I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator…
I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator from Best Buy, and after only a few months, it started having problems. Flamingo Appliance Service, Whirlpool’s contracted repair company, diagnosed a bad compressor.
Since then, I have scheduled seven repair appointments, and the refrigerator still has not been repaired. Each time, they cancel because of missing parts or technician availability. The last cancellation was only minutes before the scheduled appointment.
Communication with Flamingo is extremely poor, and it is almost impossible to speak directly with someone. Whirlpool has also failed to provide an effective solution.
Based on my experience, I would not purchase another Whirlpool appliance, and I would not recommend Flamingo Appliance Service. Very disappointing and unprofessional service.
Do not buy their brands!!!
I have purchased 5 Whirlpool built products and all but 1 have failed within using them for under 2 years. This company makes an active attempt at creating products that fail right outside of their warranty period. The 3 Whirlpool brands that I have used that have failed have been Whirlpool themselves, Maytag, and KitchenAid. I cannot more strongly advise in purchasing a different brand. It is astounding that they are allowed to operate in such a manner and remain in business. The only solution that they can offer for $5,000 of failed appliances? "Here is a phone number to our service team," so we can rob you blind of more of your money.
Order the part For a whirlpool…
Order the part For a whirlpool appliance. The part cost approximately twenty five dollars. When the purchase was received, the box was severely damaged. We never opened it and went to return it. The return cost over forty dollars. So not only did I lose twenty dollars in a park, I lost another forty, because whirlpool would not recognize the return or the payment for the return. I don't recommend any whirlpool appliances or attempting to get parts from these people. Ripoffs
Broken New Fridge, Worthless Service Techs
Bought a brand new fridge that broke down within a few weeks. We spent the next month going back and forth between service visits, trying to order backordered parts. The first fix didn't take, in fact it made it worse. Second solution was a part on indefinite backorder. They finally agreed to replace my fridge, but the replacement was ALSO damaged and had to be reordered. Who knows what happened to Whirlpool but I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. Going on nearly 2 months without a working fridge.
I bought a refrigerator in June
I bought a refrigerator in June, so 3 months ago and it went out lost all my food. Schedule to have somebody to come out and fix it. I had to wait a week and ended up starting to work so I canceled. It happened again Friday somebody came out Monday, by then It was working again. He told me there was nothing he could do because it was working, so therefore, he cannot find out what was wrong with it. When I called whirlpool, they told me there’s nothing they can do. I would have to wait for it to happen again therefore lose more food waste more time and money. How asinine does that sound? Clearly the refrigerator I bought is a lemon! I strongly suggest do not buy any of their products because they suck as does customer service!
Whirlpool sent me a notice to sign up for an extended warranty…
Whirlpool sent me a notice to sign up for an extended warranty for our washing machine, issue is the cost on a yearly basis is greater than the average cost to repair a washing machine. They want $ 14.99 a month yet there are other reputable extended warranty companies for significantly less at $ 9.99 a month. Now if I wanted to protect my washer, dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher, oven/range/cooktop, built-in microwave and garbage disposal—along with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, water heater and other systems cost with Choice Home Warranty would be approximately $ 57.50 per month. Don't even think about signing with Whirlpool, shame on them.
Built in microwave, is NOT even 2 years old
My wife and I purchased our home less than 2 years ago, it was a brand new build with brand new appliances installed. We have been having issues with our microwave making a loud popping sound, and it blew out the power to the microwave this morning. Of course it is out of warranty, but it seems as though the manufacturer are making less quality products but charging as of they are quality. After 2 years we should not be having a defective product. Then when calling the manufacturer all they say is it is out of warranty but they can send a tech out but would we would have to pay. Horrible and they need to make their products much better because less than 2 years old and its already bad🧐
A stupid purchased Whirlpool…
I stupidly purchased several Whirlpool appliances this time around, genuinely believing I was buying quality. Well, lesson learned: stay away from this company. Their incompetence seems to reach every possible level.
