God forbid you need actual help

God forbid you need actual help. This company, using the name Hosixy, is abusive to customers. The “support” told my client his site had infected files BUT refused to supply the results of the scan they allegedly did. Then, after I called them out for poor service, their “support” made the claim that had “just scanned and again found infected files” only this time they attached screenshots. Those screenshots showed the scan was done on 6/19, 2 weeks ago!

Don’t use this company if you rely upon their help.

FYI: the company has replied claiming the wrong company was reviewed. They are wrong. It was 100% them.

Control panel is great

Control panel is great, VPSs are dependable, but customer support seems a bit not much concerned to really learn about your problems. Anyway, I get it and like the service a lot. Cheers!

We do not refund after service delivery, as long as no problems on our end. In this case, client was attempting to install Windows O/S on a Linux VPS. We informed him that is not supported, but it can be done, but they are on their own with such. We do provide Windows ISOs in the system for such needs. They did not have technical skillset apparently to handle such. Not our fault, we delivered the exact service that was ordered. They were also advised to order a Windows VPS otherwise, and we would have transferred prior payment to such new service for them.

Average service, spammy, broken control panel.

The control panel is botched: some links don't work, resetting password is broken.

Tech support is prompt and knowledgeable.

The VPS is average in performance, and more expensive than average. The only reason I contracted is that it was the only provider oferring the specific location I needed at the time. Location was more important than performance or cost for me at the time.

The company loves to spam you, by trying to obtain your consent at every possible opportunity. There are reports of the mailing list being built from all past acquired businesses, which means you might receive their spam even if you are only a past customer of a business they acquired at some point. Very shady practice.

We use industry standard billing, control panel, and site templates. Unfortunately not in our direct control to fix such bugs. Client is also the only client reporting such an issues, and we have been unable to recreate such.

Performance will vary per location, per hardware node, and per service type. We actively monitor and balance our nodes, so they maintain good and fair performance across our infrastructure.

I'd have to disagree on pricing, we're pretty low priced, especially for the size of our company and footprint. You will probably find alot of small startups with lessor pricing, but that is a risk you take with service reliability and them remaining in business. We are not a bargain basement pricing provider, but I would consider us pretty darn inexpensive compared to most providers of our equivalent size, reliability, and infrastructure.

We maintain an active mailing list, and constantly are acquiring other companies and absorbing their operations in to ours. We only mail the list 1-3 times per month typically. The subscription removal works with one click...use it if you so desire. It instantly removes you, and will not add you back no matter if you are on mailing lists of any future acquisitions integrated.

Rude, old hardware, ancient hardware, bad service.

Find another provider, rude, bad customer service, ultra slow hosting, did not refund.

Our need was 8 servers for a client, and my boss bought 1 server for my work to test.

Besides being under-powered and old old Ancient hardware from 12 yrs ago, the customer service was rude.

Without using it, we cancelled on the Same day within 12 hrs, but they Refused to cancel or refund our service.

Client WAS refunded, prior to this review, when it was clear we could not work with him.

Client had minimal understanding of VPS market, and typical hosting hardware utilized in hosting industry in the small-medium provider category. He was provisioned on Xeon E5 v1/v2 series hardware, not the newest gear out there, but perfectly capable of provide adequate services, especially at the low prices we charged for the package selected. Sometimes it is better to be on older hardware with far less users/load on it, then the newest hardware loaded full with clients...performance will be better. We do balance our nodes well, and make sure not overloaded. Older hardware gets decommissioned when the cost to maintain and power it no longer is viable compared to installing new equipment.

Client had no understanding that different hosting providers utilize different hardware, and expected every hosting provider to only use the newest just because a couple providers he knows do. He specifically ordered a "Budget VPS" which is ultra high resources, at a very low price, provisioned on older hardware!

Client also failed to read our Terms of Service, and accused of not telling him policies in advance, not listed TOS in advertisements, when he specifically agreed to them when he placed the order.

Basically, he blamed us for his failures and lack of understanding. We tried to explain everything to him, and even come up with alternatives on different hardware, or even a deal on newer hardware at reasonable prices (just not budget rates...), but it went no where. We issued a refund when we found that we just couldn't work with him and better he moved along elsewhere. ;-(

Unfortunately we cannot please every client, no matter what we try, and regardless of how good our services are. Obviously for every poor review out there, there are hundreds of happy clients that don't both to do reviews.

Ignore. Was not ever an active client with our company. Fraudster that was just denied service activation from us. Florida billing address, based on NY order on the IP, and coming from Nigeria! Yea right....

Everyone who is looking for a VPS…

Everyone who is looking for a VPS provider with great service and unbeatable fees should decide for smarthost.net. The guys there offer perfect support. I'm not really an easy-going customer. But Shawn, Riyas and Nisamudeen were always polite and helpful no matter which problems occurred, they fixed all bugs. And I wrote numerous mails to get help for my self-managed VPS. All issues have been solved fastly and easily. You can even install your own ISO on your VPS without any further fee. Absolute recommendable and great company!

Found their prices competitive and…SmartHost

Found their prices competitive and delivery is in good time. I will see how my hosting goes but can’t fault any aspects of their service. I read on wht forum about abysmal service from this company but there’s two companies called SmartHost. So far so good.
