AAMCO Auto Gaithersburg (Emarald Auto)…
AAMCO Auto Gaithersburg (Emarald Auto) if you value your time and money don't waste your time horrible service.. I have a complaint with County about them. One of my issues is they charged an additional $500.fee. for labor that originally said it was a shop fee to install outside parts. Then after I said I didn't want them to do the work they said it's for Labor never said anything about this misc fee. I had to pay an additional $1000 to get my car back and they didn't repair the car. Ridiculous is this the AAMCO way 😳.

My local AAMCO has always been great to me and my cars. Definitely saved me money. Over the years I've been to at least half a dozen locations, and never gotten gouged, so something about their business model is female-client friendly in a way a lot of auto shops aren't, so I appreciate that.

Unethical Practices and Lack of Communication – Avoid AAMCO
I recently had a deeply disappointing experience with AAMCO, Irondale, Alabama, and would not recommend their services to anyone. Here is a summary of my ordeal:
I received an initial quote of $2,597.95 for vehicle repairs and paid $1,300.00 on April 3, 2024. The vehicle was promised to be ready by April 8, 2024. However, after being informed of delays due to staffing issues, my husband and I visited the AAMCO shop, only to find out that my vehicle had been transferred to a Ford dealer without any prior notification.
The sales representative confirmed the transfer and assured us that AAMCO was handling the situation. We were not informed about any additional costs involved with this transfer.
On May 1, 2024, AAMCO called to inform me that my vehicle was ready for pickup, with a new total cost of $4,750.02. After deducting the $1,300 already paid, I was left with a balance of $3,450.00. When I questioned the unauthorized additional work, the sales representative admitted to making the decision without my consent and insisted that he had the right to proceed without notifying me. He further stated that the vehicle would not be released until the balance was paid in full.
This situation caused significant financial strain and highlighted the unethical practices of this AAMCO location.
I strongly advise against using AAMCO for any vehicle repairs. They do not communicate additional charges to clients, and the owner believes he has the right to conduct work without the customer's knowledge or approval. Save yourself the hassle and choose a more reputable service provider.
I FOUND AN HONEST MECHANIC !!!
On 4-29-24 i took my Mercedes to the AAMCO TRANS. at 3620 Inwood Rd. Dallas Tx. and i was expecting a financial NIGHTMARE. To me it seemed my first gear was slow to engage. They checked it out, drove it around found nothing wrong. I asked them to keep it overnight to do a early morning cold drive, they did and found nothing wrong. I could not believe they were HONEST enough to tell me they could not find anything wrong. Most shops would have LIED and taken advantage of the situation. I was so impressed i had my transmission serviced anyway. These guys have my business i am sold.
I went to aamco in Knoxville Tn 104…
I went to aamco in Knoxville Tn 104 stekoia lane. Made an appointment on tuesday They said they do a vehicle courtesy check no cost Transmission was slipping. They said the only way we can tell whats wrong is removing the pan and check contents $825 dollars to do this. Well give you credit when we rebuild the transmission. They said the transmission going to have to be repaired. I asked for a quote. we cant till we determine what parts need replacing. Give me a quote on intalling a rebuilt trans. we cant till we find out what the transmission cost. They had my transmission removed torn apart. Told me it was going to be $6,849 dollars to rebuild in house. I we put a rebuilt transmission in it will be $11,000 dollars. I had to have my truck to do my job so I told them to rebuild it. My bad. I went to pay and pickup my truck. Started writing a check. We cant take a check. ok Pulled out my debit card we cant take a debit card. I said why. Because we think you will stop payment if we except that payment. We only take cash. They locked my truck in their warehouse until I went and got cash. 6 thousand 8 hundred 49 dollars cash. Paid them didn't get home 3 miles away it started slipping again. Went back they drove it said its not slipping. Pulled it in their garage worked on it 45 minutes Told me it was a quart low on fluid. The Transmision is still not right They say there is nothing wrong with it. Stay away from this company.