I paid over $3,000 for what was presented as a state-of-the-art oven combo. It broke down less than eight months after purchase. Eight months. For a $3,000+ appliance.
To add insult to injury, Whirlpool limits warranty repairs to its “accredited” service network, so you are essentially trapped in their system. It has now been almost a month, and I am STILL waiting for a spare part FROM THE MANUFACTURER to repair an almost-new appliance.
Their customer service is a complete joke. Phone calls involve 30+ minute waits only to reach an army of poorly trained representatives who seem incapable of giving consistent information. At times, I honestly felt I could have asked them the difference between a knob and a stapler and gotten transferred to another department.
And where exactly are the responsible parties in all of this? Where is Human Resources when it comes to hiring and training people who are supposed to represent a major corporation? Where are the managers supervising this circus? And where are the executives while customers spend thousands of dollars on their products and then waste hours chasing basic service? Are the top dogs actually paying attention to what is happening inside their company, or are they simply counting how many more appliances need to be sold to hit their next vacation bonus?
And then comes my favorite part: they actually have the nerve to try to sell you an EXTENDED WARRANTY. Seriously? With this level of service? Why on earth would I pay extra to extend the privilege of spending another five hours on the phone, chasing parts and trying to find someone who knows what is going on? No, thank you. The original warranty experience has been more than enough.
Want to email them? Good luck finding an actual email address. Try the chat? Practically useless. I spent half an hour simply trying to register my appliance online, only to be told that the system was “down,” “new,” or whatever excuse happened to be available that day. At this point, I think I have heard them all.
I have wasted approximately FIVE HOURS of my life dealing with Whirlpool, and a month later, nothing has moved.
Ultimately, I have only myself to blame for buying so many Whirlpool appliances at once. It was an expensive mistake — not only in money, but in the ridiculous amount of precious time I have lost trying to get a nearly new, supposedly premium appliance repaired.
If you are considering Whirlpool because you think you are paying for quality and dependable service, learn from my mistake. I certainly did.
⭐️ 1 STAR
⭐️ 1 STAR — Extremely Disappointed
I am extremely disappointed with this Whirlpool stove\. We purchased it BRAND NEW, and within only FIVE DAYS, one of the burners stopped working\. There is absolutely no reason a brand\-new appliance should already need repairs less than a week after purchase\.
To make matters worse, trying to get the stove repaired under warranty has been a complete headache\. Whirlpool sent VA Appliance Repair to service our stove\. Our first appointment was canceled the day of due to a technician emergency\. A second appointment was scheduled for us without even confirming whether the date worked for our family\.
For the second appointment, we were given a 12–3 PM window\. The technician arrived while my husband was on his way home, and even after my husband spoke to him through our doorbell camera and explained that he was right up the street, the technician left instead of waiting a few minutes—despite it still being within our scheduled appointment window\.
So now we have a practically brand\-new Whirlpool stove with a burner that doesn’t work AND we still haven’t been able to get it repaired\.
When you spend money on a brand\-new appliance, you expect it to work for longer than FIVE DAYS, and if something does go wrong, you expect the warranty process to make things easier—not more frustrating\.
Based on both the quality of the stove and the warranty service experience, I would not recommend this purchase\.
Lousy appliances.
I purchased all Whirlpool appliances 6 yrs ago and have had issues with every one except dryer which I rarely use.I won't be recommending this brand to anyone.
