.

DO NOT shop here ! Disgusting business is scamming people of their money. My poor elderly aunt has saved up her pension to be able to buy a new dress for summer. When it arrived we were appalled by the state of the dress. There was unfinished threads hanging off the sleeves, the colour, size, fit of the dress did not match the photos online and the overall quality of the material was shocking! It looked at though a curtain had been used as opposed to the ‘ linen and cotton ‘ that was described.
Not only was the dress terribly quality but the customer service was terrible. Naturally we requested a refund and we were told we could have 25% back? It is advertised online that they offer 100% back on refunds. My poor aunt is terribly upset by this entire process, what should have been a treat for herself has now turned into hours back and forth the seller and the bank and try and disperse the issue.

I ordered 2 dresses, only 1 arrived (2 weeks after ordering). It was not the breathable fabric advertised but cheap polyester with poorly sewn seams. Having read the reviews (too late!) I won’t even bother attempting the returns process but will put it in the charity recycling bag.
Edit: 2nd dress arrived today but is equally hideous so off to the recycling too.

If I coukd have put no stars I would have done. This company should be banned from trading online. It is an utter scam. I have received one of the two dresses I have ordered and it is awful. Cheap shiny 100% polyester, shapeless and poorly finished. It arrived not beautifully packaged as they said, their website shows a dress in a box beautifully folded, it was squashed into a plastic bag. When I complained I was told that they would offer me a 15% discount if I kept the dress.I am reporting them to Action Fraud.

Scam....I was going to purchase one of their tops today when I realised that I had purchased the same bag they are selling on their site for £79.99 for £19.99 on Amazon. Then I looked at the really bad reviews on Trust Pilot and I am so glad it didn't ...

Customer support keeps in touch... but the waiting time for delivery is longer than expected. Update, 05-08-25: The dress I ordered arrived yesterday. It took two weeks, and was delivered efficiently and carefully. Customer support stayed in touch frequently, as did the delivery service. Overall, I consider the item I purchased to be acceptable in quality, but not good. The finish is not professional: there are some uneven joins, and threads hanging. The three stars I put before as score remain valid. The material used is 95% Polyester and 5% Spandex, made in China. I think the problem with this company is lack of transparency in branding, location, image, details and materials of the garments.

Absolutely shocking, was not the dress which I ordered... different material, different pattern, different style... DO NOT ORDER from them... this is a scam !!! They won't refund and postage to return is China... even though they said shop is in Manchester!!!!

I’ve been asked to review before even receiving my order, but know it’s going to be awful because they claim all over the website that it’s a Manchester brand but the products are shipped from abroad. I spotted that the returns policy requires you to pay for shipping so it’s bound to require me to pay to send them abroad when they arrive and having read reviews they will be awful. 😢

Ordering and despatch of item was efficient. Problems began with returns. They market themselves as UK based, stores in London and Manchester, free UK delivery, full refunds. Though they state that customers are responsible for the expense of returns and that their East Asia facility handles these, it only becomes clear when you try to return something that it is not straight forward. What followed was a significant attempt to deter me from returning it. Instead I was offered an incrementally larger percentage of the total value and asked instead if I'd like to hold onto it, give it to a friend or donate it to charity. They did not want to disclose that returns involved shipping to China. When they eventually did it was done in a "suit yourself, we warned you" kind of tone and an address was supplied with the kind of tracking information requirements that maximise the cost and increase the chances of the package never making it and therefore no refund being offered. This only increased with the supplied returns address containing a very specific piece of delivery information written in English. My request for an address label written in Chinese was not answered, instead I was provided with a generic answer repeating information I'd already had previously. The quality of the dress is so cheap. Thankfully, I'd bought it at half price. The full price would have been way over its worth.

I can only echo what others have said. This is a scam. Misrepresentation om their website of what they sell - the actual dress was an appalling cheap nasty fabric and the print was blurred. I requested to return and was eventually told they'd offer 30% refund, and I could gift the dress to a friend! I wouldn't gift it to anyone - It's dreadful! I asked what the return & refund process is and they wouldn't divulge that, other than to say the purchaser is responsible for the postage. My guess it's an offerseas return address & the postage would is excessive. I accepted their offer - better than nothing. I'll report to Trading Standards.

As per all other reviews the website looks lovely but is a scam!! The beautiful packaging referred to is an out & out lie. My item was scrunched into a small grey bag that looked like an eBay/Vinted bag. The fabric is not linen, it’s so shabby it could spark in the dark and catch fire. I’ve lost £40 and can’t be bothered with the agro of trying to return the item to an address that begins…No. 2 freight elevator on the west side of the 3rd floor, upstairs, Yuantong!!! I also got the negotiating discount emails once I stated I wanted a return. In summary - Do not buy from these people

This is terrible! I ordered a dress. The quality is terrible, it’s cheap polyester and looks awful! When I tried to return they wanted me to return to China! And said I might have to pay customs charges! Do not buy from this business. It is not a Manchester company at all.
