Spammers and scammers
I got an email from this company saying that my business website 'has been blacklisted' and 'fails to comply with UK equality laws'. Both of these are untrue.
There is NO such thing as an 'accessibility blacklist'! Your site CANNOT be 'blacklisted' and then 'whitelisted' as their email claimed.
In the UK, most websites and their accessibility falls under the Equality Act 2010. There's also the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018, which covers government site, even down to things like Parish councils.
Many countries around the places world have accessibility legislation. This is a good thing! It's important to have accessible sites. Paying scammers like this to 'fix your site' is not the way to do it.
I'm a web developer, and it's my job to know about these things. My website is VERY accessible.
This is a scam to try and get you to buy their accessibility widget. These are A BAD IDEA and generally do not actually solve . It's much better to actually make accessible sites in the first place.
These scammers are using scare tactics to try and get business. No reputable company that know about web accessibility (like me!) would use scary looking cold call emails like this to get business.
