⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If I could give more stars, I would!

Bournes have been absolutely fantastic from start to finish, and I honestly can’t recommend them highly enough. From the very first phone call, I knew I was in good hands. Julia was the main point of contact and she was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and reassuring, which immediately put me at ease about the whole process. She kept me informed at every step, ensuring I always knew what to expect, which made such a difference in reducing the stress of moving.

The quotation process was smooth and transparent, with a thorough walk-through to assess exactly what was needed. There were no hidden surprises—just clear, professional service from people who genuinely care about their customers.

When moving day arrived, the team turned up on time, full of energy and enthusiasm, despite the terrible weather. Even in the downpour, they maintained a positive attitude, which really helped keep my spirits up! They worked quickly but carefully, making sure everything was handled with precision and respect. Their attention to detail was impeccable, and they took great care to ensure all of my belongings were safely packed and transported.

A huge shoutout to Kit, who was not only highly professional but also incredibly friendly and reassuring throughout the whole process. He is an absolute credit to the company, and his hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed.

Bournes made what is usually one of the most stressful experiences so much easier. Their commitment to excellent service, clear communication, and genuine care for their customers is truly outstanding. I hope I never have to move house again, but if I do, I will 100% be using Bournes!

This is my second time of using Bournes for my move, and although I hope not to keep on needing to move, I'd not hesitate to use Bournes again, and I'd certainly recommend them without reservation.

Professional and Friendly

Bournes helped us with our move within London. Emily, our Move Manager, was always helpful, flexible, and proactively reached out to make sure we were happy throughout the moving process. The guys who moved us on the day were efficient and kind—and got the full move done in a morning. From start to finish, a professional service that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use again myself.

I can not fault the movers especially…

I can not fault the movers especially the two guys that did our move from Aylesbury to Leeds they were very professional and hard working nothing was too much trouble for them I would recommend them anytime

We knew as soon as Bournes’ consultant came round to look at our property and advise us on what we needed, that they were the company for us. He immediately made us feel at ease and that we could rely on them. All the people we spoke to in the office were considerate, understanding and helpful and on the days (we had a 3 day move) the team worked tirelessly, loading all the vans expertly with not only our house contents but also our shed and a lot of garden ornaments, potted trees and plants. They carefully laid down sheeting on the carpets at both properties and although we self-packed, they provided wardrobe boxes, which they packed and they securely wrapped precious/fragile items, which had been listed in the quote. It was very cold during those 3 days and extremely wet on the last day but the team just didn’t stop working - even when hot drinks were provided, their breaks were brief before they went back to work. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. Thank you all.

Beware. Not to be trusted in terms of skill or integrity.

A cursory look at the response shows the Bourne’s attitude. A patronising opening, followed by Bournes saying 'we take great care' etc etc. That is the point in the review. Bournes didn't take care and didn't protect the item which, by the way, was worth £7000. There was no accident here. It was incompetence not accidental damage. They talk about 'our' claim, it is the builders. That is clear from the original review. They say 'the damage can be repaired'. I was present when the repair operative said it couldn't be repaired. Then a patronising end.

It is clear from their response that Bournes know what the job is and the claim referred to. Why then have they now asked Trust Pilot to get information from us to 'verify' the claim and ensure it is genuine? Feels like a ruse. To reiterate Bournes took no care of this item. However, the way their contract is, Bournes don’t need to as they are NOT LIABLE for damage. Bournes expect customers to insure against their lack of care and respect and then when the insurer gets involved the insurer looks to avoid paying the claim and insist on a repair when the repairer has said the item cannot be repaired! Scandalous.

All anyone expects of a removal company is for them to take care of the items in their care. Bournes did not. Bournes then hide behind the contract, insurance policies and industry practices. Bournes have not taken responsibility for their failure and that is shameful. The contrast is with our builder who, having being let down by Bournes, is doing the right thing!

Original review:

Awful company with no integrity. At the request of our builders who had remedial work to do, Bournes emptied a room, stored the items and returned them a few weeks later. One item was a pool table. The table was returned with severe damage. Veneer was chipped off and deep scratches occurred all around the pool table. We were told the item was damaged whilst stored. They had one job, and did it badly. However worse was to follow. They accept no responsibility for doing it badly and referred our builders to the insurance policy. That’s because the ‘small print’ limits their liability. In other words they don’t need to look after peoples belongings. If there is damage, Bournes rely on the insurance policy and the contract if there is no insurance taken out by the customer. However, the insurance company sent their own repairer who said the table was beyond repair. The insurance refused to accept that and said ‘we will repair it and if that’s not good enough you can go to the ombudsman’ to our builder. So to summarise, Bournes take no care, don’t need to because they have egregious small print and the customer can take out insurance. If a problem occurs they wash their hands of it. Then the insurance does everything to resist doing the right thing too. I don’t doubt the positive reviews on here but seems to me with Bournes you need to be lucky. If they don’t damage anything all is well. If they do though, look out, you will regret using them.

