Collett's Mountain Holidays Avis 

We had a great stay for 11 days in Hotel Sonnenspitze, Austria and 3 days in Hotel Maria, Switzerland. The staff, Connie and Ben and Taea and Autumn were very helpful in choosing appropriate hikes for the day (weekend v week day and once school holidays in the region started towards the end of the holiday). They also offered variations to suit different start points as we had a car with us and for travel days shorter, but still very enjoyable options. We hiked every day and very much enjoyed our visits. The hotels were great, food was great, no issues, hassle free way of visiting and making the most of our time after a conference in Switzerland for work. The planning being done for us was a big benefit on this particular trip.

Logistics were all smooth. Walk was nice but not epic.

The Dolomites has it all - scenery, food & wine, mixture of nationalities and fabulous walking trails from easy to Via Feratta.
Our hotel was perfect, in the village of Corvara. Bus stop was right outside ,we caught this most mornings to the start of the trail head.
Collett's staff were very helpful and were based down at one of the other hotels at the bottom of the village, and it was necessary for us to go down there for the nightly "meeting". We didn't do this, firstly because we had already had a long day of hiking and also because we were familiar with the area having been there before. It would however, be beneficial if one of the "tour guides" could come up to the hotel at least for one night of the week, especially if you were new to the area. There were others also staying at the same hotel. Having already experienced another of Collett's trips, in an area we didn't know, we did benefit from meeting with them.
Catching the bus from Venice made getting to Corvara so much easier, and we would certainly do it again.
There are so many refugios/hutte's on the mountains in the Dolomites with fabulous food in stunning locations, it's easy to have a quick simple lunch or a long lazy lunch on an easier day. They are all very good at catering for dietary requirements too. Staff are fabulous.
We would do this trip again and tackle some more walks.

Fantastic mountain hiking holiday in Austria! First time using Collett’s, very happy. Provided great selection of graded hikes with clear instructions. The benefit of having the wonderful reps Ben and Connie available to help us choose according to our preferences and abilities was brilliant. They listened and understood and also tailored walks to suite our ability, and desire to get the very most out of our hiking adventures. Not as courageous as my husband but still happy for a challenge, we were rewarded with breathtaking views and feelings of accomplishment. As Ben and Connie have walked and devised the hikes they have first hand knowledge to be able to advise, so you are in safe hands. We can’t rate them highly enough, very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly! They also were great to help with knowledge of buses, trains and cable cars. The office hour at the end of the day with a drink in hand was also a good time to chat with other walkers to see how they had got on with the different hikes.
We stayed in the very pretty town of Ehrwald. Our hotel was very comfortable, great food, friendly staff, and beautiful views.
We enjoyed every bit of our holiday, definitely highly recommend Collett’s, and will use them again. Thank you Ben and Connie for being such excellent reps!

We loved our trip to Corvara with Collett's. Beautiful location with lots of fantastic walking options and a lovely stay in La Tamba. I was travelling with two people with different challenges and what I loved was that we could work with our wonderful on-the-ground reps to customise our days and could access everything we wanted to with complete confidence. What could have been stressful was totally relaxing. Thank you.

A great experience all round. Great communication, all logistics ran smoothly and the knowledge of their walking guide was excellent. Overall a great, great holiday!

Amazing walking; well organised by Collett’s

We have had many holidays (now both in our 60s) but I think I'd rate this as the best ever. The Hotel Christian was lovely - personal and 'not corporate' with very helpful and friendly staff. Food was excellent, plentiful and 'regional'.
Collett's 'guides' were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, helping us to choose and adapt walking routes to suit us.
The scenery is amazing. We did seven varied walks over seven days, every one of which was in a beautiful landscape, every one of which was different.

Our first walking holiday with Collected, and we were very impressed. Very well organised and great in-resort staff. The walking pack with aps and seacriptions of suggested walks was excellent, and worked really well with the accompanying map app. The two Collett's staff in Corvara were very knowledgeable of the area and walks and daily happy hours in the evening were a superb way of helping choose and if needed, tweak the walk for the next day. The hotel was very good, and if anything, food was too copious.

We enjoyed this holiday. It was well organised and the scenery was very good. The rep Ayelen was exceptional, her local knowledge assisted in tailoring walks to our abilities.

I found the company's tech very clunky and difficult to access and use. Everything was password protected and whilst this may be best practice, it was not easy to pay, communicate or get the trip booked. Whilst the company insisted on us all signing a waiver, they gave us the wrong waiver (as we were self guided) and I fail to see why a waiver was needed. In terms of boots on the ground, Phil was very helpful and accommodating and checked in regularly to see how things were going. He also tracked our group using a GPS device which in 23 years, I have never seen. The accommodation was difficult because we were a big group all wanting single rooms, but the company was very good in getting us rooms, albeit that they had to place us in some ordinary hotels that they normally would not use that did not have servcies. I think the App and navigation system used by the company was fabulous and the optionality given to the group to do different walks each day was helpful in fact. Overall, there was a lot to like, but having done this every year for more than 20 years, I found the pre-booking experience could be much better / more flexible - but this was overcome by the much higher attention on the ground by Phil and his team - who were excellent

We enjoyed every aspect of this holiday. Wonderful walks great variety and having the free bus pass made life easy, also the z.pass was worth buying as cable cars were then free plus a bonus boat trip. The hotel was very good, great food and very helpful waiting staff. Ben & Connie Colletts reps were excellent lots of good advice and tips. Weather was hot and sunny apart from last day when it rained. Altogether a brilliant trip

The holiday was fantastic.
It was a great overview of Corsica, starting off in the mountains with walks in the gorge and finishing with the coast.
Even the taxis were a great way of seeing the island , 2 hours taxi from Porto to Calvi partly along the coast road was really spectacular.
It was the first time that I had been back in 30 years and it brought back so many memories. The mountain villages haven’t changed and still have that rustic feel. Fantastic local food and wine .
We will definitely go back to explore more of the island.

Colletts staff were welcoming and approachable. Walk pack ups were very informative and the 'Ride with GPS' App was excellent. The walking routes were fantastic. Lovely hotel, the food was first class and the staff were friendly. A bit disappointed that the hotel charged €2.50 for tap water at dinner. Try and get a room at the quieter rear of the hotel, we were at the front and awoken at 6.30 each morning by the street cleaning water generator right outside the hotel. Also be aware that the adjacent church's bells are very loud and ring out 60 times at 7am! Don't expect a lye in!😀