my experience with AAMCO Transmission
I have taken my car to AAMCO Transmission on Ina Road Tucson, Arizona on several occasion. Oil Changes, Transmission service. A warning light issue. They are much more responsive than the dealer and a lot cheaper than the dealership. Honest
I called this morning to get a quote…
I called this morning to get a quote from AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care in Joplin, MO. A man named Aaron answered the phone. I requested an estimate for an engine replacement and installation. I explained to him that I've had multiple mechanics determine conclusively the cause of the engine failure and what needed to happen to get my car running again. I provided in great detail the history and cause of the malfunction that lead up to the engine failure, the exact components that were damaged, and he insinuated that I didn't know what I'm talking about. I asked him to simply provide or even email me a cost ESTIMATE of an engine rebuild or new engine replacement for a 2007 300 C HEMI 5.7L and what the standard labor hour cost would be. He refused multiple times to give me any information. He refused to give me his last name so I'd know who I'm talking to as well. He kept insisting on me paying to have my car towed there rather than just give me a quoted estimate. I told him I understand additional costs may apply for unforseen circumstances and was okay with that. He refused to convey any kind of pricing transparency! None. He made me feel like he just wanted to make my car a captive of his lot while he went inside the engine compartment so he could tear more stuff up before giving me a quote. He averted any accountability on his word and I would never do business with AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care minus the Care. I asked him to send me an email for the cost of an engine replacement and the labor per hour and he refused to do both. This is the most unethical mechanic shop I have ever encountered and they should be avoided like the plague. I never imagined requesting a simple estimate would uncover such underhanded and dishonest tactics of an auto shop. I asked to speak to his manager. He said "I am the Manager." Had he chosen to escalate the call to another manager, this possibly could have been avoided. They should be ashamed of themselves! I reported them to the Better Business Bureau before this post also. I'm a decorated disabled veteran and I know when someone is being deceptive. DO NOT GO THERE! EVER!
False trouble shooting to get more money
I was told my shifting issues were from a bad ABS module. I specifically asked for transmission to be checked. Was told it was in great condition just needed a new ABS module to fix all the issues. 2 thousand dollars later my vehicle was good for THREE DAYS!!! ABS light came right back on. I went back and was told " The mechanic didn't hook up a ground wire"! Supposedly fixed it. I left and on the way home the light came on again. Because of the holidays and they being so busy I couldnt return until Jan 16. Left the vehicle to be checked again. One hour later Mike calls me to tell me he is sorry but now I need a new transmission. 4 thousand dollars but he would gladly install it free!! I said you assuredme the transmission was great and he went on to tell me "there must have been a electrical issue inside and he documented it like he is supposed to". I said what am I supposed to do now because the vehicle is not safe to drive as it shifts like it is in neutral when the ABS light is on, again. Mike told me to go buy a used transmission and even got a price for one. I told him when I first took my vehicle to him I was not willing to spend thousands on it. He assured me the transmission was great and all my issues would be fixed. What a joke. I wish I had listened to people who told me they are a ripoff
Spent 5300 on a new transmission
Spent 5300 on a new transmission, it still sticks in first gear or reverse, called to have it looked at again and nothing, location then closed, still under warranty for 12 months, brought it to another shop, they have had it a month an d no updates every time I call it's ill call you back in a few minutes and they never do, call corporate is useless you can't get in touch with live customer service and no one ever returns your emails or voice mails, do not go to aamco

I pay $6000.00 to have a transmission replaced after 6 months the transmission went bad i took the back on November 25 2023 its now december 20th I still don't have my car back they are rude and unprofessional the worst company to deal with. they located on 4907 N UNIVERSITY DR LAUDERHILL FL 33351
This is absolutely the worst company in…
This is absolutely the worst company in the world to go to for repairs!!
They had me agree to pay for the diagnostic fee which is fine. They took a week to do that (supposedly). Then they told me it would be between $4200 and $4900 for a rebuilt transmission. With a $1500 deposit.
After 3 weeks of telling me about supply chain and staffing issues I decided to go get my car.
My car was the exact same way it was when I dropped it off. Not sure what diagnostics were performed that led them to their conclusion.
I'm OK with them keeping the diagnostic money but they flat out refuse to refund my $1500 deposit and after almost a month did nothing. (I paid $1500 for them to hold my truck hostage).
If you are unfortunate enough to have dealt with this shisety company, just know that their corporate support is e even worse.
