Greeneking Pubs Avis 

Went to the Washington pub in Blackpool today. Staff really lovely 😍 great service,quick food. Had chicken Diane, chips and peas . The sauce was amazing. Apple crumble and custard, lovely. We had a seniors menu,good size and price. Will go back with husband and grandkids soon. Thanks guys, Marianna Watson 😊xxxxx

Tide End Cottage Teddington - not enough staff. Ran out of certain dishes by 8pm. Drinks took 40 mins to arrive - after food. Had to use the app as the queue for food and drink was so long up that didn’t help either! They even ran out of wine glasses and I had to have my wine in a gin glass. Avoid this pub!

Arrived at the Quantock Pub, Bridgwater at 5.35pm and placed food order immediately. Barely 25% of tables were being used so no problem sitting. From about 5.50 the place got busier. Lots of people including ones sat behind us had their meals finished by 6.05. Got to 6.10 no sign of our food. My wife enquired and the lady said she would look into it - didn't come back to us. At 6.15 my wife found and spoke with her again - will be with you soon - 6.20 it arrived no apology. The plates were not even luke warm, and my wifes order was missing the garlic bread. As by now we were running very late we decided to ignore this. I now come to my own meal - Hunters chicken. Well where shall I start - the bacon you could barely see and was tasteless. The chips were warm but anaemic looking again no taste, even the peas were tasteless. I now come to the best bit - the chicken breast - was it chicken or a very very small bird I have never seen such a small chicken breast, even smaller than a budgies I feel, I doubt if it were 3 inches long. It was chewy, luke warm and totally tasteless. I have attended numerous Greene King locations over the years, this was by a long long way the worst - never again. They were lucky we were now in a rush for a prior arrangement or we would have made such a fuss like they had never heard before and demanded our money back. Appalling location, even worse food. Avoid.

Very dangerous outside table at The Crown, Hazlemere.
There are brackets to screw the table into the concrete base but have not been fixed. The table suddenly started to tip right up on its side and we fell onto the floor on our backs. We were soaked by our drinks as the glasses fell off the table onto the ground.
Luckily the dog we were looking after was not squashed by the table as she was underneath.
Would be more serious situation for older people.

We visited your pub/ restaurant for lunch last Saturday 14/03/2026. The service was absolutely dreadful, from the time we placed our order until the time our food arrived it was exactly an hour,I complained a couple of times, the waitress was hopeless, she had no idea what she was doing, didn’t check on us to see if the food was satisfactory, which it wasn’t, the burger I had was awful, she didn’t ask us if we wanted a dessert or coffee, she finally approached us when I saw her in the distance and had to call her over, I asked for the bill, she produced it then disappeared, I had to go looking for her to pay. A most dreadful experience, I sent a complaint by email to the head office and they haven’t even bothered to speak to me. I wouldn’t mind but the restaurant wasn’t even busy, no apologies from the on site manager or from the company. Would never go back there again and would advise anyone who’s thinking of going there to give it a wide berth.

Shakespeare’s Head, Carnaby St, it’s a dump! Numerous chairs with shredded seat cushions, the fish in the fish and chips not great, rubbish batter, the fish goujon sandwich was pathetic, tiny pieces with hardly any fish in the batter, accompanying thick chips and salad was decent and fresh.

Went in ordered two fish n chips and two cokes
Charged £31 . Offer not valid on Sundays.
Its not cod its pollock.
Oven chips
Microwaved mushy peas piping hot
Expected better .

Hi Everyone

We called into The Highway man Pub / Restaurant in Gravely Stevenage last night 24th January 2026

It seemed ok at first but almost empty
First of all we were asked if we had booked which was odd as it was empty .
They sat us in an area that after a while
absolutely stank of burning or over cooked cooking oil.

To say it was uncomfortable was an understatement and it made our clothes stink .

We thought well we have ordered and paid for our food now so let’s eat up and then leave as quickly as possible.

Well the food turned up and it wasn’t the best
No finesse or presentation just food that looked like it had been thrown on the plate .

So I wouldn’t recommend this Pub to anyone..

We visited the Green King in Pilsworth The PaperMill for breakfast. Two mega breakfast. Absolutely terrible. Toast was stale, bacon burnt, everything cold. Then went to soft play.

We definitely won’t be trying it again. Not worth the time or the money.

Avoid like the plague, landlords no matter how many it's had are powerless to change the pubs power supply issues, they can't change the utter garbage decor, they can't change the vomited wrenching menu, they can't change a thing.

Hive pubs aka Greene King are absent landlords with zero vision, and it shows with reviews.

They should be reported to every council and have landlords licences revoked.

They hike prices and make excuse after excuse about how thing ls will get better, they don't

Our visit tonight to The Hungry Fox Hempstead valley. Food was hot andtasty .Jolene who took our orders was pleasant and very attentive to our orders that we placed with the emphasise did we have any allergies
The whole experience was very pleasant. It was nice to see the staff interacting with the customers in a warm and pleasant atmosphere. Niki is always like the rest of her staff very welcoming

My friend and I went to The Tiger Moth for Sunday lunch. We were so looking forward to it because my friend has been virtually housebound after a lengthy stay in hospital, so this was to be a treat for her.
We were greeted and seated by a very friendly young woman who eventually served us our meals, which were delicious!
Unfortunately how experience was spoiled by an extremely loud football match! I understand you offer this in your pubs and I’m not against people enjoying themselves, but the diners around us were having to shout across the tables to have a conversation while eating! Do diners not have any rights to a peaceful Sunday lunch? Considering this was my friend’s first lunch out in ages I was extremely disappointed at the noise.

I can’t fault the staff or the delicious food, but does the TV really need to be so loud thus spoiling others enjoyment??

Just visited The Pippin at Wyken Coventry & it was great! The lunchtime staff were DEVON, LEAH & good old JAY! A happy, carefree bunch,always with a smile & look like they actually enjoy their jobs & serving customers! Nice meal, but the lighting looks as though the meter needs feeding as it’s quite dark, given that this was lunch-time! Recommend it highly! Chris.

Visited the pond house in maidenhead and it was amazing.
Staff were so lovely and polite and the roast dinner was amazing

The Greene King called The Bull at Penenden Heath, Maidstone was worth five stars all day long. The service, quality of food, atmosphere were superb.
Highly recommended by me. Will be going there again.

Booked a table at the Gemini in Dereham, Norfolk with the intention of watching the advertised Aspinall ufc fight and some dinner but come 7pm I've finished my dinner and downed 2 pints to be told that the fight won't be shown after all.
False advertising.

Went to Ardencaple Hotel. They Forgot our food order. I got the lamb shepherds pie & my husband peppered mushroom pie. The portions were fine if you're a four year old child which we aren't. The carrots were like rubber & freezing. I don't eat much but there wasn't enough for me even with the side order of chips which was £3 for about 12 chips. My husband had the smallest portion of mash with his meal & he was still hungry after it. Total rip off.

We visited The Bear Tavern last night to take advantage of a voucher for 20% off drinks that my husband won on the Greene King app. We opted for their Wednesday night £6 burger and fries which is great value for money. The barman (I don't know his name but he is blond and wears glasses and an earring) remembered our drinks order from a previous visit which made us smile. Our meal arrived promptly and was really tasty. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We are so lucky to have a great local right on our doorstep. Shout out to Jack, Kieran and the rest of the team.

Not very busy when we visited and selection of draft ales was limited. However, staff were very friendly and eventually a lovely pint of Timothy Taylor became available.
Even if your not an ale fan, would recommend, as staff went out of their way to make us welcome.
