Spammed by car dealers for weeks

I put my info into truecar and received a list of cars. I bought a different car. Over the next week I got unceasing calles, texts and emails from car dealers in a 100 mile region around me. I couldn't get them to stop.

Should be called “FakeCar”! I was in LA and found an incredibly cheap car through the website. The gave me the address so I could swing by the lot before my appointment the following morning. The car wasn’t there, so the next morning I tried to get them to confirm the car I was coming to see. Just before my appointment, the link was gone and they wouldn’t confirm or deny that the car was there until well after my appointment time-which I canceled. Total bait and switch. Don’t waste your time!!

I specifically choose TrueCar to avoid…avoid dealers

I specifically choose TrueCar to avoid the hassle of dealing with car salespeople. It is not an online only service, they basically forward you contact information to dealers.

I am still receiving texts, emails, and phone calls from dealers even though i bought a car directly on my own.

Use TrueCar, get spam for months. I highly recommend they add a opt out that is passed to all dealers… most annoying experience ever!

Don't trust what it says

I am currently looking for a new car and found this site on Google. It has a great tool to search for and find the car you want, but there is one fatal flaw. It does not keep up to date with inventory. I have looked up 5 different cars at 3 different dealerships. NONE of the cars were at the dealership when I went there. Not only that, they could not find where the cars might be or if they were sold, etc. So, I wasted hours and hours of my life on this useless website and am back to square one. I will have to go in and endure a salesperson, which is probably what they want anyway.

Aggressive sales tactics

I was looking for a car I found I was interested in at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet. I was contact by 3 different sales people. I text them back and let them know that I was still looking and would contact them when I was ready. The text continued and I got a couple of calls. Today I got a call at work. I don't want to deal with them at all. I will be looking elsewhere. Don't like their sales tactics. Thanks

Deceptive advertising

I think the practice of deducting the $4000 tax credit from the advertised price in order to get a "Great Price" rating is highly deceptive. How can you trust a dealer with the rest of the deal if they don't even advertise the real price?

BEWARE

BEWARE! Unable to navigate site and see listings without providing your contact information which is then automatically sent out to the dealerships without any clear disclosure. The site doesn’t clearly convey this is their process which is a huge red flag. Also once you provide an email, they don’t allow you to update it. The box is grayed out but you can update the other fields. Whole thing just feels grimy and shady. Not worth it. Now I have to deal with all these dealerships contacting me. I’m thinking of contacting the appropriate government agency and reporting them. There should be clear and concise disclosure of how their website functions before people are providing their contact information. I don’t need dealerships contacting me. I’d like to just see the listings without having to provide my contact information.

Untrustworthy and inaccurate information website is awful

TrueCar's website is awful. The search engine is literally the worst I have ever used. I filtered used car search to 75 miles from my zip code. The first two pages are obviously page ads showing cars that were over 500 miles away. I could pay $600-$800 to ship these cars. Typical salesman crap, I am looking for a "cash car" for my son so my budget is $5,000 to $10,000. These clowns are showing me cars 500 miles away, in the price range, but add $600 shipping to it and it exceeds my budget. Also, DO NOT and I repeat, DO NOT get a quote on selling your vehicle on this site. I put in my vehicle's info on Kelly Blue Book and got a result of $1,835 by selling my vehicle to a dealer. This is good information and seems consistent with the research I have been seeing for cash cars. I put in the SAME information, same box questions and answer selections. These clowns gave a quote of.....ready.....$145!! LMAO.

If you are a fan of shady business…

If you are a fan of shady business practices and bait & switch sales techniques, then CarTeamUSA.com is the dealership for you. After agreeing to purchase one of mike's "flawless" used vehicles, he congratulated me via email on my taste in automobiles, then abruptly informed me that there had been a "price adjustment." Upon revisiting my car's listing on Truecar, I discovered that Saint mike had raised the price of my vehicle by over $4000. He also informed me that the Truecar offer sheet I had negotiated earlier that day was now no good. Funny, the offer sheet from Truecar said that the price was good for two more days. Who can you trust? Neither Truecar nor mike, apparently. Bottom line, DO NOT do business with mike and CarTeamUSA.com. So disappointed with this negative experience. If it were possible to give mike's dealership less than one star, I would do so without hesitation.

A waste of time

When I used TrueCar years ago it was a nice way to shop for a car now they company is a partner with the dealers. I was told my phone number would not be given out. They gave it to the dealers. No one dealer provided a quote. They offered to let me set up a time to come into their dealership. If that is what I wanted I would have just drove there,

Bait & switch on price

While I'm sure experiences with selling a car using this platform varies greatly depending on the dealer, my experience was a textbook case of bait & switch. I entered my car information accurately and was provided a quote of $3575 for my vehicle. The next day I took it to the dealership. They drove it around the lot, opened the hood and then told me it was only worth $1000. I asked why it was now worth just a fraction of what was offered online and they said my front brakes were bad and the engine was leaking oil. Neither of which was true. Interestingly, this dealership was part of the same dealership network that serviced my car the past 10 years. My car's last inspection by my dealer's service team was only a few hundred miles ago by my regular dealership and clearly showed my front brakes were in the green (in the green/yellow/red rating system.) As soon as I left there, I took it to another dealership who looked it over, said it was in excellent mechanical condition for it's age (which I knew because I do all maintenance timely) and gave me $3025. I even mentioned the other dealership saying the car was leaking oil and the front brakes were bad and they gave me a confused look and said what made them say that??? So - beware people, some dealerships on here are likely honest and some just quote you what looks like a fair price for your vehicle and then make stuff up to not honor that price. Really disgusted and there should be a way to report dealerships who do this so they can be removed from the platform. In my case, I knew enough about my car to know they were giving me a line of BS, but not everyone knows that much about their car's mechanical condition to realize someone is telling you something that is wrong.

Don't waste your time with them

Don't waste your time with them. They give you a quote, the dealership won't honor it (Madera Ford). Then when you bring the issue to Truecar's attention, they back the dealer. Boycott them.

They discussed and came to an agreement…

They discussed and came to an agreement to purchase a 2013 Kia Sportage for £6,500 with my partner, and they documented this in writing. After confirming that the car was still available, they went change the agreement and will take £8,000, and the seller would not accept £6,500 in cash.

I used TrueCar/Military and found it…

I used TrueCar/Military and found it worthless. Prices are fake and dealers do not honor Dealer Summary you receive from TrueCar. Prices are thousands more then quoted. The Truecar model where dealers pay Truecar should say it all . Don't waste your time with this useless company. Do your own research. TrueCar nothing but a way for dealers to bring you in with low ball fake prices.

Got approved and my credit checked but the car wasn't even available

Went through the buying process and everything got approved, got my credit inquiry and the next day I got a call from the dealership letting me know they no longer where working with True Car but I could get it from them If I fly 1600 miles to get it myself and get another hard inquiry, No help from TrueCar to find another car or find options all they said was to have my credit checked for another car if interested so no thank you.