At Bournes we take great care in handling our customers' belongings including extensive professional training, and using appropriate materials to minimise risk. While the vast majority of our moves go smoothly, as reflected in most customer reviews, accidents can sometimes happen despite our best efforts. That’s why it’s standard practice in our industry to offer insurance, so that any accidental damage can be made right. This is clearly outlined to all customers before signing their contract and we comply fully in all our business practices with the British Association of Removers code of practice, which is approved by the Trading Standards Institute.

I apologise if there has been any confusion regarding your claim as the team report that we have referred to the Insurance Company whose restoration professionals are confident that the damage can be repaired to a very high standard. They are ready to proceed and have been awaiting your confirmation. The standard process for indemnity insurance is to attempt restoration first wherever viable and if that is not possible to an acceptable level, a financial settlement will be considered.

We are here to support you through the process to ensure a fair and timely resolution. If you would like to discuss this matter further or need assistance in finalising arrangements for the repair as this is the next step, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly. Additionally, as a member of the British Association of Removers, we offer further protection through an Alternative Dispute Resolution Scheme, independently operated by the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman. Highly recommended for top quality removal services

Moving after 30 years in our home was a challenge but Bournes made the moving experience as straightforward and trouble-free as possible. The arrangements for packing and delivery were discussed and agreed with us. The van team arrived dead on time, collected and packed super-efficiently, delivered to our new home dead on time and equally efficiently, and called round a month later to collect the empty cardboard boxes. Highly recommended.

Professional and efficient team

Professional and efficient team. Two separate moves coordinated by Julie and overseen by Dan. Everything went smoothly, all timings were honoured and no breakages. Would recommend Bournes anytime for an excellent service from start to finish.

In our opinion Bournes are an outstanding company

We are extremely satisfied with our experience, Bournes were very professional and friendly. Gabriel "held our hand" with documentation and gave us timely updates of progress. The people who collected and delivered our furniture couldn't have been more helpful.
We would unreservedly recommend Bournes for your removals.

I couldn't have asked for a better pack…

I couldn't have asked for a better pack and removal service and I have was highly impressed with the service that they provided. The team did a perfect job in initially establishing the size of the job and moved us swiftly and without damage to property or possessions. The amount of stress that they took out of the system for us was worth the money alone. The team are friendly and diligent and worked hard to get us in to the new house as soon as possible. I would highly recommend Bourne's as your removal company.

A very mixed service

The initial contact, site visit by Tom and quotations and ability to organise the move out into storage was fine with Kenny co-ordinating.

Things started to go wrong with a very mixed crew for packing and they dismantled a designer high gloss sideboard, but didn't wrap any of the pieces, which they left outside in the car park whilst trying to work out how to load the containers (Not impressed)

The move out from storage was not good and the crew were worse than before with obvious tensions amongst them and two very junior members who needed supervising but didn't get it ((

Now I find they have damaged my sideboard with a drawer smashed so it unusable and designer CD storage ladders (£600) which are damaged. Despite extensive photos and explanation of the designer sideboard which was declared for insurance at £2200 I have received a derisory proposal of £177 for the two items.

Given that the sideboard damage was caused by Bournes unprofessional packing (not protecting the items). I expect a much improved financial proposal otherwise I am off to the BAR

I’m sorry to hear that damage to these items has detracted from an overall positive move. As you can see from the majority of our reviews this is not normally the case and we do work hard with our post-move support to ensure any rare occasions of damage are fairly handled to maintain a positive experience. My understanding is that our Customer Services Manager is in direct correspondence with you regarding your open insurance claim to ensure a fair valuation can be reached based on the Indemnity Policy arranged with our independent Insurers.

Of course, if you are not satisfied with the final valuation offered, we’ll be happy to support you with arbitration through the British Association of Removers. As a professional mover our membership of BAR provides this service just for this purpose, to offer reassurance to our customers that they are fairly represented in case of any dispute.
