The Willoughby Book Club Avis 

I have just received two boxes of books: a crime bundle and a fiction bundle. They have arrived quickly and have been carefully and beautifully packaged. These are perfect gifts for two sets of book loving people. Thank you so much!

I have bought several subscriptions over the past few years for my great-grandchildren's birthday and christmas presents. They have been wonderfully successful and I shall continue to give them subscriptions in the future. I shall also buy Willoughby subscriptions for other Christmas gifts. I can't think of anything better way to give presents that go on and on. PATRICIA ISAACS

I am sad to leave a 2 star review but the person who received the books has only read 1 out of the 6 sent. The books were received in timely fashion, with good comms to let us know when they were on their way. Each book was beautifully presented and pristine. But the person who received them said they started each book but didn't enjoy them at all. Only finished one so it ended up being a waste of money.

Our foster children have been receiving books each month, from school and ourselves. The book club have sent new books out straight away when I have called to explain some books are to difficult for our children because of their disabilities. The service is brilliant and the children look forward to them arriving and have co-ordinated them to come together, regardless them being from us or their different school. Thank you looking towards more new books arriving.

I have loved receiving a book every month. I had my subscription as a gift, and as my first has come to close I have received a another as a gift. I have received a great range of books based on the answers I gave when setting up the subscription, not all are books l would have even looked at had I gone to a shop to buy them. My daughter has just started a children's 3 month subscription and is already well into her first book.
I am so pleased someone thought this would be a good gift as the were correct.

It is a pleasure to give a five star review. My subscription was a gift from my family and it was like having a present from them every few weeks. Each book I have truly enjoyed, some more than others, but they were obviously carefully curated to match my very fussy reading interests and I appreciate that. Like some others, I was rather surprised to see the prices appear when I first logged in, but even so I do not know what my family paid. And they know it was worth it anyway. Many thanks

I bought this for our grandson’s 1st birthday. Lovely selection, good to see him open the book every month. Just sad it has come to an end. Well done. Thank you.

Very disappointing - essentially paid about £45 for a 3 month subscription. The three books sent could be bought on Amazon for prices ranging from £3 to £6. The curation appears to be a questionnaire the recipient fills in - to access this the recipient sees the cost of the gift. Seems to me as if get sent the cheapest books available that are collecting dust in a warehouse somewhere so appears a rip off. After receiving the first book ‘ The Winker’ - worth looking up - gives an idea of the calibre of books sent - I sent an email via Not On The Highstreet as this is where the ‘gift’ was purchased. I have never received a reply to this email. I would therefore not purchase from this company again - indeed after the initial embarrassment, it became a standing joke and caused bemusement wondering how bad the next book was going to be.

Disappointing. The sales blurb indicated that books would be tailored to the child’s interests and on that basis I subscribed. Instead of a focus on STEM, as specified by me, my grandson was sent fiction (such as Aesop). I wasn’t impressed either by the poor quality workbook that he received.

I treat myself to a book subscription the books chosen are brilliant I always look forward to what has been chosen for me some if the books I would never normally read and it has opened up new author to try in the future well worth the money

I bought a year's subscription for my partner's 40th birthday as he is notoriously difficult to buy for. I was slightly apprehensive as although he loves reading (and gets through a lot of books!!) he can be quite fussy when it comes to genre. I can happily say that every single book that Willoughby chose were utterly spot on - he has read every one of them with relish, despite some not being ones he would have chosen himself. Each book was completely different and ones he'd not already read (which can be a challenge in itself) and he honestly looked forward to receiving a new one each month. I would 100% recommend Willoughby to both seasoned readers and more reluctant ones - there is definitely something for everybody.

My son bought me a year's subscription and it was the best present! It has been such a pleasure to receive a book through the letterbox every month for the last year. It has been a gift every few weeks that's brought great pleasure.
I received one book that I had already read and when I contacted the team to let them know, they immediately sent me a replacement. I let them know the other books I had on my shelf so I got no more duplicates. That gave them an idea of my taste and they used it to help choose great books. The Willoughby selectors have been outstanding, choosing a range of books of great quality and variety. I've been so excited each month to see what they have chosen for me, based on what I like to read. They have introduced me to a variety of authors, genres and styles. It has been a great experience. I would really recommend it. My last book has just arrived.

I was gifted a 12 month subscription for my 50th birthday. I was excited to see what my monthly book delivery would be and I was never disappointed. Not going to lie, I haven’t quite made my way through them all yet, I was a bit of a spender during lockdown and have an awful lot of books “to be read”. But they all look a good read.
I was given the option to choose the genre I received which is also a good idea, my friend didn’t want to choose for me

I was bought a subscription as a birthday present and I must say it was one of the best I've had. The books I've received have all been really good with writers I didn't know. I found this very interesting and the books have all been really good. It's nice to read different authors. I would definitely recommend a subscription either for yourself or as a present.

I found Willoughby Book Club by accident while looking for a suitable present for my partner on Google. The subscription I purchased for them has been a total success, in my partner's words "the best present I could have given" - consequently I've renewed for a further year. Well done and thank you Willoughby for coming up with such a great idea and providing a wonderful service.

excellent service. all books sent matched my 'likes' 3 were 5 star, 6, 4 star and 3, 2 star. I think this is very good bearing mind how different peoples tastes are. The subscription made a great present

I’ve bought subscriptions for my grandsons for a number of years now - they all love the books and the whole business of them arriving every month! Thanks for a great service .

This was a perfect gift to myself. I've been a subscriber for a year now and I've found some great authors and books that I probably would not have discovered myself. Two books were just ok, but there have been many that have become favourites.
I've had such a mix of genres & characters including a fun South Korean assassin, a very realistic post WWIII dystopian racial novel, a haunting colonial sci-fi spy, classic crime thrillers, curious circus people & mermaids and a Victorian-style gothic mystery. My MIL has also enjoyed many of these.
For those who have said that this is not a curated service or that the selections are poor, I can only assume that you did not provide enough information as to your reading preferences or have very specific reading tastes.
I've just renewed for another 6 months.

I’ve loved reading every book that has been sent during this last year. I’ve discovered new authors , and bought other books by several of them.
Every month has brought a new treat.
I couldn’t have made better choices myself.

Loved my first book , and its quite exciting received the next book , even though I'm 76 !! It was a really good read too , now excited for the third one !
