I hadn’t heard of Services.com.au before it came up in a Google search, but I’m glad I found it. The registration and setup were quick and straightforward. Just a quick review
I needed a sparky as mine had retired and saw Service.com.au and thought I'd give them a go. Great decision. Posted a job just and had several replies. Got a decent quote considering it was at Christmas time. Job was done professionally as quoted by Andy. Would definitely recommend.

Dodgy tradesman
I used the website service.com.au to put out a fencing job request. H&M Landscape and Gardens, run by Hayden William Rixon (ABN: 24522620201), responded to the request.
I made the error of telling him I was abroad and, claiming insecurity, he demanded an upfront payment of $14,500 to go ahead with the job. Having spent weeks searching for alternative tradesmen, I reluctantly agreed and made the payment.
He later dumped fencing materials on the property and never built the fence.
The OFT took the matter to court on 8th December 2025 and convicted him of a breach of consumer law. Prior this, service.com.au did next to nothing, claiming to have tried to contact the tradesman but nothing else.
The reason I hold service.com.au partially responsible is that it had given me the impression that this tradesman had been vetted, what with the 3 green ticks next to his name. It was very obvious that nobody had ever vetted this guy, who not only had made numerous criminal court appearances, but didn't even have a building license.

At the time you were contacted, the business you referenced was unverified, which is the lowest level of verification on our platform. They did not hold full verification status, and no green verification ticks were displayed to indicate vetting or endorsement. Verification on our platform is not a guarantee of licensing, qualifications, or conduct, and we always recommend customers independently confirm licences, insurance, and avoid large upfront payments.
Once we became aware of the concerns raised, the business was removed from our platform. We take reports of this nature very seriously and act promptly when issues are identified.
While we are unable to investigate or resolve disputes between customers and independent businesses, we do appreciate you bringing this to our attention. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact our support team directly so we can review your account and provide any assistance available from our side.
