Gone downhill in the last year
I've been a tutor since 2019 on Spires and this year I've noticed the jobs have really gone downhill. You will receive 10 jobs a day, but they get the maximum number of bids within 4-5 minutes. When you do manage to place a bid, I find only 5% of people reply - most people log a request and never come back to the Spires platform. It's frustrating spending time to place a bid only for it never to amount to anything.

Excellent tutor!
I am immensely grateful to have been tutored by Karen throughout my time doing AQA Alevel philosophy. Karen is incredibly knowledgeable and patient. She explained things very clearly, helped me to improve my knowledge and exam technique. Karen has experience with dyslexic students, as someone with severe dyslexia, I felt she truly went above and beyond to help me achieve my grade A. MBA tutoring review
I am new to spire. I am studying an mba online. I was struggling as I hadn’t studied intensely in years and I was missing interaction and human discussion of the course.
Dr Megha has been great, helping me through the material, she is very patient and teaching me areas I hadn’t picked up well from learning on my own.
I like the spire platform, it’s interactive and similar to zoom with screen share which comes in useful.
All round good experience so far.
The tutoring with Dr Megha has made me feel comfortable with continuing my studies when I was considering dropping out.

Excellent econometrics tutor
Spires is easy to use and we found several tutors for econometrics. We had an introductory chat with Gurpreet who was an excellent tutor. The sessions were easy to book and of a high standard. Payment was straightforward.
Overall we were impressed with the site.

The additional star could be gotten if the commission wasn’t so high so lessons to students wouldn’t be charged so much
Also a lot of files can’t be shared due to the max being 200MB

Fake profiles of tutors to attract but they never reply
I am so frustrated with this experience! I was looking for tutor for my kid and found really good profiles with experience in exams and teaching but when I write to them they never reply! I only get messages from students and inexperienced graduates. When I asked support i got into bots and it says teachers do not have to reply! Really? So I am left with students to choose from and the profiles they show with experience have the right not to reply? How come? FAKE! When I see prices I get 105€ and when my fried neighbour looks at the same profile of the teacher he sees 90€. Why? Unbelievable to treat customers like that! untrustworthy platform!
Reply to your answer- That is exactly the reason why i wrote this review because we had a teacher wit good qualifications and I am looking for the same standard and all your other requests are not even close to it and PhD doesn't make them qualify. The only profile I could find that would match the good standard doesn't reply. Ok but why she is the only one with experience in exams. And why I think I was talking to a bot because it was answering the wrong question. All the time I ask about the tutor it answers about bids. Sorry I work with AI everyday I can spot it immediately. My child needs proper tutor with experience in exams and teaching experience and results not PhD or recent degree at Oxford.

Hi Lana,
I've reviewed your requests and I can see that you have had over 127 hours of tutoring using our services, so I'm glad to see that you have found several tutors who have provided the support that you are looking for.
In the case of your most recent requests, whilst you are able to directly message tutors through the platform, the tutor doesn't have to agree to the connection. This won't happen often, but if the tutor is busy and isn't currently taking on new students until finishing with their current students, then they will choose not to respond to new requests.
I have also reviewed the bids you have received directly on your Chemistry request and three of the applicants have their PhDs in Chemistry, one has written and published several A-level Chemistry textbooks, so I believe these are strong candidates to support your children, they are of course not just recent graduates.
Our platform manager responded quickly when you asked about why other tutors hadn't replied to you and when you said you weren't happy with the bids received from tutors, offered you an explanation of how to dismiss bids, so more tutors could apply and also sent the relevant platform guides with step by step instructions. Unfortunately you continuously accused her of being a bot which meant that she was no longer able to provide instructions on how to proceed.
Whilst we appreciate this has been frustrating, we hope that you can go back and review the bids received from tutors, as we think there's some excellent options there to support your children.