My experience
My 86 year old mother spent $2,000 on a new KitchenAid refrigerator from Menards 6 months ago. It quit working. Called Menards and the said to call Whirlpool as it is a warranty issue. Called Whirlpool and told her the whole story. The lady said they could have someone out here the next day. I then got a phone call from their subcontractor Chambers Properties in Bloomington IL... they've told me the soonest they could get to her was next Wednesday.... And entire week later. I told them this was unacceptable so I called Whirlpool again. They passed me on to another department and that girl suggested that my mother buy another new refrigerator and try to sell the old one. Seriously? That was their suggestion to me. Never again will we buy another KitchenAid/ Whirlpool appliance again?. Very disappointed in them as I heard that they were a good appliance but guess what? That is not true. No choice now but to go ahead and hire and pay an appliance repairman since she cannot go another full week without a refrigerator. So mad right now I can't even see straight! I even asked that lady if she could go without a refrigerator for a week.... Guess what she said!
Second whirlpool fridge that failed in…
Second whirlpool fridge that failed in five years or less for ice maker or water feed. They had to repair it less than 6 months after I purchased it and now it leaks water from top panel when you depress water paddle. This was a replacement for a 5 year old that they couldn't fix a broken ice maker after replacing about 8 different parts.
Six month old refrigerator quits
Six month old refrigerator quits, and I have to pay the repairman to fix it. they don't have a repairman in my area at the lake of the ozarks
2 year old dishwasher fail
I bought a brand new home in June 2024 that included Whirlpool appliances. The dishwasher, model #WDF332PAMS failed a month ago at just 2 years old. The machine won’t start, all of the other buttons work but start button is dead. Machine will also run by itself at random times of the day so I’ve had to leave the door slightly open to avoid this. Whirlpool sent a technician out who quoted me $400 to replace the control panel. I declined as I can buy new one for that and after this experience, I will purchase a new one that is NOT a Whirlpool and eventually replace the remaining Whirlpool appliances in my home.
Whirlpool WRX986SIHZ refrigerator is Inferior Quality and fails within 3-4 years
I purchased a Whirlpool WRX986SIHZ in Jan 2021 as an upgrade to my GE that was over 20 years old. I read the reviews, and everything pointed to this being a good product for the money, so we bought it for $2350 even though that seemed crazy for a refrigerator. In July 2025, the ice maker quit working. I had my local repairman look at it, replace a few parts, and that didn't fix the issue, so he offered to refund all of my parts and labor money. His gesture led me to split the L/M costs, as I thought that was fair. We eventually purchased a stand-alone ice maker to take care of our ice needs but then gave the Whirlpool service man a chance to fix it. I observed as he tested it, seemed puzzled, admitted that he didn't understand it, and suggested that we replace the whole ice maker. We replaced it; it didn't work, and the repairman came back to eventually say it must be a wiring problem that wouldn't be worth the fix, so I asked for my old ice maker to be reinstalled and my money refunded since his suggested repair didn't work and he informed me that it didn't work that way. I took the loss, made no complaints, and we continued to use the stand-alone ice maker. In May 2026, the non-freezer compartment stopped cooling, so I called my local repairman. He removed the heavy ice buildup on the defroster, replaced a thermostat, and it worked again. On 8/26/26, my wife informed me that the freezer had failed, as she found all of our frozen goods (including lots of costly meat) had defrosted and felt soft, so we were forced to throw everything away. I called Whirlpool customer support and emailed them to see if they could help me resolve the refrigerator issues, since this unit was obviously a lemon with major components failing within 4-5 years. Their response was, "While we understand your dissatisfaction, we must respectfully decline your request." I understand that things do not last the way they used to last, as the parts are inferior quality, the companies lean toward quantity over quality, and companies do not really care about building a product that will last because service is where the money is at. Still, it shouldn't be that way, and until the people take a stand and demand quality products for fair prices, this is what the future will hold. My only hope in writing this review is to save people from buying severely overpriced Whirlpool products that are inferior in quality, just like mine. I will never purchase, ever consider, or even look at a Whirlpool appliance ever again, and will pass the word around to hopefully prevent others from making the same mistake that I made. The only way Whirlpool can make this right is to contact me, send out a qualified repair person, fix my refrigerator issues as no cost to me, as I already paid for an appliance that should last at least 10-12 years instead of the 4-5 years this one lasted.
