How does International Star Registry name stars?: Through the centuries, the stars above us have been recorded in dozens of different astronomical catalogs created by scientists throughout the world. Modern scientists do not refer to most of these catalogs. In 1979, International Star Registry was founded for the specific purpose of allowing everyone on Earth to take part in claiming a special connection to the starry skies above us. We broke with scientific tradition and created a completely unique catalog of the stars, assigning names to stars and listing them alphabetically rather than by size and location. We name stars for people and publish all of the star names with their telescopic coordinates in this book as a permanent, copyrighted record of the star name and location. Each star is unique. We derive all of the coordinates from the publicly available NASA Hubble Guide Star Catalog and name each star only once. Because the star names and coordinates are printed in these hard-cover volumes, 100 years from now our descendants can locate the recipient's name in the book along with the telescopic coordinates of the unique star named. 10 volumes of the book "Your Place in the Cosmos" (Library of Congress Catalog No. 84-63015) have been published and copyrighted in the United States thus far. When Office 365 tried to send the message to the recipient (outside Office 365), the recipient's email server (or email filtering service) suspected the sender's message is spam.
It's a thoughtful gift. Size of a degree. It's a certificate, with documentation on the star. I got mine professional matted and framed. They put the star info on the back., Pricey for what you get.
So after the poor customer service I received. NOW after tracking my package, international star registry didn't put the apartment number on my package they mailed out and is now being returned to sender (I would post screen shot of their confirmation of my mailing address but cant). NOW the baby shower gift WILL NOT BE HERE ON TIME!! Not only am I out the 68 dollars, I have to now go out and find something else and spend even more money. Worst experience EVER!! Do not I repeat do not use this company, go ANYWHERE else. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. Now let's see how hard getting a refund will be. Will keep post updated.
