The manager at better meadway Reading…
The manager at better meadway Reading was not going to allow me into aqua aerobics because I was 1minute after the 10mins extra allowed as I had to come from work and the weather was mega hot he was quite rude to me concerning the 1minute that I was late

Exceptional swimming teachers
I can't speak highly enough of the incredible teaching staff at Meadway. Katie, Linda, and Ludek stand out for their exceptional talent and precision in their teaching methods. They possess a remarkable ability to connect with the children, demonstrating immense patience and dedication that truly brings out the best in each student.
As a parent of 3 children who are fortunate to be taught by them, I have witnessed first hand the joy they experience in their lessons. Each child has not only developed confidence and safety in the water but has also achieved outstanding technique. It's truly rewarding to see the significant progress they make under the guidance of these wonderful instructors.
I am deeply grateful to Katie, Linda, and Ludek for their hard work and commitment. Their passion for teaching deserves the highest praise! As a teacher myself, I often take students to swimming lessons, and I can confidently say that these 3 are truly exceptional!

I used the Meadway leisure centre in…
I used the Meadway leisure centre in Reading but have now cancelled my membership. In the 18 months I was using it, I experienced very young children (as young as 5) being left to play alone on the gym equipment. The pool was more often than not, very cold 🥶, the changing rooms every time was dirty and the toilet disgusting. There was only one decent aqua aerobics teacher who got heavily booked up. One of the others thought it was fun to dive in with the customers during lessons, so very unprofessional. The app was in my opinion worse than trying to get an appointment at the doctors. Spoke to management at centre and also head office frequently, no one was interested in the slightest. No-one every asked me why i cancelled, which says it all.

Friendly and helpful staff. Always greeted with a smile. Clean changing rooms. Tumble dryer for costume. Hair dryers. Well arranged pool and efficient and friendly poolside staff.

Step aerobics
I am new to Better but my favourite classes are step aerobics with Sue. She have a lot positive energy that even when is hard and lots of steps are still new for me I still want to do the class. Thank you Sue for the positivity, your enthusiasm and energy you put into this class.:)

After a not so good experience at one…
After a not so good experience at one of your health centres we went to Meadway Sports Centre in Reading who were so helpful knowledgeable & made us feel so welcome too, along with information on how to change our home centre, which again was smooth & easy to do so thanks to Luke at Meadway for all his help

World needs more Leons!!
Went swimming with my daughter on Friday evening for the first time. Pool was quite busy with a few rowdy teenage lads attempting to spoil everyone's enjoyment but they were stopped by Leon numerous times who was very attentive and made sure my daughter was ok when she was almost kicked in the face by one of the lads. He was mopping the floor when we left and again was super friendly and told us to have a lovely evening. He is a credit to the sports centre keep up the great work Leon!

Dilapidated and dangerous
I've been an on off member here for 12 years. It's the same tired equipment. For the price it's a disgrace and dangerous. A large portion of the kit is damaged or missing pieces. As I write this the smith machine is covered in tape, a bench has been removed as a bolt fell out and the other is on its way out.
It needs investment to justify the cost and to avoid someone getting hurt.

A little frustrating at changeover time
The kids had a great time. The staff were helpful and it was great to have things set up in advance. The only frustration was that we had to wait for the previous party to leave the hall so we could start our party. They were late in leaving which meant our guests had arrived and we all had to awkwardly wait to get into the hall. The staff did not seem to be on hand at this point, coordinating this change over which we felt they could have done to ensure people kept to time. We also felt maybe there should be a 5-10 minute buffer between parties so that this lag did not happen for others.

We had a great party
We had a great party. The staff were very helpful and couldn't have done more to help us on the day. The birthday boy had 'the best time' (his words not mine).

Friendly and supportive staff.
I joined recently. I chose Meadway because I wanted to be able to swim as part of my rehab after surgery. The staff are always friendly and helpful, special shout out to Michael who did my induction and then worked out a plan for me to help get strength and muscle mass back in my knee. His energy was good and he explained it all clearly. I now feel confident in the gym that I’m using the machines properly and I’m actually enjoying it! I haven’t managed a class yet but I plan to book one very soon. Great little centre with everything I need.

Good Experience at Meadway
The centre as a whole is a clean and welcoming environment. Good range of facilities available such as the gym and the swimming pool. Staff are also friendly too.