The customer service is really bad
The customer service is really bad. They say they will call you back but never do. I would not recommend a purchase from Whirlpool if you need support after the purchase.
Beware
Beware! Whirlpool will sell you a product on their website and deliver it to you and make promises that they will help you service the product if something goes wrong, BUT they do not actually offer service support for all zip codes in the lower 48 states. I purchased a refrigerator 13 months ago and the freezer is not operating efficiently. It is acting like the seal isn't closing properly so the items inside the freezer have a frosty ice crystal coating on them. After talking to 5 different departments at Whirlpool (1 866-698-2538) I was told that they don't even offer maintenance service for my zip code.
This was NOT explained anywhere on the website before purchasing the item and scheduling delivery. Don't get into my predicament. Make sure you find out if your products are covered in their service area before purchasing.
And I would also advise caution about purchasing any whirlpool products since they seem to offer no help once the warranty expires after 12 months starting on the day of delivery.
Do not recommend
I got a washer with a defective part declared by whirlpool. But they won't cover the cost of fixing it because the serial number is out of range. Regardless of the fact that the washer model is a known defect and I am experiencing the same exact problem as those applicable. Customer service just repeats the facts that are not being disputed. Talk about critical thinking. Promotes their appliances as "built to last." I guess their interpretation of longevity is less than 2 years, so they can get more out of you.
⭐ 1/5
⭐ 1/5 — I will never purchase another Whirlpool appliance.
My experience with Whirlpool has been an exhausting, months-long example of how not to handle a customer when something goes wrong.
I purchased a Whirlpool range in July 2024. In June 2026, a gas leak was discovered and the gas company disconnected the appliance for safety. From that point forward, getting Whirlpool and its service providers to resolve the situation became incredibly frustrating.
Whirlpool initially agreed to cover diagnosis, but getting the appliance properly evaluated became difficult because the gas had been disconnected. Eventually, Whirlpool offered a prorated amount toward a replacement.
Unfortunately, the replacement process was just as bad.
Mike’s Appliances was involved with the replacement and installation. I coordinated with the gas company so everything could be completed properly, yet Mike’s would not wait approximately 10 minutes for the gas company to arrive. The replacement range was ultimately installed WITHOUT being converted for propane.
After continued problems, Whirlpool finally agreed to refund the prorated replacement purchase AND refund the original appliance at a prorated amount.
Even then, the ordeal wasn’t over.
I waited approximately THREE WEEKS for the refund check. Now that it has finally arrived, Mike’s Appliances needs to retrieve the range and is once again giving me very short notice for pickup times and expecting me to rearrange my schedule to accommodate them.
At what point does Whirlpool take responsibility for the customer’s time?
I’ve had to deal with a gas-related appliance problem, repeated phone calls, service coordination, a failed replacement process, an improperly prepared replacement appliance, scheduling problems, weeks waiting for reimbursement, and now another inconvenient pickup process.
Appliances can break. That’s not why I’m writing this review.
I’m writing it because of what happened AFTER the appliance failed.
A major manufacturer should be judged by how it treats customers when something goes wrong. Whirlpool eventually provided financial reimbursement, and I will acknowledge that. But getting to that resolution required an unreasonable amount of my time, persistence, and inconvenience—and even after the refund, the process still isn’t finished.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Whirlpool.
I will not purchase another Whirlpool appliance.
I went with Whirlpool for a…
I went with Whirlpool for a refrigerator because they've been in business so many years. We bought French door with a middle drawer and bottom pull out freezer. The ice dispenser is on the door. It's this door where the ice dispenser is located that cannot be fixed. It won't stay open. I open it and it closes real quick due to weight of ice and dispenser. Refrigerator cost over $2000. Others don't do this and why should this happen with this so called reputable company? Yes we had someone come out and check it. They couldn't fix it. We are disappointed. Don't buy this frig if doors staying open is important. You wouldn't know it til ice was formed and frig in use.
