High regards for Dr. Zoltan’s teaching skill in the subject of Mathematics

Tutor let down
The tutor didn't turn up for 3 consecutive appointments after an initial 10 minute FREE meeting. This has cost him 2 weeks revision time before a resit.

Good flow of students and the platform is very good for online lessons. Support staff are quick, kind, and helpful. Payments are also done weekly and I love the fact that I can set my own rates.

Amazing teacher

Very efficient and high quality tutors…
Very efficient and high quality tutors - we're very happy with our experience with Spires. We had two tutors who were particularly impressive, patient, insight and motivating - Magued Wilson for Physics, and Nadeem Javed for Chemistry. My daughter went from very anxious about her work to achieving straight 7s in HL in both subjects in her IB. I very highly recommend both Spires and these two tutors.

Unjustified rejection
I’m a mathematics tutor with over 8 years of experience and over 5000 hours teaching maths at Primary, Secondary, GCSE, A-Level, IB, and Undergraduate levels. Most of these hours have been online, some in schools, and a lot in Undergraduate seminars. I have built up a strong track record in helping students improve over short and long periods of time with over 150 reviews at 5/5 stars, glowing written reviews, and returning clients.
My qualifications include a PhD in Applied Mathematics, a 1st class MMath undergraduate degree, and A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths, and Business Studies.
Given my extensive experience, and how much it aligns with what Spires *claims* to be looking for, it was very surprising to me that I was rejected at the application stage with no feedback provided at all.
Having read some other reviews on here, it seems I am not alone in this.
What makes my experience even worse is that I spent a good deal of time putting together my profile in the application stage, so it is extremely disrespectful to be rejected in this unprofessional way.
My advice to those thinking of applying: please don’t bother! There are better tutoring platforms out there. If Spires has rejected someone like myself, or another teacher with over 30 years of experience, it sounds like the company doesn’t know what they’re doing, or more likely, they don’t even read your application and just reject you based on some number e.g. ‘We have too many tutors!’ — how is that my problem? You should make it clear that you don’t want me before I start an application!

At Spires, we have a comprehensive application process in place to ensure that students on our platform have access to the highest quality tutors. Every application we receive is carefully reviewed by a member of our team. We do not use automated filtering or arbitrary rejection criteria.
That said, we do receive thousands of applications each month, many from highly qualified and experienced educators. Unfortunately, in some cases, we are not actively onboarding in certain subject areas due to limited student demand. In these instances, accepting additional tutors would not serve the applicant well, as we would be unable to provide them with the opportunities they are likely seeking.
While we understand the time and effort it takes to apply and appreciate the impressive credentials and experience outlined, we are not able to provide individual feedback due to the volume of applications we receive.
We regret that this has been a frustrating experience, and we wish you all the best in finding a platform that better aligns with your expectations.

I had very good experience and a very good time especially with my tutor Hussein. In a very short period of time, we achieved more than half of the modules. I am very grateful for this site that helped me understand the material. Also I would say, if it weren't for the Spires I don't think I would have achieved the desired success.

Spires website is great, the tutors are even better!
Spires website is really user friendly and straightforward, within 10 minutes of me coming across the website I was chatting with a tutor. Communicating with a tutor, setting up classes and making payments is also really straightforward.
I have only worked with one tutor at Spires and I’m hoping he will be around for the remainder of my studies. Khizar is the epitome of what you expect from your tutor. He is very knowledgeable, which is obviously the standard for any tutor but Khizar was also able to calm me down, reassure me and help build my confidence to a point where my mindset towards exams has genuinely changed - in turn, helping my performance in exams. We created study plans and he held me accountable, he pushed me in some areas but allowed me the time to focus on the areas I was struggling with when I needed.
Above all Khizar is a genuinely lovely guy, I thoroughly enjoyed working with him and I really hope he’s around to help me finish my qualification. It’s people like him that make Spires awesome.

Incredible Experience
I had a fantastic experience with Spires, where I used it for a little over a year to help with my undergraduate studies in engineering. The platform itself was easy to use, reliable, and makes it simple to connect with highly qualified tutors, whether it’s through the bidding process or selecting one yourself. Booking sessions, sharing materials, and communication was seamless, as well as being able to access the recordings and the whiteboards at all times helped for review.
What made the experience truly outstanding was my tutor - Hussein.
I came across the site after struggling with multiple subjects, and from the very first lesson Hussein made a huge difference. Understanding my learning style and visualising the problems helped me understand in ways that I thought I could not. He helped me through my final year, where he taught me three subjects to the point of actually enjoying them and enjoying the lessons themselves. His explanations made complex topics such as hydraulics, geotechnics, and structural analysis digestible, where he taught with a level of clarity that I honestly didn’t think was possible. Atop of that, he helped me through a tough academic period with his teaching style and reassurance, where his support played a huge role in helping me not just pass and graduate, but succeed.
Im so grateful for both the platform and Hussein, I highly recommend to anyone who needs quality, consistent academic support.