My AAMCO in Vineland needs a new front…
My AAMCO in Vineland needs a new front office. They never call back. My car has been at the Vineland Nj facility early September and it’s now early November. This is warranty work so there’s no issue with money and the repairs where authorized by the insurer in August. The said 3 weeks from the time I dropped it off but that’s obviously not true. They just don’t follow up. When you drive in every car in the lot, about 25 vehicles are covered with dust and every bay has a car in it. If they are so backlogged they should tell the customer. They called me two weeks ago, said it would be ready in a week then I had to call they said the throttle body would not mesh with the computer and they would order another throttle body. This is not the place to have your work done. Consider using any backyard mechanic. How can they “rebuild” a transmission for it to fail 48 hours later then try to “rebuild” it again and it fail trying to mesh with the vehicle.
THANK YOU to RJ at St Marys, GA
I want to say a huge THANK YOU to RJ at the AMMCO Center in St Marys, GA. He was nothing short of always being honest, helpful and accommodating as we worked through the process of replacing my transmission. I highly recommend that everyone who is in need of transmission service visit my friend RJ.
I CARRY MY TRANSMISSION BAD SERVICE…
I CARRY MY TRANSMISSION BAD SERVICE NEVER OPEN IT I had to take her to another workshop
AAMCO and Hector are the worst!
Hector, the service manager, is a liar and scam artist. They did "unauthorized repairs" to my wife's SUV and then lied about it being authorized. They hold your vehicle hostage until they receive payment! Avoid this shady repair shop!
Nightmare with AAMCO
Nightmare with AAMCO
I brought my car in to have my transmission replaced or rebuild. Jo the manager at AAMCO of Manchester told me he was "pretty sure" I did not need one and replaced things that he thought would get my car running when all sign pointed to needing a transmission. Because he is the expert as this is a place that specializes in transmission, I assumed he knew what he was talking about. After getting my car back its still showing the same codes it was showing when I brought my car in and driving the same way. On top of everything Joe and his staff never test drove or even let the car run long enough to know if they items replaced was going to make my car drive and not give the same issue I had when I brought the car in. Joe took advantage of a female who knows nothing about cars and charge me $1630.98 in labor for Strut Assembly to the front of my car which had nothing to do with my transmission and was never told it had nothing to do with the transmission. Now Joe is trying to get another $3000.00 dollars out of me to replace my transmission which should have been done the first time . This has and still is a total nightmare.
Poor inspection and inaccurate results.
Poor inspection and inaccurate results.
Got a transmission rebuilt costing $3000, with a warranty.
On a trip 1 month later, with about 500 miles on the rebuilt transmission, it broke. Stopped into another AAMCO and they denied me service - which goes against their contract. Left us stranded on the side of the road for 5 days, including on my birthday. Had to pay another $5000 for a brand new transmission from another place.
I went to a AAMCO meccanic as another…
I went to a AAMCO meccanic as another meccanic told me that my Ford escape 2014 needed a transmission work done. So I went to this AAMCO dealer that publicizes transmission repairs. Brought my vehicle there and after a test drive by a meccanic who says it's not a transmission problem but it's because of the tires that are worn out on the inside layer and the struts and bearings. I figured that's good news as it would cost much less than a transmission rebuild.
This AAMCO place had a few good reviews on there website but as we all knnow the can all be fixed to suite any business but it looked like they were competent and convincing. I said ok lets do it, he says what kind of tires do you want, I said the best you can give me for the best price. So I trusted this guy to do a good job and a fair price. I left the car to come back the next day. To my surprise i get a bill for $3500.00 which of course I wasn't expecting at all. I paid with a c/c card and left with a very sour taste in my mouth. I stopped shortly after to check the invoice where I saw a charge for $793.00 for 4 tires and $150.00 for labor. I thought it was a mistake so I went back to advise of the mistake, they said no mistake that is the price. I had looked up these tires that they sold me and Amazon was selling them for $264.00 for all 4 tires that's why I went back to see what mistake was made. The owner through a fit he felt offended, he said you accepted this cost I have it on camera (not true) and he started cursing and yelling at me. at that point I left and told him they would be hearing from me soon, after 20 min. they called me to go back so they could show me how much they paid for the tires, I did not go as they should pay much less than me for tires, there is no excuse. There is an overcharge of roughly $ 1900.00.
Fantastic service
Fantastic service! We were from out of state and had issues with our transmission - spoke to Tyler in Charlottesville Virginia (Emmett Street) he quickly diagnosed the problem and got us back on the road. Tyler was very courteous and professional. I would highly recommend the Emmett St., Charlottesville Virginia Amoco for any transmission needs.
