My son is learning with O'Brien. He is an absolute professional - patient, knowledgeable and approachable. He has taken the fear out of swimming and is supporting my non-verbal, autistic son to learn - an incredible achievement and he really is one of the best instructors out there.

I want to share my experience of swimming lessons with this company.
I am 56 and always been petrified of water.
I joined swim expert initially having lessons with Darren who focused on getting me in the water and being comfortable.
Due to my pool having works done, I then had a break and returned to lessons in February with Caitlin. She has been amazing really tailoring my lessons to me and giving me weekly goals to progress. She has been fantastic, encouraging and supportive throughout. I can’t thank her enough for teaching me a life skill - I was a wobbly customer and she has helped me overcome this. Today I have swam unaided simply as she put her arm out for support. I still can’t believe that I have started to swim. I’m so happy and so very grateful for her amazing compassion and teaching skills. Whilst in the changing room a young girl was waiting to have a lesson and I shared with her family how wonderful she is. I just can’t thank her enough she is brilliant!

We used swim expert lessons at Robinswood, Gloucester over a period of a couple of years, booking childrens 1-2-1 swimming lessons in sets of 10. Whilst the earlier lessons were better and the instructors a lot more consistent. Sadly our final 10 lessons finishing a couple of months ago were a very poor experience. With 4 different swim instructors across the 10 lessons! To make matters worse, some weeks the instructors didn't update notes and the next lesson the new instructor had no idea where our children were up to.
We had also (before the final 10 lessons) recommended swim expert lessons to friends at our primary school. Our friends happened to also book 10 lessons for their two children with very similar timing to ourselves. They also sadly had very similar experience with 4 different instructors across the lessons and accordingly poor consistency and progression, not at all what they had expected. This is embarrassing for us, having previously recommended swim expert to our friends. And bad for swim experts business.
I hardly ever write reviews online, however I have in this case because of both our and our friends poor experience and the lack of response from swim expert management. I called swim expert a couple of months ago and explained our very disappointing experience. Which they acknowledged was inconsistent and less than optimal given the changing swim instructors. They promised to discuss our case internally and revert within a few days. However they never bothered to follow up.
Swim expert lessons are priced as a premium product, yet the service was not. Disappointing to say the least. Our children's swimming is now progressing well at another swim school that is very well managed and offers both small group and 1-2-1 lessons if desired. I personally know finding swimming lessons can be a frustrating process for parents, with waiting lists, lack of replies to inquiries and difficult lesson times. Shop around, there are good swimming schools out there!

Matthew has been absolutely amazing in helping our 7 year old with his confidence. His swimming has come on incredibly, he's swimming independently and loving it. Swimming is now something he enjoys and wants to do. I couldn't recommend Matthew at SwimExpert enough!

Matthew is helping my son regain confidence as a swimmer after not enjoying swimming at school. Individual lessons are well worth the investment. He is a calm and encouraging teacher. I like the way he shows different techniques until he finds the right one for the child.

Matthew has been an amazing swim instructor for our autistic 5-year-old son. Our son is non-verbal, and Matthew has shown incredible patience, understanding, and skill in helping him learn to swim. He creates a calm, supportive environment and has built a wonderful connection with him.

We are so proud of the progress our son has made and it’s largely thanks to Matthew’s dedication and encouragement. Seeing him grow in confidence and do so brilliantly in the water has been fantastic. We can’t recommend Matthew highly enough.

Highly efficient …brilliant locations….excellent customer service very accommodating.

The instructors are professional punctual excellent at what they do. Highly recommend Christian T my girls love him he’s fun and kind but gets them to somehow do the hard work in a enjoyable way. They LOVE their swim sessions…best part is their gaining the skills and reaching milestones at a steady pace.

We could not be happier with Chester as a swimming teacher for our 5 yr old daughter. She had really helped grow her confidence in the water.

Chester (Kam Sau Y) has been a brilliant instructor. My son, Jack, and we as parents were extremely impressed during the trial session so much so that Jack immediately asked if Chester could be his swimming instructor. She was originally fully booked, and the only available slot was 5:30–6:00 pm on Sundays, which didn’t work for us. Despite this, she was incredibly kind and adjusted her schedule to start earlier so she could accommodate us. That alone shows her dedication and commitment.

Jack has now completed his fifth lesson. He loves and keeps looking forward to his every session and we can already see a noticeable improvement in both his skills and his confidence in the water. We especially appreciate that Chester incorporates life‑saving techniques, such as what to do in an accidental fall into the water something particularly important given the recent news during the hot weather. It truly shows how much she cares about her students’ safety and overall development.

What we value most about Chester is her focus on building strong foundations. Whenever Jack performs a technique incorrectly, she stops him immediately to correct it, ensuring he learns the right way from the start. This level of attention and professionalism makes a huge difference, as it prevents bad habits that would be harder to fix later on. So thank you Chester!

Marius has been really amazing teacher to my Autistic Son. He knows how to tackle the situation and go through his interest along with teaching him to be confident in water. I am very happy and satisfied.

Matthew has done a fantastic job with our 5-year-old son. He has made tremendous progress in the last few weeks and had a lot of fun too. Highly recommended.

Robert was great, understood what I needed to gain from the lessons and helped me tenfold, gave me the confidence and the technique to be able to complete my first triathlon

Having one to one lessons enabled me to gain confidence in the water, which for someone who has never been in a swimming pool before ( I am 70+) this was a bonus! Pasha was an amazingly patient swimming instructor and I am very happy with the time I spent with her.

My swim coach in Brentford is excellent , very knowledgeable, patient, and professional. I’m really happy with the training.

However, my experience with some of the staff members has been very disappointing. A few of them come across as rude and lack basic customer service skills, which affects the overall experience. Last when I spoke they even promised a call back from Manager, which never happened. I hope this feedback is taken seriously because the coaching quality deserves much better support from the rest of the team.

Very good service and my swimming instructor has been really great and supportive.
She has put 100% effort to teach me swimming and I feel so much comfortable now.

Simon is such a fantastic Coach. He makes learning to swim as an adult, a real pleasure! I would recommend him especially to those who seriously wants to experience the joy of safe swimming. Kudos to SwimExpert for consistent quality service delivery.

Pav at SwimExpert has been helping me to improve my swimming. I needed to 'relearn' having built up some bad technique - Pav was extremely patient and has a very nurturing style. I hope to be a much more proficient swimmer soon.

My daughter's been attending SwimExpert for around 9 months now for 1:1 lessons with Rachel and her confidence in the water has considerably with a mix of float-assisted locking drills, stroke technique and underwater work (skinkes)

The wider SwimExpert team have been great in terms of organising lesson bookings.

Dan is a very patient teacher. My kids have great fun, really look forward to their lesson, and we see real progress each week.
