Better - Energise Leisure Centre Avis 

Dirty classes. Someone should clean after. It is not possible to lay down in dirty floor. There are so many empty rooms in the building. You should use them for different activities, so people can access classes. Do different types of classes like aikido, Tai chi etc.
Even the classes for yoga or pilates are too small. 15 people for these are not enough. Anyway there is room for improvement, and you know better.
Even in the gym there are a lot of treadmills. You can use the space of 3,4 of them to improve the equipment for weights with proper machines for weights.

Increasing membership fees at DOUBLE the rate for me (female) to my husband (male) for exact same level of membership at the same centre. I actually joined before him so have longer loyalty as well! Class timetable just gets poorer with each passing year. Facilities not maintained well enough; it's just not worth the money.

My decision isn't because of financial restraints, it's because you're charging women more than men for the same membership type. It's called discrimination.

Please read the original statement. My husband and I have the same type of membership at the same venue. He is being charged less than me. There's no special discounts for him, he is being charged less than I am for the SAME memory type at the SAME gym. I'm sorry I don't have words of fewer syllables to spell that fact out more clearly for you.

The email just cited things like the war in Ukraine, which we all are very aware of, but it wasn't a specific response to my actual complaint.

I've already cancelled the membership because this centre has been going downhill for years, (holes in the swimming pool ceiling that existed pre-Covid and still haven't been fixed, lockers that don't work etc) - this place was actually better (pun intended) when it was run by York Council years ago. You won't even pay for proper Les Mills licenses.

Would recommend for people focusing on cardio and to start a gym journey but overall unfair for people who cant use weights because some other kid didn’t know what he was doing

Had an induction for the gym with Matt, he was great he noticed how nervous I was and really put me at ease by listening to my concerns and reassuring me. I left with a plan in place and knowing that if I needed any more help the staff would me more than happy to help.

They offer a junior membership yet the times for the gym are so limited it basically means you can never go. This goes with the swimming too, the timetable is so limited the membership is not worth the money.

Needs a lick of paint and some TLC within the building. Main gym doesn't look to bad but rest of gym (pool viewing area) feels a bit dilap.

Junior gym needs to be monitored more closely. My girlfriend and I went last week and there were a lot of young lads just there sat on the equipment not doing anything meaning nobody could get near the machines. A bit frustrating when we work full time, needed to get a workout in, get home, prepare tea, tend to our dog etc. If they're not using equipment, don't use it as a cool down area.

Apart from that, it's still a good place to exercise. Having been a member previously, it's a lot better managed by Better than it was under York Council.
