Easy to do! So many lovely choices where I get to wear a dress for a lovely occasion at the fraction of the cost I’d spend on buying a dress which isn’t as nice for it to sit gathering dust in my wardrobe after one wear

The app is easy to navigate and the review process is quick however could be improved by offering more delivery options such as inpost locker. I also find that unless you pay to boost posts they don’t get much attention and it’s difficult to get started and find customers.

Very clear and quick and smooth process so far and I love how clear the app is when you wanna sign up and when you also want to sell things and also rent things from other people

I would strongly caution anyone considering renting through By Rotation based on my experience.

I rented a dress through the platform specifically for my wedding, for 16–23 July, and paid £60.95 including postage.

The dress did not arrive in time for my wedding. To make matters worse, I then find out the lender had not paid sufficient postage, delaying arrival - meaning I then had to pay Royal Mail an additional fee myself before the parcel could even be delivered. By the time I eventually received it, I had already returned home from my wedding and had been forced to arrange another dress.

I never wore the dress. I then paid AGAIN to return the completely unworn dress to the lender by tracked postage.

The lender acknowledged in writing that I shouldn’t have to pay for something I didn’t receive on time and explicitly agreed to refund the rental. By Rotation has also confirmed in writing that payment is owed to me, asked for my bank details to make the payment, and told me that the delay is because they have been unable to recover the money from their lender and are pursuing her through their collections process.

Yet here I am, around SIX WEEKS later, with no refund whatsoever.

I have spent weeks chasing this. I’ve supplied tracking information, receipts and everything requested of me. I have repeatedly contacted both the lender and By Rotation. The lender stopped responding and now my recent emails over last few weeks to By Rotation are also going unanswered. In the few replies I have had since the beginning, I was also called the wrong name! So whether that email was even for me I do not know.

I find it completely unacceptable that I am being left out of pocket because By Rotation cannot recover funds from a lender on THEIR platform. Whatever collection issue exists between By Rotation and its lender should not result in a customer waiting indefinitely for a refund that By Rotation has already acknowledged is due.

This isn’t a situation where my refund is being disputed. They have already told me I’m owed it. I simply haven’t been paid.

I’ve now been forced to raise a dispute with my bank to try and recover the original payment.

For a platform that facilitates payments between renters and lenders, my experience of what happens when something goes wrong has been appalling. A failed wedding rental was bad enough. Having to spend the following six weeks chasing an agreed refund, paying additional costs myself and ultimately involving my bank because I’m now being ignored is completely unacceptable.

I gave By Rotation more than enough opportunity to resolve this privately. They haven’t.

Based on how my case has been handled, I absolutely will not recommend trusting this platform with a rental.

The rental itself was wonderful, but byrotation’s help response time was appalling. I rented a dress to try on and then suddenly I needed three reviews in order to rent it (or anything of similar value) again. I’ve queried this twice with no response. Why on earth could I rent to begin with if there was a sudden restriction?!

The app is well maintained, the rival company Hurr has lots of glitches, not user friendly and takes about a week or longer to reply when needing customer support. By Rotation is perfect for everyone and anyone to use, it’s clearly designed and been user tested. When needing to speak to customer support they’re very quick to reply on same day or next day.
It’s a great company to rent your wardrobe to make some side money, but also find great outfits for events.

Ordered dress well in advance, lender accepted, dress never arrived. Lender ( Jaz at The Rental Closet) said she’d sent it but had lost the tracking info. Dress never ever arrived and Jaz continued to claim she’d sent it. No apologies and very rude. Flaw with By Rotation is that you can only leave a review once you’ve completed the hire so it’s not transparent. I was left to scrabble around for a replacement within an afternoon, if Jaz was honest about never posting it, it would’ve given me several days to find a replacement.

What a brilliant idea - easy to use app, lots of choices and the renter was prompt accepting my request and sent the item exactly when I ordered it for.
Much better value than buying something I might only use once in a blue moon.

Easy process to upload to rent out dresses.

Really disappointed with By Rotation. Rather than supporting lenders when a rental is returned in poor condition, they avoid taking responsibility and make the claims process unnecessarily difficult. I was repeatedly asked to provide evidence that had already been submitted, and after sending it again, my emails were simply ignored.
The expectation is that items are returned in the same condition they were rented, yet I was left to deal with the consequences with little to no support. Based on my experience, I would not recommend By Rotation.

Great app. Easy to use and navigate around, will use again for another event when I need a dress.

The app is unworkable. You can't scroll on someone's profile or touch any buttons on anyone's profile - they're all unresponsive.

I paid the lender for next day delivery and they sent it on a cheaper postage, so my item didn't arrive on time. ByRotation ruled that I still had to cover the cost of the full price next day delivery and my own return postage, so was out of pocket £30 for an item I never even opened and the Lender got to profit on the postage differential. Seems fair!

I cannot recommend ByRotation based on my experience.

An item worth over £3,000 that I rented through the platform was stolen. What has been most disappointing is not just the loss itself, but the way ByRotation handled the situation afterwards.

Despite the seriousness of the theft, I have found the company unwilling to provide appropriate compensation. Even more concerning, when the police requested information that could assist their investigation, I experienced significant resistance and delays in having those requests submitted or acted upon.

As a user, you trust a platform like this to support you when something goes wrong. In my case, I felt unsupported at every stage. The lack of accountability, communication, and meaningful assistance has left me with little confidence in the platform’s ability to protect its users or resolve serious disputes fairly.

If you’re considering lending high-value items through ByRotation, I would strongly encourage you to carefully consider the risks and whether you’re comfortable with the level of support you may receive if something goes wrong.
