Barred For No Good Reason With No Preamble And Very Little Effort

Jason, the owner of Chemist Warehouse's 2 Ipswich, Queensland, stores, has barred me from them both. Now that you think I am an arch-criminal, let me tell you what happened.

I had been to my GP this morning, who prescribed flucloxacillin for a bright red and hot infection and swelling that has developed on the calf and shin of my right leg. I am diabetic and the infection is already weeping and I have no desire for it to become ulcerous. My GP said I must keep that leg raised, so as to assist in draining the infectious liquid that is starting to pool. Sorry, it's not nice, but it is relevant to this débacle. I left the GP surgery a little light headed at the thought of how this could all-too-easily develop if not treated promptly.

I went to my usual Chemist Warehouse pharmacy in South Street, Ipswich. My wife & I have been loyal customers there for almost ten years. I had an excellent relationship with this branch’s lead pharmacist called Akshay until he took a managerial post at Ipswich’s other Chemist Warehouse branch.

There is no free on-street parking on weekdays but the pharmacy has a small car park at the rear of the property. When I arrived, there was only one space at the far corner. I needed other regular diabetes medication & this Chemist Warehouse branch keeps all my prescriptions on file in store. They send me SMS reminders when repeat medications are due. I inched my way into the parking space but was close to the car next to me & to the fence to my right. You might think I ought to have driven off. But there was now an urgency to my getting antibiotics. This store had earlier sent me an SMS reminder of the diabetes medications I needed, to which I replied this morning. They therefore knew what I needed – apart from the antibiotics. Frankly, I just wanted to get my meds and go home.

Inside the store, I told the staff I had replied to their SMS. I reminded them which medications I needed and handed them the new prescription my GP had, less than an hour earlier, written to combat the infection in my leg. While I was waiting, a staff member asked if the ute was mine in the back of the car park. I suspected it was but declined to move it because I was still feeling a little light headed and given my GP's warnings, I was not inclined to go on a hike, stirring up all the pus pooling in my leg. I explained about my infected leg. I showed them. They knew from my medications that I was diabetic. I asked if they could expedite my order so I could be out of everyone's hair in no time.

Without preamble, a man in a black polo neck t-shirt bereft of badge or markings walked up and towered over me and told me to go and move my ute. His demeanour was clearly designed as an exercise in ascendancy. Having flown in the Royal Air Force during the Cold War, I had seen this tactic used before - to ill effect. I explained I wasn’t feeling well, that I am diabetic and… Without bothering to listen any more, he walked away behind the counter, returned and handed me all my prescriptions they have on file. I asked where my meds were to which he replied you are not welcome here any more! Crikey! Such an escalation with no shots fired! I said, “Are you serious? What is your name? I shall write to your managing director.” He chuckled and said “My name is Jason. I am the owner.” There followed a walk of shame to the front door. Was any of this really necessary?

I went to Ipswich’s other Carphone Warehouse store. I saw Akshay and explained what had happened. He seemed shocked, rightly so given the friendly rapport we had shared down the years. He was apologetic but added that Jason owns this branch, too!

To any who would say I ought to have not parked but driven to another pharmacy, this branch kept all my repeat prescriptions on file. I had been told by my GP to get my antibiotics, go home and put my leg up. I certainly wasn't expecting the outcome that ensued & having texted ahead, I was confident that, mid-week, I would be in and out in a flash. Under any other circumstances, I would have willingly moved my ute. These were not any other circumstances.

There were no raised voices. They asked if I would move my car. I refused, but apologetically & at first, I succeeded in convincing the duty pharmacist that my infection, coupled with diabetes, made my request for an expeditious exit & to keep movement of my limb to a minimum, not in any way unreasonable. The person being wholly unreasonable & boorish was the owner.

The people who felt themselves blocked in by me were two girls on crutches & a teenage lad. All late teens or early twenties. They were sitting in their car with the tailgate up but no thought of getting the driver (young, thin and agile) to clamber over the seats to reach the driving seat, reverse & let the others in and get on with their day!!!

So, no diabetic meds. No antibiotics and a ban from two pharmacies. What a result!

illegal trading

I bought a 100ml Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau De Toilette from Chemist Warehouse last Wednesday as mine had run out. So I was just replacing a like for like perfume. I opened the Chemist Warehouse Narciso Rodriguez on Friday night to use it and oh god it smelt like it had gone off. It had a sour smell to it, which I can only liken to a perfume that was old and expired or expiring. Disappointed, I put it back in its box and took it back to the Chemist Warehouse I had bought it from today (Saturday) so three days after I had bought it. I took it back in the box with the receipt to be met with nothing short of abuse from the pharmacist/manager for the day. I explained what had happened and gave her the perfume and receipt to which she wouldn’t accept a refund saying I should have tried a tester before purchasing. I actually nearly laughed out loud and responded, the tester and this perfume may be from different batches and therefore what she had suggested didn’t make sense. I also said to her that she was going against the Chemist Warehouse refund policy regarding poor quality/faulty products and against AU consumer law. She responded to this by asking me to come back to the same store on Monday to speak with their other manager. As I was now running late for an appointment due to her retail incompetence I said I would be raising this to her HQ and trading standards which I will do now.

Sexist advertising

Sexist advertising - “gender pain gap”

It’s unethical to bash men as a marketing strategy and to broadcast this rubbish to the public. For every one man who takes the time to let you know how they feel about this, there’s another 999 who feel the same way.

Women are also finding this marketing strategy quite desperate. Get a new marketing team.

