Customer Service 101

I purchased the Apex 3.0 backpack in January 2025 and recently noticed some issues with the external fabric. I raised this with May in customer service one evening and less than 1½ hours later, the matter was resolved, with a replacement product on order under warranty.

I always judge a company, not by the issue itself, but how they deal with problems and I could not recommend Troubadour highly enough in this regard.

I liked the bag but the customer…

I liked the bag but the customer service wasn't good. i asked to change the color of the bag literally hours after the order was made, and days before it was processed. while i was discussing with them the new color options, i get a notice that the bag was shipped. i never heard from customer service again.

I completely understand how disappointing it feels when you try to make a quick adjustment shortly after ordering and it doesn’t go the way you expect.

We did communicate that item changes cannot be guaranteed once an order is placed, especially during peak season when our warehouse moves very quickly. That said, the experience could have been much smoother if our team had offered to cancel your order immediately to prevent it from processing. This would have avoided the confusion and frustration you encountered.

We never want you to feel ignored or left hanging. You deserved clearer guidance and a more joined-up experience, and I’m genuinely sorry for the inconvenience this caused.

Extremely practical, easy to work with the team

I needed a new backpack to replace my old Carhartt bag and wanted something customizable with our company logo for year-end employee gifts. This bag is impressively durable yet light, and customizing it with the team was a pleasure. Really good for short 2-days trips too, this was more spacious than expected as a laptop bag.

I was attracted by this innovative…

I was attracted by this innovative backpack company with interesting designs. I recommended my backpack to friends who admired it. But within a couple of months the strap started disintegrating. The company promise repair, but the customer service has been awful. Very unresponsive and extraordinarily slow. I was about to buy a smaller version for myself but I would strongly recommend against it.

I purchased the Troubadour Ember Backpack when I started a job that required frequent cross-city travel. Beautifully made products and exceptional customer service

I recently bought an Apex Compact Backpack, a sling bag, and a buddy case, and the quality of all the products is exceptional. I use my backpack daily and am consistently impressed by how lightweight it feels, even with my laptop, keyboard, additional accessories, phone, hairbrush, and a water bottle. I walk about a mile every day with it, and it's wonderfully comfortable.
I was also incredibly impressed with Troubadour's customer support. When one of my orders went missing, their team handled the situation with speed and professionalism, providing frequent, clear communication and a quick resolution every step of the way.

A company that stands behind their products

Me and my wife both bought Troubadour backpacks last year. I use the backpack everyday primarily in the office and for the occasional business trip. Everything has been great except for the handle, which started to delaminate after a few months. We reached out to Troubadour which were super helpful and decided to replace the backpack with a new one. And all of that happened in 1-2 days. Great customer service!

Apex Backpack 3.0

The first impression was great—sleek design, nice appearance, and high-quality materials.

My usage pattern is very basic: every day I have a 20-minute subway ride to the office and back home. In my backpack, I usually carry a MacBook, sunglasses, water, and a few other light items—nothing heavy.

After less than a year, the top grab handle tore and began to delaminate on the sides. This not only looks awful and cheap but also makes it uncomfortable to use.

Since the company promises free shipping for repairs during the first year, I contacted support, hoping they could fix it. They replied that this issue doesn’t affect the backpack’s functionality and offered me nothing.

After another six months, the handle looks even worse. I can't afford to use damaged items, so I now need a new backpack. It definitely won’t be from Troubadour.

UPD: company’s representative contacted me recently offering a replacement; yesterday I received a new backpack with completely reworked grad handle. The new implementation looks much more robust and solid than the older version. I just can’t imagine how this new grab could get damaged:) Given how responsive the team was and a new grab handle construction, I am glad to change the rating to 5 stars

Another satisfying Troubadour puchase

I recently purchased a Daytripper Carry All duffle bag from Troubadour because the briefcase and laptop slip case that I had previously purchased from them still look new after five years of use! Just like my other two Troubadour goods, the duffle is incredibly stylish in its' minimalist design. It quietly tells a story of great construction and attention to detail with its' oversize, easy to open and close main zipper and its' discrete stitching; that somehow makes the seams of the bag more attractive to the eye. It fits all of the things that I wish to bring with me on a daily basis and is ready for any change in the weather. And lastly, with a five-year guarantee on this bag, I know that I am covered. Excellent Backpack and Service!

I have been using a Troubadour Apex 3.0 since 2023, and my current version since October of 2024. The first one was great, but the foam padding underneath the top handle was falling apart. Troubadour's customer service was excellent; I sent photos of the issue, and a new one was quickly on the way with instructions of how to easily return the faulty backpack. I get compliments on the backpack regularly; it's the perfect mix of functional and professional.

Apex Backpack, Briefcase and Buddy Case.

I initially purchased the Apex Backpack in the London store back in November 2022. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The product was great and suited my needs perfectly. In November 2024 I then purchased the Apex Briefcase in the London store. I had the same great customer experience. The product on this occasion had a fault with the stitching in a very small area and I took it back in person a few days later and there was a no quibble exchange for a new briefcase and I've not had any issues with it since. In December 2024 I was given the Buddy Case 2.0 as a Christmas present which held and transported all of my tech perfectly in a compact case. I finally purchased the Embark Compact Duffle from Thomas Pink in January 2025, a collaboration with Troubadour. The bag is a great addition to my collection and it's a great companion for a weekend away holding all the things I need. I'd recommend their products as they are of a high quality and built to last. The in person experience cannot be faulted. I look forward to their new product ranges in the future!

Waste of Money - Buy Trusted Brands

In August 2023 I purchased a Pioneer backpack from Trobadour. This backpack has been a disappointment. Its capacity is minimum, clearly not made for city professionals who carry more than a laptop. And the quality is just the worse. After using it for half a year, and only once a week, one of the handles is already worn down and looks old and used. Overall an overpriced and unpractical backpack. I have just purchased another backpack, this time from a trusted “all time” brand. Don’t waste your money on this brand.

Speedy response and impeccable service

I wrote in to ask for exchange of a damaged bag strap and got a response in less than 24 hours. The replacement was sent out almost immediately after the reply and I received the delivery in less than a week's time.
I think the Troubadour team has set a perfect example as to what customer service should be like.
It was a wonderful experience and I'd confidently recommend the brand to people around me.
