Troublesome LPAsI was having trouble getting my LPA,s…
I was having trouble getting my LPA,s sorted through the Public Guardians office. Kept getting returned numerous times for what seemed to be the same reason. Thankfully a lovely gentleman called Ben contacted me and asked if l needed help. He talked me through exactly what l needed to do so hopefully all will be fine this time. Politeness isn't much to ask for.
The whole process was dragged out. One reason for this was the poor quality of emails sent which were not clear and could be very confusing.
The staff need to have some public relations training. It doesn't cost a lot to be polite, especially when the client is paying an extortionate amount for the service.

Thank you for your feedback. We have conducted an investigation into the emails exchanged between you and our case handler, and we apologise for any confusion caused during this process. We understand that requesting ID from both yourself and the trustees may have been unclear. However, there are procedures we must follow prior to Land Registry submission. All settlors and trustees are required to provide two forms of identification, and we did provide you with a list of acceptable documents. Due to the strict requirements for the application, proof of address must be dated within the last three months, and we cannot accept items like credit card statements or phone bills.

I found the whole experience with Silvertime Legal an extremely professional and friendly experience. The presentation from Gerry was informative and he ensured all our needs were covered. Hidden Costs, email ignored. Arranged for 'free' wills for me and ex…
Arranged for 'free' wills for me and ex husband, plus POAs and recommended that we put the house into Tenants in Common rather than Joint Owners. Of course not free at all, but went ahead anyway. Notified that Wills are in storage, but we've now decided it would be more convenient to have them here. Both stored under same reference number, although we live at different addresses- 'hidden' cost of £25 each to have them posted, this doesn't get pointed out until you or your Family actually ask for the Wills- should be made clear from the start. Also after 3 emails to Silvertime I'm still waiting for any reply or to be advised what is happening with the Tenants in Common paperwork, as it's just being ignored.

A very thorough process
Our introduction to Silvertime came from a presentation at a Prostate Cancer Support meeting in December 2023. The presentation by Stephanie was very useful in determining the legal documents we needed to complete the 'full set'.
Stephanie then attended our home (following our invite) and was very thorough explaining what we were missing. The process then passed to the administration team (Zarin) who were equally thorough in preparing the documents and ensuring they were correct.
Finally Asif came along (on 27th February) to get all the forms signed ready for sending to the Office of the Public Guardian.
A great experience all round. Probably not the cheapest, but these documents need to be correct and we were extremely happy with the service. Well done Stephanie, Yarin and Asif.

Trust registration…
Today I registered a trust online with HMRC and was given guidance all the way by Benjamin Gilbert on how to go through the process. What could have ben a quite daunting experience was made so much more easy because of the advice and guidance given over the phone which I really appreciated.

Nearly a good 4 star - but!
Will and POA - I did not realise that it would be up to me to complete the final steps in this procedure.
I.e. I had to send the signed documentation to the relevant people listed in the Will and Power of Attorney - for signatures -receive it back and then mail completed documents on for registration.
