Thelightuphub Avis

The lightuphub is absolutely amazing!! After having a terrible English teacher for most of the gcse period English was really tough and I was forced to teach myself. But then I came across the lightuphub and it changed my life!! I highly recommend to everyone

The light up hub was different from any other resource I tried especially for English literature! The videos and notes were quite unique for example the quotes and analysis they used, not like the common answer you’d find in a grade 5 average essay. The analysis developed my essays by far even my teachers were impressed!! 100% would recommend to everyone especially if you want a 9.

The lightuphub is incredibly useful, their vocabulary and videos definitely helped me achieve my targets and got me a higher gcse grade than I was predicted! I would definitely recommend you to get this to help you smash your English GCSEs!

I started using the LightUp Hub when I began Year 11 because I had achieved a Grade 5 in both English Language and English Literature in my Year 10 mocks.

For English Literature, I relied heavily on the LightUp Hub as my main source of revision. However, I ended up achieving a Grade 5 again in my actual GCSEs, which was really disappointing. The LightUp Hub does have some really useful and detailed analysis of quotes for English Literature, but I found that there were many inaccuracies. My teachers actually picked up on some of these when I used the analysis in my mocks.

Because of this, if you do decide to use the LightUp Hub, I would strongly recommend not relying on it as your only source of revision. You need to regularly cross-check its analysis with your teachers and other reliable sources to make sure the interpretations you are learning are accurate. This is particularly frustrating because the LightUp Hub is quite expensive, so I don't think you should have to spend additional time and effort checking whether the information you're paying for is actually correct.

I also tried using the LightUp Hub for English Language revision, but I stopped using it almost immediately because I personally didn't find it very useful. Instead, I used ChatGPT, particularly for Paper 1 Question 4. I would give it my pre-planned answers and stories, and it would mark them and suggest improvements to help me reach a 40/40 level response. I found this extremely useful, as it helped me improve that section significantly and contributed to me achieving a Grade 7 in English Language in my actual GCSEs.

Overall, I think the LightUp Hub has some useful resources, particularly its quote analysis for English Literature, but considering its cost, I don't think it is really worth it. If you do use it, make sure you cross check the analysis with your teacher and other reliable sources. Personally, I found other free resources and ChatGPT much more useful for my English Language revision.

The light up hub saved my English GCSE grades so much!! They are so detailed, helpful, and I love how the videos go through each and every point so thoroughly. I love it!

I began using the lightup really struggling to get higher than a 7 in both english lit and lang but after using it for only 2 months I was able to get a 9 in english lit and an 8 in english lang in my GCSES! Lightup Hub made revising feel so much easier and gave me amazing techniques and advice that truly helped me get the grades I did! I recommend everyone in lower years to get it!

English literature is a subject which does not come easy to me and I find incredibly difficult. I achieved a grade 5 in English literature in my first mocks and after using the light up hub basically ONE WEEK before my actual exams I was able to jump up 3 grades and achieved an 8 in my real GCSE!!

The Light Up Hub was amazing with in-depth analysis, structure, context and much more. I was originally stuck on a grade 5 but ended up with a high 7 (2 marks off an 8)!! Better than any in-person tutor

Joined the light up hub just 4 weeks before my final exams at grade 6s and 7s in English. Managed to achieve an 8 in Language and a 9 in literature. Not only did I achieve a 9 but I also achieved full marks thanks to the help with structuring essays and analysing in depth.

My only regret is not starting to use the Lightup Hub earlier. I was stuck on 7s for a year and was able to raise my grades. The no nonesense teaching style is so refreshing and unique. If you are unsure on what website to use for revision, trust me, pick THIS one.

I started using the light up hub around the beginning of y11 and honestly, that was the best thing I’ve done for my English grades! My start grades were 6s in both literature and language, but have ended up with an 8 in literature and a 7 in language! All thanks to the light up hub I managed to secure these amazing grades, opening up many opportunities for me at my new sixth form!

The videos are useful, however the tasks and activities aren’t very well made and are extremely boring, the price for just 2 subjects (may not even have your book for literature) is absolutely extortionate! I recommend trying the free options and if you feel like they were engaging enough that you could watch more try it out, if not don’t convince yourself into it! Also pro tip is just to go on the lightup hub youtube channel and tiktok page as they upload almost all the content on the website for free the only thing you don’t get is the useless, potentially ai generated active recal tasks which make no sense.

In year 10, I was almost certain english was a subject I would never excel in despite how hard I tried, I always saw myself as a science/maths heavy student, until my friends convinced me to try light up hub. At first the initial price was not convincing, but nontheless I paid for an account and at the first year 11 mock I received an 8 for literature and an 8 for language for the first time. I was over the moon. In my second mock I received a 9 and an 8 in englishes. Finally, yesterday I saw that for the first time I received a 9 in english literature and an 8 in english language(I am 3 marks away from a 9 so will remark, however the section i used lightuphub for eg the last minute tuition lesson she gave us, I received 37/40, despite almost staying up all night with stress as I had thought I had not revised enough). So to any parent looking for a resource, I would recommend not taking up any tutors, but invest in this amazing website, it can and will take you places you never dreamed of being in.

I was very impressed when my mum signed me up to this a few months before exams started but it was what got me a grade or two higher in my exams so very thankful

I joined the light up hub as a year 10 at the beginning of the school year. Our school
sits English Literature a year early meaning we had to take 2 mocks and then the real GCSE in May- I was working at a grade 6-7 in my mocks but at the very beginning i was just wanting a pass. After using this app throughout my months building up to the real GCSE i ended up coming out with FULL MARKS on both papers- Grade 9. I can’t thank this app enough!!!

It simplified my revision and made it more organised and clear. It helped me with quotes and analysis and tailored to my needs. It is very worth it!

When I began using the light up hub I was stuck at a 5 in both literature and language, my actual results went up to an 8 in language getting 92/96 on paper 2 and 33 marks on paper 1 and a 7 in literature being only one mark off an 8. The light up hub offers a range of amazing services including thorough analysis of quotes and offering different interpretations, fabulous vocabulary , and a range of grade 9 techniques. Overall, my experience was fantastic and would highly recommend to any gcse English student!

Good analysis, clear layout. When I felt like I didn’t know how to improve my grades in English, this gave me all the help I needed.

English is my third language. After I moved here from Ukraine, it has been my biggest struggle at school. I was getting 4s for the last years and after using free resources on Lightuphub I achieved 8s in both of my GCSE exams!!! xx

Started my GCSE’s getting 7s and the occasional 8 in English lit and lang but never really understood what English literature gcse wanted from me. Joined the lightuphub and not only gained a deep understanding as to how to answer questions in line with gcse mark schemes, but also so many useful annotations and analysis which I could use for my essays. Overall amazing and I got a 9 in both lit and lang and even full marks in lit paper 1!
