Albatross Cars Avis 

I've been using Albatross for a number of years for transfers to/from the local airports and generally had no issues. However, last weekend I booked one of their taxi's to take my wife and I for a special birthday meal with our young dog ... I put a note on the booking stating clearly we had the dog with us. On the day the first 2 of their taxis allocated to the job called off picking us up (I assume because of the dog, as I texted the drivers to remind them we had the dog). This meant we were going to be very late for our table booking and, when I called them to find out what was going on, the pathetic excuses they used to state why those taxis would not pick us up were ridiculous. Just admit the bleeding obvious! The next taxi they offered was going to be another 15 to 20 minutes later .... so I cancelled the taxi and drove to the special event myself, which was far from ideal and it really upset my family! I am exceptionally unhappy with the service, their inability to read their own notes .... and I won't be using them again.

Booked a wheelchair accessible taxi on their website for Sunday 27th at 1:30, got given a booking code and all was great, however 20 minutes before the taxi was due to arrive I took a phone call to say they hadn’t got a car, not the best when you have a table booked at a very busy restaurant and we had paid a deposit
Was told by the rather rude arrogant call taker that I hadn’t booked a car, and that was just a provisional booking and I should have phoned beforehand to confirm
Basically told if you need a wheelchair taxi, don’t bother trying to get one at a weekend

Just used Albatross Cars to collect us from home in Chellaston and take us to East Midlands Airport and for a return journey to home a week later. The drivers were on time, courteous and friendly. On being met for return journey at East Midlands Airport we were both handed a free bottle of water, a very nice touch. Woule not use anyone else.

A big Thanks to the driver on the X80 today as he very good and very friendly and he has done amazing to get me to and from Alton Towers and he has done an amazing job

I will never leave Albatross. The most amazing company ever making sure my parents my daughter with disabilities and when I get some ME time, make sure I get home safely too. Thank you so much 💕

Man at central control courteous when booking trip to Royal Derby Hospital.
Well presented taxi turned up on time and driver put my Wife's wheelchair in his boot and removed it at hospital with "All part of the service".
Can't thank Albatross and driver enough to ease a stressful visit.

Warning! Don’t believe the quote that they initially give you when ordering from app. I was shocked to see that they had taken two payments ( double what I thought I was charged ) out of my account the following day. I contacted customer service who replied with a standard fobbing off quoting terms and conditions to obviously cover themselves. Who reads those when ordering a taxi? Especially, on a night out. At no point did either Albatross or the taxi driver inform me of this increase on the evening in question. Reading other reviews it appears that I’m not the only who has been mislead in this way.

When booking, you are required to enter your flight number. After entering my Ryanair flight number, their website automatically changed the arrival time to one hour later than the official Ryanair arrival time and set my pickup for 23:20. There was no option to change it manually.

I contacted Albatross Cars before booking and explained the issue. I was assured that the time shown on their website did not matter because the driver would track my flight and arrive according to the actual landing time.

When my flight landed, there was no driver. I had to call the company myself, and only after my call did they send me an email acknowledging that my pickup had been booked for 23:20 and even admitting that this would probably be “too long” for me to wait.

This was exactly the issue I had warned them about before booking, yet they failed to deliver the service they had promised.

Very disappointing experience. This was my first and last time using Albatross Cars.

No problem booking via the app in advance of our trip from Birmingham Airport to Derby. Zabar kept us informed on his location and he was very patient when our luggage was delayed. A very comfortable ride home with a lovely driver.

Always late- even when you prebook. We booked hours in advance ans it was late, called Albatross 20 mins after it should have arrived and they said it would be at least another 15 mins. I don't understand how they can always be so late when you book hours in advance?!?

I’ve had a few occasions to use Albatross Cars recently, all of which have been time critical. Albatross has been on time, every time.

The cars are really clean and the drivers were very helpful, competent drivers and interesting to talk to.

Prices were very reasonable and information, such as tracking the taxi, was very useful and easy to access

Scam alert please be careful when using Albatross taxis. Booked a taxi with Albatross via their app this evening and used their promo code love offering 20% discount. It was a short journey and was quoted £4.80 arrived and my destination and checked my account which was showing 2 payments of £7.80 and 1 of £6.16 . Obviously a little confused so I rang Albatross only to be told that the £4.80 was only a quote and did not include waiting time at roundabouts or traffic lights ??. My return journey I used Uber a lot further journey and was told the journey was £16.90 and surprisingly I was charged £16.90.
Obviously I have deleted my Albatross app and certainly will not be using them again.

was a loyal customer of this company for several years and spent a significant amount of money using their services.
In August 2024, there was a disputed fare of £10.50. Instead of resolving this in a reasonable or proportionate way, the situation was escalated unnecessarily. I was contacted and told the matter would be taken further unless payment was made. To end the situation, I paid more than the original amount requested.
What made this particularly disappointing was the lack of professionalism and basic customer care. A long-standing customer should not be treated this way over such a small, historic amount.
As a single parent, this added unnecessary stress during an already difficult period. The way this was handled permanently changed my view of the company.
I have since stopped using their service entirely and switched to a competitor who offers clearer communication, fairer pricing, and significantly better customer service.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company.

Booked an hour in advance, but no car showed. Phoned to be told we were next....still no car, had to use Uber. Pointless booking.

Still no reply from driver or albatross about the damage caused by driver to my wifes walker. Albatross take these self employed drivers on to work for them and take some of the cash so should also take some of the responsibility for the driver actions. They have the companies name on the side of their cars therefore representing albatross. Maybe the next step is to go down small claims court. Albatross are just not bothered.

I don’t often use Taxis as I drive but I was in need of transport to get me and my family to Gatwick Airport and then back 4 weeks later. I live in Derby so I regularly see Albatross Taxis about but I thought I would do my research and to read a couple of the negative reviews on here I did hesitate. What swayed me were personal recommendations by a couple of work colleagues and no disrespect to Google or Trip Advisor, the personal recommendation carries more weight. So I proceeded to request a quote via their website at about 11:30pm and I was emailed with a quote before midnight so that impressed me. The whole booking process was very smooth from obtaining the quote to making the booking. I did all this via email but there is the option to book via their App or by calling their call centre. As for the trip itself, absolutely faultless, the Driver was there 5 mins before pickup time and waited patiently, he offered to stop at the services if we required and was just a nice friendly chap. Same for the return journey picking us up from Gatwick, our flight was 30 mins early but they had tracked the flight and made sure the Taxi was there waiting for us which was a relief after a 7 hour flight from Dubai.

So for me, I was very impressed with Albatross from start to finish and highly recommend them.

I did not expect a taxi company to pick up and drop off a urine sample from my dads to the doctors, but they did! what an amazing service. i was able to pay remotely too (via text link)
