Better - St Austell Leisure Centre Avis 

Absolutely fantastic instructors, real genuine people who want to only see you succeed. Fantastic range of classes working all of your muscles or go in the well stocked gym and join others on a pathway the same as yourself. If none of these suits then get in the pool for a dip.

Excellent staff , especially the trainers , always willing to help you.
Lots of classes throughout the week , well worth the membership.

Great staff who always welcome you with friendly smile... Even at 6 in the morning! :) Descent facilities as well and always clean and tidy! Top marks...

The value for money if you use it regularly is amazing based on the benefit for your fitness, social interaction and general wellbeing.

I use the leisure centre regularly and enjoy the facilities they offer. The centre has a welcoming and an enthusiastic team. The staff are always keeping themselves busy and can be seen to keep the facilities clean.
The cafe is also welcoming and offers a wide range of refreshments and seems to be a community hub for members and family.
There are a wide range of classes which are proven to be popular, which means it sometimes can be hard to get into some of the classes, so maybe a few more classes or maybe the option of moving some of the classes into the sports hall and increasing the class sizes, not sure if this would be an option, I appreciate this would require additional equipment.
Otherwise a positive experience.

The Booking system on line is a bit frustrating classes gets booked up quickly and can be difficult to book

Due to classes getting full extra classes are being added.
There is a lot going on craft groups, walking groups games groups in the cafe
A great place to meet new people and make friends

A well equipped gym, friendly staff, a really great mix of classes with excellent instructors make this leisure centre very good value for money. Parking on site at a much reduced cost is a bonus.

I'm plump, a dumpling, a proper pudding.
I have the physique of a Moomin.
However not once has this been a problem to the staff or trainers at Better.
I have been treated with kindness and respect for the fact that I'm making a change to myself.
I have been encouraged and supported and not once made to feel any different to the well-toned beautiful, strong bodies that surround me.
I have never felt more welcome, accepted and invested in than I have here.
Best gym / fitness complex ever.

AVOID. Our booking was cancelled twice in a row (3rd time in total) due to over booking.
The first time we received a generic email out of the blue confirming our booking was cancelled 3 hours before our time slot with no explanation as to why. The second time they waited until we arrived and tried to sign in at reception before informing us that they had once again double booked our slot so we would have to wait an hour if we wanted to use the hall.
I requested a refund as I no longer wished to use a venue that was so badly organised and the receptionist played around with the computer for a few minutes and informed us that she had processed the refund and we would receive our money back in a few days. 2 weeks later I still have no refund so I made another refund request through the contact option on the website and was told that someone would get back to me shortly.

That was 5 weeks ago and still no contact or money. I am unsure whether this centre is intentional trying to keep my money or if they are just incompetent but either way it is disgusting that they feel it ok to not only cancel/overbook slots that have been paid for, lie to customers faces and then ignore my attempts to chase up a refund in the hopes that I just give up and they can keep my money.

We have now found another leisure centre that offers more time for less money and more importantly hasn't cancelled our booking at the last minute.

I advise using Tregorrick Leisure centre instead of this place as it's only 6 minutes away and is actually trustworthy.

The people working there are very nice and professional.
The swimming pool is clean and, thanks to the booking system, it's not very busy

Nice and well run leisure centre in St Austell. The friendly and helpful staff are a credit to the centre and all the equipment is good.

Pleasant, helpful receptionist. Pleasant, patient trainer in the gym.

Great gym, good people. It would be good if there were signs up asking people to put the weights away.
