The Family Chemist is a family-run, GPhC-regulated UK online pharmacy providing NHS and private healthcare services to patients across the UK.
Launched in 2021 and based in West Bridgford, Nottingham, our aim is to make accessing prescriptions and healthcare simple, safe and convenient. Our UK-based pharmacy and clinical teams combine professional expertise with easy-to-use digital services, helping patients manage their health from the comfort of home.
NHS & Private Prescription Services
Our NHS repeat prescription service allows eligible patients to nominate The Family Chemist through the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS). Once nominated, prescriptions can be sent directly to us, dispensed by our pharmacy team and delivered free to your door.
We also offer private online prescribing services. Patients can complete a secure online consultation which is reviewed by a qualified UK clinician. Where treatment is clinically appropriate, a prescription is issued, dispensed and delivered discreetly.
Delivery, Payments & Returns
We provide fast and discreet UK delivery, with free delivery available on NHS prescriptions.
To make ordering as convenient as possible, we offer a range of secure online payment options, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Klarna and Clearpay. Available payment methods may vary depending on your order and will be clearly displayed at checkout.
For patient safety, medicines cannot be returned, exchanged or refunded once they have been dispatched. This applies even if the medication remains unopened.
Returns and refunds for eligible non-medicinal items may be available depending on the product and circumstances, and are subject to our Terms & Conditions. If you would like to cancel an order, arrange a return or report an issue with your delivery, please contact our team as soon as possible.

Disappointing
Order took a while to come, I had to chase it up. It was also disappointing to find that the epi-pens only had a 12 month shelf life left. I purposely purchased the Jext pens as I know they have a shelf life of 22 months from the point of manufacture. These had obviously been manufactured 10 months previously. Unlikely to order from here again.

We would like to reassure you that all medication supplied by The Family Chemist is dispensed within its approved expiry date and in accordance with our pharmacy procedures. A manufacturer's maximum shelf life begins from the date of manufacture, so unfortunately this does not mean that the full shelf life will remain when the medication reaches a pharmacy and is dispensed.
Stock availability and expiry dates can vary throughout the regulated pharmaceutical supply chain, which means we cannot guarantee a particular remaining shelf life unless this has been discussed with us beforehand.
We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that you may not choose us again. If you have a particular expiry requirement in the future, please contact our team before ordering and we will always be happy to check what is available where possible.

Everything seems to be reasonably priced.

Overall a very good experience,pricing was reasonable,questionaire was good albeit website could do with modernising but simple to use good feed back once ordered.Only downside was delivery which was due to Royal Mail stayed in for two days and it did not arrive and it still arrived late on third day.Overall a good experience thank you.

An ultra suspicious company
Ordered and paid for two 10 mg Monjarro pens ( circa £530 ) as going abroad for longer than one would suffice. You only sent one and when I notified you within 5 mins of the delivery I felt like your customer services didn’t believe me as you asked me to confirm in an email and photograph the pen received. I asked your customer services what good the photograph would do as “ I can’t photograph a missing pen”. He put me on hold and then came back and said they realised they had only sent one pen. !!. Also had an experience during very hot summer where parcel was delivered late during the days of 30c heat ( which obviously destroys the liquid) and what a farce once again with your customer services where I was told to return the pen before you would despatch another. Not the customers fault either about the heat or the late delivery but was treated as though it were. You are an ultra suspicious company.

We would, however, like to reassure you that requesting confirmation, photographs or other supporting information when investigating an order is a standard part of our process and should not be interpreted as questioning a customer's honesty.
As soon as our internal checks identified an issue with the order, this was acknowledged and the appropriate action was taken. We believe this demonstrates that the purpose of our checks is to establish the facts quickly and ensure the correct resolution is provided.
Similarly, concerns involving medication during transit must be assessed carefully. As a regulated pharmacy supplying prescription medicines, we cannot simply bypass the necessary checks or immediately issue additional medication without following the appropriate procedures.
We strongly disagree with the suggestion that these safeguards make us an untrustworthy or suspicious company. They exist to protect our patients, ensure prescription medicines are handled responsibly and allow us to investigate concerns fairly and consistently.
We appreciate your feedback and are sorry that the way these procedures were communicated made you feel otherwise.