Keilor East Chemist warehouse

Purchased an online order from Keillor East chemist warehouse, almost 2 months ago, I never received my order, I've repeatedly asked for a refund. They kept telling me to wait for the delivery, then they will refund my order. Since I had no hope I asked the manager Kayla for the number of chemist warehouse head office, the manager told me she didn't know the number, and just go Google it. Since they knew, I was going to complain to higher management, then they cancelled my order. Why couldn't they cancelled it, from the start. Instead of me calling over and over again and leaving me on hold for almost 30 mins each time. So Unprofessional. I'm not happy with the service I received from this store.

Please do check your receipt

Please do check your receipt. I bought 3 items only in Parramatta Westfield store. The cashier scanned one item twice. I found it immediately as I walking out of the store. When I went back to ask for refund, I was asked to fill a form to put my details down. How ridiculous! Isn't it the cashier who should be the one filling that form? Importantly, no appologies at all for their mistake.Very unpleasant experience.

Bad Experience with the Online Store

I purchased a perfume as a gift from Chemist Warehouse's online store. Unfortunately, the product packaging arrived with a minor ding, preventing me from gifting the item. I purchased another item elsewhere for the gift. What followed was most unexpected.

The Chemist Warehouse is a trusted household name, yet you cannot return the item to the nearby retail store. Instead, you must return the item to the seller (in my case, Preston Distribution Centre). I expected them to say, "Sorry for sending out an item with damaged packaging" - here is a return label. No!

The customer service agent lodged an enquiry with Aus Post. Since they had no record of an externally damaged parcel box, the CW simply said, 'Sorry, we can't help you.' That was the extent of the 'service' I received from the ChemistWarehouse.com.au. They stonewalled me. According to the CW agent, if I sign for the delivery, I better be sure that the product is undamaged. How is that even possible when one signs for the parcel without opening the box?

After my experience, I will never buy from the Chemist Warehouse Online Store. What a disappointment since my local store is very professional and service-focused. Everything the Online Store is NOT.

Garbage Water

Why do you insist on forcing people to endure the gauntlet of cheap perfume when they go to checkout?! I leave your stores with a massive headache everytime.
I going to stop going to Chemist Warehouse for this reason alone. It’s an assault on the senses.
YOUR CASH GRAB TO SELL $3 WORTH OF GARBAGE WATER FOR $50 IS GOING TO SINK YOUR BUSINESS ONE DAY.

Shipping costs are ridiculous

Shipping costs are ridiculous. The bigger the value of the order, higher the shipping cost even though the overall weight is not even a 1 kg, I was quoted 22aud.

It's like they are trying to make a profit from the shipping cost.

Firstly the staff I have felt with are…

Firstly the staff I have felt with are always friendly and helpful.
But Chemistware house really need to up there game.
Their app sucks. Giving misleading information which can lead to someone being seriously effected medically.
An app that stated that you have several receipt currant only to find out on ordering that they have all been used up .
Yes I know it is up to the individual to keep track of your medical scripts, but some times it's just not that easy todo. So a company offering an app that can take away that worry of keeping track is a good thing in my book
For me it's a minor inconvenience as I can just call up my surgery and have a script within a couple of days.but imagine how someone with a serious condition relying on those scripts to be available will fair.
This could lead to seriously life threatening episode for them.
I state that all companies offering this service have the responsibility to ensure that the system they use to encourage customers to stay loyal is totally reliable at all times.
This latest new app they have is as bad if not worse than the first app (or their original)
I voted with my withdrawal of my scripts and deleted the app.
Obviously my little rant will have no impact on Chemist warehouse, but I feel better

I will never go to Chemist Warehouse again

I go to Chemist Warehouse frequently. After today, I will never shop there again.

Today I received a call from the manager about 10 minutes after I left the Croydon Central store in Melbourne.

He accused me of stealing items and had it on video. He said come back and pay for the allegedly stolen products or he'll ring the cops.

The manager of the Croydon store, Matt, said he had footage of me placing skin cream in my bag and not paying for it.

He chose to not show the footage of me taking it out and replacing it with a more suitable product.

I showed him my bags. I had receipts for every product and those he accused me of stealing were not there. I will get the footage from me leaving the store and then returning. It will show me walking into a supermarket, taking a call from the Matt and returning to Chemist Warehouse, where I waited near on 20 minutes for Matt to inspect my bag, which had only the products I paid for and the receipts for them.

I have written a formal complaint to head office.

It's almost unheard of. A store manager calling me, threatening that if I didn't return and pay for products I didn't have, then he would send the video to the police. Bring it on.

Matt kept me waiting for 20 minutes when I returned to the store. I have no doubt the footage would have shown me returning items to shelves until I had what I wanted. I reckon he is gutless and would never acknowledge he made a mistake. That's why the only part of a 20 minute or so video, he only showed a 1 minute of me contemplating skin care items and placing 2 into my bag. He would have seen in later footage, me replacing one of them. As I said, too gutless to admit making a mistake. Instead, he became more aggressive and denied showing me the rest of the footage.

If one of my staff conducted themselves in this way, I would immediately remove them from the floor and performance manage them. Part of that would include how one should conduct themselves by being respectful to customers and colleagues, being honest with customers and following due protocols.

I will never, ever shop at Chemist Warehouse again. In all my years, it was the most horrible retail experience I have ever had.

Taylors Lakes store overcharged…

Taylors Lakes store overcharged customers…
Taylors Lakes store overcharged me on an analgesic tablets. The medicine was priced on special for $9.99 from original price of $14.99. Later i found out i've been charged $21.98 (2 packets) instead of $19.98. I then went back to the store and been told by a lady named Tanny that was the old price tag they forgot to remove, but the excuse was clearly a lie, because the old price underneath the new price tag was $14.99.
She then called a guy named Basim who refunded me the wrong amount which i had to rectify once again. The customer service was a ZERO. They both were unfriendly, unprofessional and no apology was offered. More trainings needed. I urge every shopper to be aware of this Taylors Lakes Store for the appalling customer service and overcharging customer habit.
