I paid $4.95 for a Record, but got a subscription.
I paid $4.95 to find a Record; but, I found I was signed up for a $19p/mo subscription. I didn’t want or need a continuing subscription. So, I called the support number. It was answered quickly and the person I spoke to was very helpful, patient, considerate, forthcoming and collaborative. She answered every question, provided information I hadn’t thought of, and dove deep to retrieve my information to cancel my subscription. She went above and beyond my expectations. It was very satisfactory experience for a cancellation call.

It's a scam
Edit: I still believe it's a scam. I called and got their voicemail. I left a message and no one ever called me back. More hoops to continue to jump through. How can they say they can't find my account when they can find it to bill me each month?!
I found by subscribing to RocketMoney that they could cancel for me. How could a third party find the account info that the vendor couldn't find? I'm still out $60 but shouldn't get charged again (probably?).

ya it just keeps telling me no record…
ya it just keeps telling me no record found and i tried different people and types of searches… i thought i cancelled the free trial but apparently not! They are a scam and will try to pull $30 from your card every damn month but make it nearly impossible to cancel! i’ll be taking action to get my $ refunded!

Bait and Switch practices
Website gives impression of a legit state organization. It is not!
They offer $1 one-week's trial subscription. Upon agreeing and searching a name the search results provide only the name searched with the message "We Found Additional Records for (name) in our Premium Database for just $15".
Request for a $1 refund via their web site went unanswered.
Upon filing a dispute with payment institution, case was decided in my favor, StateRecords issued refund.
Email to their customer service about their misleading practices produced a nebulous reply.
UPDATE:
Their trial subscription and recurring charges appear significantly higher in a most recent search. Buyer beware!

WRETCHED over-billing company!?
WRETCHED over-billing company!?! Cancelled via email after a five minutes of use and just noticed that they've been charging me for NINE MONTHS!? That's a $200 steal. Had to call customer service and walk through the second cancellation. That call was recorded ;-)
